Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 - Cold Gaze, Hot Temper.

Savannah's House

Savannah was on her way home from a long day at the hospital. It was odd, being told to go to Hospital instead of the Mansion.

Ealier this morning she had received a message from the hospital, instructing her to be there today. It all seemed peculiar, but she decided not to dwell on it. She had always been hesitant about going to the Mansion, and avoiding it today felt like a relief.

The hospital director assured her that it was just for today. She would be able to go back to her regular routine of visiting the Mansion starting tomorrow.

After pressing her floor in the elevator, she waited a few seconds until the elevator door opened.

Once outside her apartment door, she noticed an envelope-like piece of paper on the ground. She picked it up, hoping to find a clue to its origin, but it was just a plain white envelope.

Savannah tucked it into her purse, rang the doorbell, and to her surprise, the door swung open to reveal her only son and her close friends Sophia and Natty, who quickly pulled her inside for a surprise gathering.

The inside of the apartment made Savannah want to throw her hands up in disbelief at what her friends had done to her place. Everything was a mess, with undefined bottles scattered around, cans of beer thrown everywhere, food scattered on the floor, and clothes strewn about. She looked at her friend sharply and then turned the other way, trying to make sense of the chaos.

"What's going on here?" They smiled innocently, yet cheekily, and then said, "We celebrated a little." Savannah arched her brows at their reply, intrigued by the mischief in their eyes.

Natty, who had been gazing off into the distance, now stepped forward. "Sav, you know what?" she said, taking Savannah's hands in hers and casting a curious glance at her friends. "Her date went well," she cheerfully announced, while Sophia stood shyly beside her. The air was filled with a sense of excitement and happiness.

"Are they officially together?" she asked, shocked, as she glanced at Sophia, who was still standing shy. "Is it true?" Savannah asked her. Sophia nodded happily.

Savannah went to her and congratulated, "Okay, I understand, but that doesn't mean you guys can just barge in and mess up my entire place as if it had been hit by a something big."

"I want this place cleaned before I wake up in the morning," they both looked at each other in confusion at what Savannah had just said, but when they finally understood, they hugged each other enthusiastically.

"That means you'll join them too, mommy?" little Theo asked as he sat on the couch with his arms folded in front of his chest.

"Just a little, baby, as I'm exhausted as well," his mother replied, walking up to him and sitting next to him.

He nodded and turned to her, "Times up for me, I'm gonna sleep now mommy, love you." He kissed her cheeks before going to his room. "Aww, cute little family, adorable," Sophia and Natty cooed watching them.

"I'll be back."

Baldwin's Mansion

In the steaming cocoon of his hot tub, Blaze reclined with his damp hair slicked back, eyes closed, arms resting on the rim like a king in quiet contemplation. The scent of eucalyptus clung to the air, mingling with the hiss of bubbling water. His sculpted chest, inked in bold black lines and half-submerged, gleamed beneath the soft, diffused light. Tattoos sprawled across his arms and crept up his neck like shadows—sharp, deliberate, and impossible to ignore. The dark ink contrasted strikingly against his skin, where even his veins, faint and visible beneath the surface, gave him the ethereal look of a living statue—something out of myth. A modern-day Greek god in repose.

His phone buzzed beside the tub, screen lighting up with an incoming call.

Without opening his eyes, Blaze lifted one hand lazily and tapped the screen with a wet index finger.

"Yeah," he murmured, his voice low and unhurried.

"Mr. Blaze," came a voice on the other end—clipped, anxious. "Still no trace of Mr. Morales. We've been looking for a week now, and frankly... I'm getting concerned."

Blaze didn't respond right away, his expression unreadable behind closed lids.

"Our business is hanging by a thread," the man continued, voice tightening. "If this goes on any longer, we may need to alert the authorities."

A pause hung heavy in the air, broken only by the quiet gurgle of the water.

"He died."

Out of nowhere, Blaze uttered something that left the speaker in shock.

"W-what, Mr. Baldwin?" he stammered, taken aback.

"He was so nonchalant with me, so I decided to slice him into pieces," Blaze said with an evil demour creeping across his face.

"Mr. Baldwin, are you—are you serious?" The speaker's voice faltered, disbelief edging his tone. He paused, as if trying to process what he'd just heard once again.

"Would you like some of his meat?" Blaze added, his tone chilling. "I would suggest a thigh piece, it's the best-" he continued. The speaker was left speechless, feeling terrified and now fearful of Blaze's intentions.

"M-m- Mr. Baldwin," the speaker managed to utter before Blaze abruptly ended the call. As Blaze stepped out of the tub and wrapped himself in a white robe, he picked up his phone from the edge of the tub and left the bathroom, leaving the speaker in a state of unease.

With a glass of wine in his left hand and an iPad in his right, he made his way down the stairs and sat on one of the couches in the living area.

Everything seemed different today, his whole mansion was in chaos, with his men rushing back and forth.

"Is everything done?" Blaze questioned Arthur, who stood beside him, eyes still on his iPad.

"Almost Boss, the study room is still a little messy, but they're doing their best," Arthur informed his Boss. Blaze just nodded, his eyes fixed on the screen.

"And about Ms. Miller?" he asked in a mysterious tone that was hard to decipher. "Yes, Boss, it's been taken care of," Arthur replied.

Blaze then started scrolling through Savannah's Socialgram account, carefully examining every picture and piece of information she had posted. But why? His eyes caught a specific photo of Savannah and Theo, looking happy and content.

However, Blaze's expression was anything but pleased. There was a hint of envy in his eyes as he clenched his fist around the iPad, almost breaking it. Arthur watched silently, his eyes shifting between his Boss and the broken iPad.
