Chapter 5 - the ditcher

Aura kicked off her shoes and threw herself down onto the bed, the plush covers cushioning her fall. Lying spread-eagle, she could feel the familiar weight of the bed beneath her, a comforting reminder of the countless hours spent dreaming, and laughing, on this very spot. As she stared up at the familiar ceiling, memories washed over her, each one a sweet reminder of the time that had passed.

She laid on her cozy bed, the very place she sought refuge before her time away. There was a mound of plump pillows, some soft pastels, others bearing subtle, comforting patterns. They were nestled together, creating a cloud-like haven that remembers her restless nights and her peaceful moments. The duvet, a gentle blue, is soft to the touch, inviting peaceful slumber. And at the foot of the bed, a favorite knitted throw was draped, a splash of texture and warmth.

Aura did not want to be lazy in her cozy bed. She carried herself off and walked in the direction of the bathroom door, opening it, brought another set of memories.

The bathroom where every item was thoughtfully placed revealed robes, made of soft, linen material, all neatly hung on gleaming hooks, their folds precise and inviting. The towels, a calming neutral are folded to perfection on a nearby shelf, ready for their use. Every single bottle of her favorite soap, sponge, and other essentials stands proudly displayed on the counter arranged with an almost artistic precision. The shower walls are gleaming, and the whole space has an air of calm, meticulous order.

Everything was intact, nothing had been changed or tempered with.

After taking a long shower, she draped her body in one of the robes, she should have had time for her facials, but, she didn't have time for that.

Aura walked into the inner room, where her walk-in closet was.

Her closet, a sartorial archive of her past and present wardrobe. The racks were overflowing with shirts, a mix of crisp cotton and flowing silks, arranged by color or style. Then her collection of skirts, from tailored workwear to whimsical prints, each with its own story. Her dresses, a cascade of fabrics and silhouettes, ready to be worn for any occasion.

Below, neatly arranged are her shoes, from high heels to comfy sneakers, each a perfect match for an outfit. Then, her suits, sharp and tailored, reflecting her professional side. And finally, her collection of bags, from elegant clutches to practical totes, each a versatile accessory.

She got herself a bolla top and a sea blue shorts to match with. She had to go down and munch on her ice-cream.

Also, she has to deal with two other people: Wren and Ivy. Her two best and only friends in the world.

Yeah 👍.

She felt guilty for not telling them about her plans of going to A city. They are sure going to give her a wisp of her own selfish behaviour.

She did not even bait her makeup area an eye. She has missed all her perfumes and jewelleries, but her friends mattered the most.

And her ice-cream of course.

"Alfred, I want vanilla and coconut flavours,"

Aura heard a familiar voice. She stopped to study the voice clearly. That voice sure belonged to Ivy.

"Here she comes," Wren alerted Ivy.

"The ditcher!" Both Ivy and Wren folded their arms across their chests, completely forgetting about Alfred and their ice-cream.

"Guys," Aura ran to their side.

"Halt,"

She stopped when Wren signalled her. Aura's hand were in the air. She was going to hug them.

Ivy got her ice-cream and began licking it.

Alfred who sensed the tensiin between the young ladies excused himself. Wren wanted him to stay and judge their attitude towards Aura.

"You look so thin!" Ivy who was licking the ice-cream was now checking Aura's body.

"What happened to you girl?" Now Wren was as soft as ever. She moved behind Aura encircling her body with her arms.

"Girl, I missed you so much." She no longer wanted the ice-cream.

Wren sniffed Aura's hair, checking if she had used the correct shampoo.

"You have a lot to tell us right?" Now she was being demanding.

Ivy, who was busy on her ice-cream wasn't convinced yet. She was a health expert, and alerting her clients if they were missing something was what she did.

And telling Aura that she had lost weight was her daily habit.

Even yesterday, she told, Clara, her crazy little sister that she was missing a vitamin in her body.

"Now ditcher," she was done with her ice-cream.

"Time to explain yourself, you know me, I'm not like Wren who easily gets soft." Ivy reminded her friends about her character if they had forgotten.

These three friends have different ways of accepting situations. Ivy grew up around gently and softhearted people. This has made her to be like them.

Aura, was indecisive. Today, she's here, tomorrow, she there. She's unpredictable.

The queen herself, Wren was thick skinned. She was not ready to just let it go and she chooses closely those she wishes to be around.

"Wren, I know I have a lot to say to you guys." She removed Ivy's arms around her and went to the freezer for her ice-cream.

Strawberry cheesecake, a combination of fruits, creaminess and cake. That was her favourite ice-cream.

She got herself a teaspoon and began to feed on it like someone who has been starved for days. Both Wren and Ivy watched her.

'Unbelievable,' they both thought.

"Come on," they went to the balcony on the first floor. All three took separate seats đź’ş.

Wren had her arms crossed in front of her. It seemed she wasn't ready for a compromise.

"Girl, tell me, how was it? Did you find him?"

Ivy squaeled into Aura's laps locking her arms around her neck. She has missed this body, so much.

"Yes and no. It's a mixed feeling thing."

"Come on, you've been gone for two years."
