Chapter 1 - 1. The Usual Reincarnation and System

Many reincarnators in stories wanted to be the strongest, the best, especially those in Immortal Cultivation Stories. Always aiming to be the top cultivator, ascending to heaven, being an immortal, whatever it was.

Maybe that was just how chinese romance was, and it was not bad. It was just too much for some people, and it was the case for Jamie Lin, a half-chinese who somehow got reincarnated in a Cultivation World.

He didn't even know why he was chosen to reincarnate here, and without any briefing at that. It was confusing because he was just a half-chinese who had never set foot in China before and couldn't even speak their language.

His mom who was a pure chinese couldn't even speak Mandarin that well because she had moved to America since she was a child.

The only chinese things he ever did were watching chinese short dramas that always appeared in Reels, reading Chinese manhua or novels, joining Chinese events like Chinese New Year, and eating Chinese food.

.... Well, even non-chinese did that.

Yet for an unknown reason, he was reincarnated in the usual Chinese Immortal Cultivation World.

How did he know? Well, let's just say the clue was too clear.

He still vividly remembered that he was just going home from work. After a long tiring day of work, he was just about to relax a bit in a small restaurant and had dinner.

Though it seemed the universe didn't want him to even enjoy that short happiness. He had just enjoyed his walk after dinner when out of nowhere, lightning struck his body directly. His death was accompanied by sudden heavy rain never seen before in that area.

The next thing he knew, he was awake in an unknown place. Confusing? Of course. Scary? No need to ask. Worried? Who won't. Anxiety?Somebody that he used to know.

All kinds of emotions fill his mind and he couldn't even express them because of the chilling night cold.

"I didn't die?"

The first thing in his mind was that he survived the lightning.

"This place doesn't look like a hospital though."

A wooden building with holes everywhere. Dirt piled up everywhere, as well as spider webs on walls and ceilings. There was no way this was a hospital.

When looking at himself to check his condition, Jamie realized that it wasn't just the situation that looked strange. He also looked strange.

His clothes were like the ones he saw on those short chinese historical dramas. The ones used by commoners, of course. He was sure he never had these kinds of clothes.

[Activating System....]

"WHAT THE HELL!!?"

Jamie jumped in surprise when he suddenly heard a robotic voice. But it wasn't just a sound, a strange floating screen suddenly appeared in front of him as well.

He tried to push it back, but his hand just passed through the screen. His years of reading novels, manga, manhwa, manhua, watching animes and all those things made him realize what happened immediately.

"I am..... Reincarnated in another world?"

[System active!]

[Hello, host.]

[Answering host's question. Yes, you are reincarnated. This is God's compensation for mistakenly killing you.]

According to the system's explanation, the one who should be struck by lightning was a dog. Yet, I was the one walking on that street.

"No way! Was it the dog that I scared off? Dammit! I should've minded my own business."

On his way to get dinner, a dog walked past Jamie. He was bored, so he surprised the dog by barking loudly a few times and chased the dog for a while. Who would have thought that would lead to his death?

[Even if that was the case, the lightning should still go after the dog. It was the carelessness of the Angels of Death's management that killed you. So as a compensation, the All-Mighty God sent you to this world that is under His management because he couldn't just reincarnate you in the previous world. I am created to assist you in this life.]

A system and chinese clothes. There was only one place that matched these 2 clues, that Chinese Fantasy Immortal Cultivation World.

"Wait! It can be a Korean Murim World."

[This is Immortal Cultivation World.]

"Tsk!"

Jamie didn't have good impressions of the Immortal Cultivation World. After all, this world was filled with retards.

If you were weak, you won't survive. Yet if you were strong, idiots would make trouble with you, and stronger people would try to kill you.

If you were talentless, you didn't have any future. Yet if you were a genius, people would be jealous and troubled you. They would even bring their brother, father, uncle, grandfather, anyone who should have great wisdom because of their age to kill you.

The so-called Cultivators who were said to pursue the truth and have loved for thousands of years often acted like spoiled brats with an inferiority complex, unbefitting of their ages.

People were incredibly petty, being offended by anything and seeking revenge on every chance. Idiots were everywhere, bothering you on every turn.

Older and stronger people were jealous of younger people with great talents. They only cared about their descendants or their sects' disciples.

The so-called righteous Cultivators were hypocrites. The evil Cultivators massacred innocents with no care.

They say it's the Law of The Jungle. But Jamie always thought these Immortal Cultivation worlds used the Law of Connections.

If you defeated someone, even if it's through a fair competition, their brother, father, teacher, uncle, grandfather, anyone behind them would go after you because everyone was incredibly petty, like 5 year old brats, even though they were really old.

"Sigh, out of all options, why am I sent to this world? Isn't this more of a punishment than compensation? Those japanese adventure fantasy worlds are better options, aren't they?"

[Sorry, host. This is God's decision.]

"Is it because I'm half-chinese?"

[That played a big part. In those Immortal Cultivation stories, it was always chinese people who were sent. The same also happened in those japanese isekai stories.]

"Right. At the very least, in all the stories I knew, it was always japanese that got isekai-ed. South Korea is always number one in their manhwa. Immortal Cultivation world is also just accessible to chinese people. Well, the writers would glorify their countries instead of other countries, that makes sense."

[God knows you like those slow-life stories where you can live peacefully. So He specially prepared me, a system that could help you live peacefully in this world. But whether you would do that or not is still up to you.]

"Hmm, there's nothing wrong with trying at least. But system, you are actually more worrying than this world itself."

[What do you mean?]

"Wait! You, are you really my helper?"

[... What?]

This is the 1st day of a Cultivator with a Trust Issue.
