Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Life has always been hard... maybe that is why suicidal acts exist. The hardships that people goes through may have made them became the main character within their story or other people's stories, however, that is not always the case. There are people that were born to be the supporting role, no matter how much hardships they went through, or how much they have tried in their lives, in the end, they are still just that supporting role.

Afterall, life has never been fair...nor is God.

With that thought in mind, Yuri got stabbed in her stomach as she was waiting for the traffic light to cross the street.

She furrowed her brows together from the sudden pain on her stomach. She touched the place where her pain is and felt something wet on her clothes. When she looks down, all she sees is blood that are dying her white shirt into bright red.

Being stunned by the sudden development in her life, she start to look around her surroundings. She is not exactly sure what she is trying to find when her eyes were wondering around. It could be that she is trying to find that crazy bastard that put her into this f*cked up situation, or it could be that she is trying to find help from others.

Normally, there will be at least one to two people in a group of pedestrians that are waiting to cross the street will at least look around their surroundings, when they are not looking at their phones, or when they are not with someone else. However, it seems like at this very moment, everyone is minding their own business. There were people focusing on their phones, people that were talking to the others, people that were just looking straight ahead with their headphones on, there were all these different things that people were doing, but just not noticing her even when she has kneeled down onto the floor from the extreme pain on her stomach.

Yuri tried to reach out her hands to grab onto someone for help, but for some reason, her hands reached nobody. Everyone seems so far away from her, even though they are just right in front of her. Maybe because she starts to loose more and more blood as each second passes, everything became hazy in front of her and she can feel that she is loosing her strengths. So instead of wasting her time to get hold of someone, she used all her strength to reached into her coats pocket for her phone to dial the ambulance. Yuri pressed the button on her phone several times, then she continuously tapped the screen several times, but no matter what she does to open up her phone, she can only see her deranged reflection through the black screen.

"Are you f*cking kidding me..."

Yuri screamed out, but her screamed became a whisper since she started to hyperventilate.

She looks down at her stomach, realizing that the blood has not only just dyed her shirt red, but also started to drip down from her hand that is pressing onto the wound.

---Do you really bleed this much when you get stabbed....?

People says that when you are about to reach the end of your life, your past memories will start to flow back into your head. Maybe because Yuri can feel the seconds of her life being drained away, she starts to remembering something that she has long not care for. That her life has always been like a spec of dust. She's there because she's there. No one really cares. Thus, Yuri created a wall between her and the others. She will live her life like she has never existed, quietly and independently.

Back when Yuri was younger, it does bother her a bit that her existence in other's eyes are like air, but as she grew older, it doesn't bother her anymore. To be more precise, she doesn't care anymore, since she became numbed to people's avoidance. Like how the pain that she was feeling on her stomach right now, eventually it became numbed. Her vision starts to darkened. She can tell that she has already reached her limit.

---Dammit... if I'm going to be stabbed to death, at least stabbed me in an alleyway or something, and not in a group of these blind motherf*ckers....ugh...my pride....

THUD*

Just like that, Yuri felt her body fell onto the hard concrete floor before she lost her consciousness completely.

...

DINGDINGDING*

A dark pair of eyes dramatically opened after hearing the rings. The first thing she sees is this RPG looking screen that is floating in front of her that says

---Welcome to the novel "Once upon the light"---

Confused about what has just happened to her, she quickly popped her body up then she roamed her hand all around her body, especially the part where she felt the pain from from being stabbed. She let out a sigh of relieve when that excruciating pain that she felt is gone.

"So it was just a nightmare" Yuri said to herself.

...

After a few seconds of silence, Yuri felt like she remember seeing something weird when she opened her eyes from the nightmare. She looks up, and above her head, she saw a blue see-through screen that looks like one of the setting that you see in RPG games, that says

---Welcome to the novel "Once upon the light"---

Yuri looks around her with a poker face. From left, then to the right. Then from the top to the bottom.

.....

SMACK*

Yuri hit her cheek.

SMACK*

Yuri hits the other side of her cheek.

"Hehehe....that hurts..."

Yuri laughed with her poker face still on

"....Why?"

Yuri spoke to herself again.

"Ah! I must still be dreaming. Lets go back to sleep"

Yuri then laid back down, but after a second of laying back down, she popped her body up again

"Yea, no, it's not..."

She told herself while still feeling the stings from the slaps that she gave herself on both of her cheeks. She looks up at that RPG looking screen again, and it still says the same thing

---Welcome to the novel "Once upon the light"---

"Novel?- What Novel? -Where Novel?- How Novel? -Why Novel?"

With question marks emitting out from her, Yuri puts her hand on her head from the unbelievable scenario.

"Have I been reading too many transmigration stories to the point of hallucinating about them?"

She then looks up and tried to touch the screen that is in front of her. Her fingers went right through the screen, feeling nothing but the air and oxygen itself. She then starts to look around again, but more clearly this time. She realized that she is in a room, a small bedroom to be more precise. It is a room with a very simple outline. A bed that she is currently laying on, a wooden closet and a wooden desk with a wooden chair that is right across from her. Plus a window that big enough to emit some of the moonlights into the room to make her see the dark room clearly. Believing that she is still hallucinating, Yuri is contemplating if she should get off from the bed or not. In the end, she pulled her legs out from the blanket that was wrapping around her. When her feet touched the wooden floor, she felt the cold sensation touching the soles of her warm feet.

Not knowing what she should do, she slowly and quietly walked up to the window that is emitting the bright moonlight into her room. Yuri then put her hand on the window, feeling the slight coolness of the wooden exterior, then she gently pulled the window open. A light cool breeze blew onto her face, ruffling her brown curly hair. she popped her head out a little bit to take a peek of the outside. It seems like the room that she is staying in is the ground floor and outside of her room is a wide space with a trees that are couple steps away. She then looks up at the sky, where there are no clouds covering the moon. It just sits there, in the grey sky, beautifully by itself.

As she was admiring the beauty of the moon, suddenly the RPG looking screen popped up in front of her again, blocking her view of the nature. But this time, it says something different, which put Yuri back into the turmoil again.

---ERROR$%&%^#$ERROR@#$&^ERROR HAS BEEN DETECTED---

"What err---!!??"

Before Yuri gets to finish her word the screen changed again.

---Welcome to the Novel "Once upon The Light", You have became an extra named "Maid Z"---

!!!!!????

"Maid Z!!!??"

Yuri yelled out with all the disbelief that she has contained in her

"WHAT YOU MEAN MAID Z!!!" Yuri yelled at the screen

"ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT I BECAME A MOB CHARCTER IN A NOVEL THAT I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER READING!!??"

The she pointed her finger at the screen

"AND OUT OF ALL THOSE ABCD I GOT A LETTER Z!!!!"

Yuri huffed a bit from the anger that she just spits out, then she tries to calm herself down since she believe that in this current scenario, calmness is a way to solve the problem. But then a few seconds of trying to calm herself down, she got angry again.

"People says A for honors and D for degrees, so at least I should have gotten a F as a Failure...but instead I got a Z, WTF does that play in? Zerror!?"

She starts to rub her temple to release the migraine that she is feeling from the stress of her current abnormal situation. Afterall, she does not understands why she suddenly got stabbed out of nowhere when she barely interacts with people in her whole 25 years of life. With the addition to that, it looks like she has accidently transmigrated to a novel and became an extra. Literally an actual mob character where the faces were not even bothered to be drawn out by the the authors if this was a manhwa. Yuri let out a big sigh again so that she can calmly put her thoughts together.

"Let see...so Once Upon The Light is the name of the novel that I had abruptly transmigrated to, but... that's weird though..."

Yuri furrowed her brows together trying really hard to remember the novels that she had read through out her last lifetime. She usually don't really read a lot, but before she got stabbed and transmigrated she did start reading couple novels that became quite a hit in the media during her free time. However, Yuri is a slow reader so it takes some time for her to finish a book. Which means that the amount of novels that she had read is enough to be finished counting with one hand. And none of them is named "Once Upon the Light".

Yuri thought even harder

"Emmm...Did I really forgot about it? Or have I really never read it before?"

After thinking hard for a moment, Yuri let out a big sigh.

"I really don't think I have ever read this novel before....ugh....what should I do now?"

Yuri desperately thought to herself. In the transmigration novels that she had read, all the main characters have transmigrated to at least plot that they knew of already, but it seems like that is not the case for Yuri...then suddenly a thought came to Yuri mind.

"Maybe... it was supposed to be someone else that should have been transmigrated into this world, but because of some mistake, I came instead..."

Yuri snaps her fingers together, then smiled.

"Right! Afterall, the screen stated that I am an extra under the name Maid Z. And before that it stated that there was an error detected or something like that, so what that mean is that I wasn't supposed to be here, but because of some error, I transmigrated in this novel that I have never heard of!"

After thinking some more, the smile on her face soon turned into a frown.

"Huh- I see, so I'm just repeating the same life that I had just finished living from my previous 25 years."

Yuri snickered a bit on how ridiculous her lives can be.

The screen disappeared as Yuri was thinking deeply. Not long after, she realized that the screen won't be coming back up, which flared up her angers again. She pointed at the empty space

"At least provide me with some sort of information of this world before you disappear on me, you assh*le!!"

She let out another big sigh that came from her heart, then closed the window and went back to the bed to lay back down while staring at the ceiling emptily.

"After taking a peek on how this house looks like from the outside, it seems like it's more of a mansion than a house."

Once again, Yuri let out a sigh. What does she expect, of course it's a mansion, since she is Maid Z in this world. With a calm and expressionless face, her eyes stares into the corner of the darkness that the moonlight can't get into. That corner of the darkness brought back a familiar feeling to Yuri. A familiar comfort that only her and herself understands while nobody does.
