Chapter 1 Starting with a Free Property Am I dead?
Qi Han tentatively reached out, trying to touch his surroundings. His hands were still his own, but they had a distinctly illusory quality.
A multicolored black? Where was he? Was this what the afterlife looked like?
The surroundings were distorted, and Qi Han couldn't even sense the size of his surroundings.
The boundaries of this world seemed so close, yet so far away.
[Yes, you are dead.]
"Who?"
The sudden voice was somewhat erratic, startling Qi Han, who quickly turned to look around.
[This system is an otherworldly gourmet system. Congratulations on becoming the first host of this system. This system will dedicate itself to helping the host promote the cuisine of Earth in this other world.]
The amount of information was overwhelming, but Qi Han quickly calmed down.
"You are my system?"
[Yes.]
"But I'm already dead, what use are you now?" Qi Han said pessimistically. "You just said you're an otherworldly gourmet system? Can you let me travel to another world after I die?"

He quickly found the door to the hut, pushed it open, and kicked up a cloud of dust.
The bright light shone on Qi Han's face, allowing him to see a corner of this strange world.
The surrounding area was a simple village, nestled among mountains, seemingly isolated from the world.
People were scattered throughout the village; upon seeing Qi Han, they weren't particularly surprised, with only a few glancing at him before looking away.
He could vaguely hear the villagers talking in a language completely unfamiliar to him, yet he was surprised to find himself easily understanding them.
"Very good, this makes sense."
"System?"
Qi Han silently murmured to himself.
[What is it, host?]
"Where's my newbie gift pack?"
Seemingly unprepared for its first host's helpfulness, the system remained silent for a moment. After a while, the system's mechanical voice finally came through.
[Congratulations, host, on arriving in another world. A newbie gift pack is now being issued: a restaurant of your own.]

Qi Han was secretly delighted. He thought he'd have to prepare the shop himself, as usual, but instead, he was given it as a newbie gift.
However, considering his current state of utter poverty in this world, it seemed unlikely he could afford to set up a shop.

This quest is something else.
Qi Han carefully examined the quest and then asked, "System, what kind of recipes can I get randomly?"

An ancient scroll appeared out of thin air in his hand. Qi Han opened it with great interest, intending to see what this other world was like.
However, his smile quickly vanished.
A golden five-pointed star was clearly marked on the map, obviously indicating the location of the shop from the beginner's gift pack.
The city where the shop was located was called Shrek City.
Looking further at the largest green area on the map, it was called the Star Dou Great Forest. The two largest countries on the map were the Star Luo Empire and the Heaven Dou Empire.
"System?"
[What is it, Host?]
"Why do I, someone who transmigrated to Douluo Continent, have a gourmet system???"
Shouldn't I be given an invincible system?
