Chapter 32 - CHAPTER THIRTY TWO: A JOB

~TESSA'S POV~

I kept pacing restlessly, moving from the window to the door, from the door to the bed and from the bed back to the window.

I checked the screen again, there was still no response from the answer. The person was really taking me as a joke.

I dropped onto the edge of the bed and exhaled slowly. "You struck a conversation," I muttered to the phone. "The least you could do is continue it."

Everywhere was dead silent, that only the sound of my heartbeat could be heard.I lay back, staring at the ceiling, replaying the words in my head.

'Worry less about my identity but more about your past.'

"What, past?" I whispered again, like saying it out loud would force an answer.

The person was really getting on my nerves. I kept thinking about the possible things the person would know until darkness engulfed me and I slept without meaning to.

When I woke up, the first thing I did was grab my phone.

No message.

My chest sank.
