Chapter 15 - Shadows in the Night*

Here's a revised version of Chapter 1

Mia's eyes snapped open, her heart racing. The dream still lingered, a cold sweat on her skin. She could almost smell the decay, feel the Michelsons' cold gazes on her. The images were so vivid, she couldn't shake the feeling that it was real.

In her dream, she was back in the Michelsons' mansion, surrounded by the opulent decor and the eerie silence. The twins, Henri and Hélène, watched her with an unnerving intensity, their eyes flashing with a malevolent g gleam. The sound of whispers grew louder, a chilling mantra: "Ours, ours, ours..."

Mia tried to shake off the feeling of unease, but the figures continued to haunt her. Mrs. Michelson appeared, her smile a thin, cruel line. "You'll never escape us, Mia. You're one of us, whether you like it or not."

The dream shifted, and Mia found herself in her dorm room, surrounded by the familiar comforts of her own space. But it was all a lie. The Michelsons were there, lurking in the shadows, waiting for her.

She woke up again, her heart racing, only to realize it was just a dream. But it felt so real. She could still smell the decay, feel the cold gaze of the Michelsons on her.

Mia threw off her covers, pacing her dorm room. The moonlight streaming through the window cast eerie shadows on the walls. She couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, hunted.

The conversation with Kai, Amara, and Professor Elara replayed in her mind. The weight of her heritage, the danger closing in... it was all too much.

Mia's hand instinctively went to the lunar crescent charm on her neck, the steady beat a comfort. She needed to get out, clear her head.

She slipped out of her dorm, the night air cool on her skin. The forest loomed, dark and mysterious. She felt drawn to it, the shadows calling to her.

As she walked, the trees seemed to whisper secrets in her ear. She couldn't quite make out the words, but the urgency was clear.

Suddenly, Kai emerged from the shadows, his eyes gleaming in the dark. "Mia, what are you doing out here?"

Amara appeared beside him, her gaze scanning the surroundings. "We should get you back to your dorm. It's not safe."

Mia hesitated, feeling a strange pull towards the darkness. "I... I had a bad dream. I needed to get out."

Kai's expression softened. "We've got you, Mia. We'll walk with you."

As they walked, the figures from her dream appeared again, their faces twisted in cruel smiles. The Michelsons, their eyes flashing with triumph. The sound of whispers grew louder, a chilling mantra: "Ours, ours, ours..."

Mia stumbled, her grip on reality wavering. Kai and Amara caught her, their voices distant.

"We've got you, Mia. You're safe."

But was she? Or was she walking straight into the heart of the storm?
