Chapter 1 - 1. Where you belong Part 1

"You have to be strong, Sunny, cause this is your destiny." A male voice called out to him.

"You have to win at all costs!!." Something called out to him. The voice slowly fading into the distance.

One Year Ago.

18th September.

It was Sunny's 18th birthday.

Everyone was getting ready for the celebration, his friends, his family all gathered to celebrate.

"Congradulations man." One of his friends muttered.

"T-thanks. I really appreciate it." Sunny replied.

The cake was a large chocolate flavored masterpiece, topped off with vanilla icing spelling out "Happy Birthday!."

Ending it with two candles showing the 19th.

Everyone gathered around Sunny, ready to sing the iconic song which they all hated.

But then Sunny's father stood up immediately, his old and sickly body trying its best to stand.

His mother held onto his side, supporting him.

He looked at his wife and she looked back, they both nodded at once.

Then Sunny's mom turned her gaze towards him, her expression one of pure sadness.

Baby…" his mother began, her voice already breaking. "No matter what happens, you need to know we love you."

Sunny frowned. "Mom? What's going on?"

His father inhaled sharply.

"You're not our biological son."

The words didn't register at first.

The candles flickered.

"What?"

"We found you," his father continued."Eighteen years ago. In the forest. Alone."

The air felt heavier in the room, as if time itself stopped.

"You weren't crying," his mother whispered. "You were…just watching us."

A strange chill crawled down Sunny's spine.

"The truth," his father said, his voice hardening, "is that you're not human."

Silence swallowed the room.

"You're one of them. A werewolf."

Gasps erupted.

Sunny's heartbeat pounded in his ears.

"I wanted to leave you there," his father snapped.

"Those monsters attack our town every year. They slaughter people. But your mother insisted we raise you. Teach you how to be human."

"Harold!" his mother cried.

"Look at yourself!" his father shouted. "The strength. The way you heal. The cravings. Haven't you noticed?"

"Youre just like the rest of them, a werewolf through and through. You disgust me more than you know." He told Sunny.

Sunny just stared as tears started falling down his cheek, he didn't even register it at first.

Everyone at the party soon started leaving, they didn't want to get involved with whatever was happening.

"Umm. We'll talk to you later buddy." One of his friends uttered, they wanted to reach out but they were too scared.

Soon the house emptied out completely, Sunny just sat there as the candles flickered, the numbers melting onto the cake.

"Look at you. Pathetic, I can't even.... I want you out of my house immediately. You understand me!!." His father shouted, coughing heavily.

"Harold that is enough, he may be different now but he's still yours, please just look at him." His mother uttered, her eyes filled with unshed tears.

Harold turned and looked at Sunny, he saw a little crying boy who was scared.

And for a moment, he felt sorry but immediately covered it up. "Get that thing out of my sight, his no son of mine!!."

He told Sunny before slowly turning around to leave, his movements were uncoordinated.

Sunny's mom followed him, she looked back with tears before vanishing. Sunny just sat there, his gaze lowered towards the cake.

With a shaky breath, he leaned forward and blew the candles out. "Happy....birthday to....me..." he muttered as the lights went out.

At night, Sunny couldn't sleep at all, his mind kept taking him back to what his father had said.

Next door, his parents were arguing, his mother trying her best to calm the anger of his father.

"Damn. They're really going at it... all because of me..... " he thought.

He got up and grabbed a duffle bag, he packed most of his possessions and decided to leave.

Around 2am, he slowly opened the window to his room. He managed to get down safely.

He walked towards the street, the cold night air hitting him hard.

"Okay, where do I go now??" He asked himself.

He started walking, not really sure where he was going or how to get there. The only thing he knew was that wolves lived in the forest.

He barely made it to the third house when a beam of light flashed him from behind. He slowly looked back, nerves on high alert.

"Sunny, please get in the car sweetie." His mothers voice called out to him as she dimmed the headlights.

Sunny sighed as he slowly made his way to the car, his gaze down cast. He opened the door and sat in the passenger seat.

His mother soon joined him, "Sunny, I think it's time you go back to where you belong." She told him, as she started the engine and drove off.

The trip was long and quiet, barely anything was said between the two of them.

"Sweetie, I know this may seem a bit unfair to you but please just know we never wanted you to know." She spoke.

Sunny sighed deeply, he really didn't know how to respond. "Well, yeah it is extremely unfair and completely bullshit."

"But i just dont get it, why now after all this time, you could have at least told me awhile back instead of completely destroying me in front of the whole neighbourhood."

He asked, his voice cracking slightly. His mother didn't look at him, not yet, her focus on the road ahead.

"Sweetie, your father and I can't have kids of our own.....," she started, her grip on the wheel tightening.

"It all happened 20 years ago. Your father got really sick, he could barely walk. When we went to the hospital, the doctor conducted some tests on him."

"It turned out one of those tests was a fertility test, and they said he could never have kids of his own."

"He was extremely bitter about it as well, he didn't want to see anyone after that. I tried everything but it only made him angrier."

She paused, turning her gaze towards him for a few seconds.

"Then one day while driving to a friend's wedding, we broke down by the side of the road. I needed to use the bathroom so I left your father to handle everything."

"Then I saw you laying in the bushes, you didn't even make a sound. But when I held you, you...."

She wiped some tears away.

"You smiled at me, it was the most beautiful thing i ever saw. And the first time in two years ... I was happy."

"You made me happy.....which is why i managed to convince your father to keep you around but now..."

She looked at him, her free hand patting his head.

"Sunny. No matter what happens or happens, I just want you to know that I will always love you no matter what you are."

She told him.

Sunny felt a warm spread through him, he leaned into her touch.

The drive continued on, it was still quiet but the tension was gone.

Sunny's mother stopped by a dense forest area in a remote part of the country. The trees stretched on for miles.

"Well this is it.....this is where i found you all those years ago..." she told him.

Sunny stepped out of the car and looked towards the dense forest. He felt a shiver down his spine.

As he started walking towards it, his mother stepped out and called to him. When he turned she hugged him tightly one last time.

"Take care of yourself sweetie." She told him.

Sunny hugged her back, "I will mom, I will." He replied.

His mother took off her bracelet and placed it in his hand. "Here, for good luck of course." She muttered.

With that sunny walk into the forest, he did what was waiting for him but he knew he could handle it.

But he felt like something was watching him, but he didn't know what.
