Chapter 1 - The Chase

Melina dances in his thoughts. Her sweet voice and touch, suddenly bringing him back to that sandy beach.

She danced in the sands, her hair streaming behind her in a twirling motion with her figure. The sun kissed the outline of her body, and her crimson eyes landed on him.

She smiled.

Morgan's eyes snapped open, a white pain shot in his chest as he groaned. He sat up groggily, the dead bodies of Cloud knights and Mara-strucked littered around him.

He could hear groans, blood everywhere mixed with gold and red. His eyes darted to the spear stuck in his gut, he breathed out. Then, slowly gripped his hands on the handle and yanked it out.

He screamed in agony, blood spilling as the blade slid across the floor. His hands trembled, and then his wound re-stitched itself back together.

Finally, he felt much better.

'You're alive, no wonder I didn't vanish yet. The system's tone laced with sarcasm.'

Morgan huffed, the monotone voice in his head was the Isekai system he was given before reincarnating. He slouched on a pile of dead bodies behind him, cloud knights. He could care less about etiquette right now, he was severely exhausted.

"Arous," he said softly, hand laying on where his wound was, "How much IseL percent do we have?"

'You're down to fourty percent, not bad. Would you like to heal using two percent?' he asked.

IseL, was called Isekai Life units. A bar used to maximize his powers and abilities in this world, he could increase the percentage maximum to one thousand if he dared, which would require breaking his physical limits. And right now, he was only at 130 Max percentage, he was able to break to thirty after fighting multiple Mara-struck individuals.

"Yes please." He said.

The system inside him worked, he could feel his body becoming stronger, the exhaustion washing away as he was finally back to normal. He stood up, dusting his clothes as golden blood dripped from his fist. He couldn't use weapons, he didn't know how to.

'Mara-struck to your left.'

Morgan whipped his head to that direction, a mara-struck was shaking as they stood up. Gurgling with something and speaking gibberish. Their side arm blade used a way to stand up, when it saw him. It screamed something incoherent and lunged.

Morgan swiftly sidestepped, and balled his fist and slammed it to its back mid air.

The air cracked, the Mara-struck's body cut in half as the upper body went flying into a wall. The lower body splattered golden blood, and the walls were smeared with the abomination's blood ahead.

'Should I point out how strong you've become? I think I'm not cut out for that.' the system said in his mind, no tone, no expression, just solid and soulless.

"You're supposed to congratulate me," He said, looking at the dead bodies, "you know like in the manga or manwhas?"

'Ah! The system said with sarcasm and shock. You are comparing me to mindless systems, a.k.a. Idiots. You should know better I'm better. The system huffs.'

Morgan chuckled, he picked his way across the dead bodies and into another Street of Xianzhou Luofu. Here, more bodies piled, but there were Cloud knights patrolling now.

"Hey," He called, "where's the evacuation center?"

As he approached, the Cloud knights glanced at him.

"You're this far in the danger zone?" One them said through their helmet, "Come on, it's too dangerous. You're lucky you're still alive."

Morgan kept a snort to himself, indeed he was. Anyone who didn't have a system like him would've died a long time ago. And as they led him back to a safe area, he saw a group of civilians running beside the Xianzhou General. He looked at the girl wearing a black jacket skirt, golden eyes, and hair almost silver.

He blinked.

'Thats them! The System exclaims, recognizing the Astral Express members.'

Morgan left the two Knights baffled as he ran to follow them. They chased after him, calling out but their words fell on deaf ears.

He reached for his powers inside him, and the IseL drained, his muscles relaxing, and his vision became better. He could see further ahead, the Astral Members turning to a corner, and he leaped to a building top.

"Hey!" The cloud knights yelled, "that's dangerous, you need to stay out of here!"

Morgan turned to them, "I'm sorry gents, but I can handle myself from here on out." Then, he leaped across another building.

His IseL powering him, strengthening him. And all it took was four percent of IseL. He could regain more by fighting, or doing physical activities. They were easy to get.

As he jumped across buildings, cargos, and following a little behind from the Astral Members, he couldn't help but shake off the feeling of being watched.

"Keep watch of anyone trying to monitor me." He said to Arous, the system.

'Got it. Are you sure it's not the general sensing you? the system asks.'

"You don't have to add that last part."

'I will. Its the only thing keeping you from understanding my point of view, dear Reincarnator.'

He smirked, landing to another building and leaping up to another.

"That's not true." He says, "I can understand you well enough without some context or form of exposition."

'Perhaps, but you are a reincarnator and I am your system, meaning I get to be expressive and expository.'

He landed softly on the ground, here he lost track of the group. That was strange. He followed them until the end didn't he? He shouldn't have—

"Well, well, well." A woman's voice floated to his ears, "Look who finally got the bait."

'Run!'

He didn't need to know who the person behind him was, he flared with IseL and instantly shot up towards the sky. They found him already, Kafka and her band of mischiefs.

'Shes using strings to catch, evade to the right.' Arous said.

Morgan complied, doing a quik swerve to the right, from the corner of his vision, hundreds of strings whizzed past his head.

He adjusted his momentum, flying back where he went. Unfortunately, he heard someone from behind, he craned his head and saw a man gaining speed at him.

Black Long hair, eyes devoid of anything but emotion, he extended his hand and a sword materialized. He swung it, the air sliced with darkness as it cut through his direction.

He tried to maneuver, but the warping slice instantly cut his flesh, blood spilled out and the stinging pain surged inside him, he used IseL again, restiching it while flying steadily.

"You're not leaving." Blade said, his foot touched the air, as if there was an invisible floor and ran for him.

'Goodness, I didn't know he could do that. The system says with surprise.'

Morgan cursed, quickly swerving in all directions to hopefully get the man to slow down. It did not, instead it only made him slower.

Blade lunged, sword aiming for his gut as Morgan couldn't take anymore and stood upright. He danced to the left, avoiding another swung from Blade, as he leaped up and infused his fist with wind.

He might not have a weapon, but he can fire an invisible force of energy towards him with just a punch in the air. And he sent multiple towards Blade.

The man jumped back, dancing from the forces and deflecting one with his blade. He twisted, the energy went passed him and struck the ground below. Leaving a large crater that would've flattened anyone to paste.

Blade tried to look for him, but he found no one.

His eyes widened, ducking down as something passed over him.

Morgan cursed again, that would've cut the man's head off his shoulders. Even if he would regenerate, he could still escape. He hovered back, and did an amateurish stance with his fist.

Blade simply looked at him, and finally spoke.

"We're not here to kill you."

Morgan frowned.

"Really? I sure as Aha know you were trying to stab me."

Blade shook his head, sword dissipating into small dots of light.

"I could kill you easily now. Just no benefit from it."
