Synopsis
"I promise, I wanted to just be an observer. And I will stay that way, I mean it. But this story got soo boring, I had to poke it with a stick. So I added three external variables to see how the trajectory of the world's plot would change. And change it did, hihi." -- Yu Kaedehara awoke in a white room with nothing, not even memories of how he got there. A mechanical voice introducing itself as "Arc" guides Yu through a series of trials that Yu had no choice in but to participate. But supernatural skills, HP bars and other RPG elements were not what he expected to gain going through all of this. With a mysterious new power he solved the riddles whilst figuring out where he was. But when he met Lia and Kouji, two familiar faces, resistance against the Arc was near - but so was the truth of this world, of what was to come. What happened to this world? And what was Yu's place in it?

Chapter 1 - The Contents Of A Certain Box

The noises of the car and the streets were loud. But none of those could triumph over Kouji's loud noises. Somehow, he always managed to be the loudest in the room.

"...and then, we'll drop you off and I'll advance it to the best of my abilities. It is a perfect plan, isn't it?"

This was not how Yu would have described a perfect plan but what did he know. Yu silently nodded to give him the affirmation he wanted, ignoring his own brains' protests about the millions of ways on how this could backfire. But he thought it best not to interfere as of right now, especially not with the situation between Kouji and him being that tense as of late. Kouji and Yu continued the drive in silence until they reached the destination. Kouji, who was the one driving, was humming by himself now, eager for what is to come. Yu, on the passenger's seat, leaned against the window, glaring out into the world.

"Yu, can you spot her?"

Yu tried to look around and peek a glance at the by now very clearly defined picture of her that he had. He scanned the entire environment for her presence but was not able to find her. Slowly turning his head to Kouji, whom he called Kou, Yu asked: "Are we at the correct address?"

Kou looked at him, first with a neutral expression, then with one in panic.

"Did she give us a false address??"

"How would I know man, let's check again."

Panicked, Kou stopped his car at the side of the road and grabbed his phone to check his messages for any mistakes he might have made.

"No... this should be correct", he then remarked.

They were at a bus stop near an older, industrial looking part of the city. There were a lot of company buildings around them, and they were at the bus stop of this area's train station.

"Where on earth is her school?", he asked, slightly frightened about the prospect of possibly being at the completely wrong address.

Yu tried to glance around and find her himself. That is when he spotted her. Sitting at the bus stop by her lonesome, umbrella in hand, a sleek pouch looking handbag around the shoulder. Enveloped in a classy coat, she had an elegant vibe around her. To Yu, she always had this elevated, untouchable aura surrounding her. A subtlety he found highly intriguing from the start.

"There she is", Yu muttered.

Immediately. Kou's head rose up from his screen, first staring at Yu, then following his glance towards her.

"There she is!"

Looking back, it was a complicated dynamic, one that had a lot of possibilities. But Yu would have never surmised that opening that box would have led to an outcome like this.
