Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: New Job

It's 9am, my phone alarm goes off to get ready for my first day at this new security job I got, it was kinda weird they just hired me on the spot with what I would barely call an "interview" but fuck it I'm not complaining. This job pays better than my last security spot and I don't have to work late nights for shitty pay, I mean shit all I have to do is just drive around a rich neighborhood every couple hours and let in certain cars and trucks at the gate in the back whenever they call me to do so and they said that's maybe twice a week at best and I'll be making forty-five an hour just for that, you damn right I'm taking that. I take a shower and get my clothes ready, they said there's no uniform and I just have to wear all black, it's October so I'll just throw on a black hoodie, black pants with some vans and head to the address they sent me. I drive up to the main gate and see these luxurious ass houses, they all look different like they were carefully thought out by the owners, now I see why they're paying so much just for security. The gate opens and I park in the spot specifically marked "security guard", as I walk towards the security booth I'm met by the old man who looks over the whole community. He opens the door and greets me

"You must be Jay, our new security guard, it's nice to meet you I'm Mr. Williams, I look over this community"

He says this as he shakes my hand a little too enthusiastically but I just smile and respond back

"it's nice to meet you too, I'm excited to start working here".

He brings me into the booth, a room that looks like an office you'd find at a high end job, he starts showing me around and saying what's in here

"you got a fridge where you can put your food if ever you bring some, it's also filled with drinks and snacks, microwave, your own bathroom pretty much all the essentials you'll ever need, just send a email to my secretary if you need anything. Then your computer if you ever need to do a report".

So far so good I can get used to this for sure. He then shows me what I'll be driving around the place, a tundra with security lights at the top

"this is your patrol vehicle, you don't have problems driving a truck right?"

"No sir"

I said but in reality I really want to say fuck no this is my dream car. After about 15 more minutes of him explaining the job which was already in the email that was sent he tells me about the back gate

"When calls come in from the gate, check the cameras and they'll show you a badge that only authorized vehicles will possess, just open the gate no questions asked, no need to do anything else, understand?"

I nod and he tells me to enjoy my shift as he walks to his brand new Mercedes that was parked across the booth and drives off, he seems a little too friendly, almost suspicious but whatever he's paying me to literally do the bare minimum at best, I think I'm going to like this job.
