Savannah's eyes met his, a flicker of something fleeting passing through her eyes— was it confusion, or something more than that, something deeper? A strange compound of incredulity and curiosity came over her face, as if what he said struck some chord in the world she knew. Her brow furrowed a little, and for a second, it seemed that she was looking for the right reaction—wondering whether to smile, ask why, or just let the quiet remain between them..
"Can-" just as Savannah started to speak Blaze cut her off.
His face was slightly smiley as he leant back to his seat and looked out. "I admire you for what you do, as a surgeon, as someome who's treating my father well and everyone else who came to you." he said.
And the silence stretched between them.
Blaze who gazed outside the window and Savannah who's eyes left left him.
And then-
"Who are you?" Came a question. Right through Savannah's mouth.
She didn't know how or why she blurted out that question? However, what goes on in your head might be said aloud without you being aware of it.
But Savannah did realized and it was late.
Arthur Blaze's assistant turned his head back to the back seat, where Savananh and Blaze was seating, his eyes darted toward Savannah .
But before she could say something more, the answer came right away.
"I'm Blaze Baldwin." Turning to her Blaze spoke.
His eyes were locked on hers, and Savannah had not expected a response from him. To her surprise, he did answer, although she already knew his name. Maybe he could have said something more than just that.
Savannah was not one to pry or interfere in other people's affairs, nor did she usually care. However, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of curiosity about Baldwin's situation.
There were times when she would sit in Mr. Baldwin's room and ponder, wondering about the people who lived in such luxury.
A moment of contemplating and bracing herself, "What do you do?" she asked her most awaited question.
Again, Arthur who was seated in the passenger seat glanced slightly back at her asked question, as for the driver? He watched back in rare view mirror.
"Do you need anything Arthur?" Suddenly a question came from Blaze who's eyes were now on Arthur.
"Yeah Boss, Mr. Kim texted, the meeting has been set for tomorrow," Arthur said "I was waiting for Ms. Miller to finish talking, my apologies Boss." Saying that he turned his head back straight.
"I'm a businessman who owns a huge medical company." Turning his eyes back to Savannah Blaze answered.
Savannah nodded her head in understanding, "What's your company called?" She asked getting more comfortable as he gave her direct answers.
But this time she did not get her answer, Blaze just looked at her whereas she waited for anything or something, but came non, but-
"Let's have a cup of coffee and continue with the rest of the intro," he said instead of answering her question.
Mysterious for sure.
And Savannah slightly nodded, maybe she was asking too much of a question.
20 minutes later
With a low whistle, the Mercedes came to a stop with its elegant silhouette lying on the sleepy path. Savannah moved to open the door, her delicate fingers grasping the cool metal door handle. But before she could swing it open, Blaze's hand shot out gently stopping her. The way he looked at her was unknown, maybe like he was being coy about something else or he just wasn't thinking, and before she could respond, he was already out of the car, leaving her with some confusion.
She stared at him for a second, her brows furrowed with uncertainty, trying to wrap her mind around his sudden move. But before she could figure it out, Blaze had opened the car door on her side and was positioned as if inviting/asking her to step out.
Savannah was left out of words by his gesture, a brief look of astonishment crossing her face. Was it a joke, or simply a re-arrangement of the power dynamic between the two of them? She didn't want to draw attention to herself, but she didn't know what was going on, so she slid out of the car, natural yet hesitant, as if stepping into an experience she hadn't fully grasped yet.
"Thank you for dropping me off." Savannah said with a small smile on her face.
"I hope you still remember my words...?" He questioned instead.
A brief confusion was written on her face before she grasp what he meant.
"Of course, I do, but you came all the way here to drop me off, so I should thank you, I really, really appreciate that." He nodded as if thinking something, "Thank you too then" Savannah knitted his brows at his response.
"Thank you for coming all the way to the mansion, I really appreciate it as well." Savannah nodded her head "Very well, we are even now." She reponses back
For a brief moment Savannah wondered if she was becoming too close to him?
"I'll go inside, good night." Bidding her goodbye savannah saifd
"Go inside, it's already late." bidding final goodbye, sge headed inside without turning back.
Savannah's House
Savannah's room was like a sanctuary to her, especially her bed. It was the one place where she could truly relax and find peace. During her time at the Baldwin's mansion, she found herself longing for the comfort of her own bed.
Upon returning to her apartment, she made sure to take care of everything, from finishing up work to tucking Theo into bed.
She had originally planned to text Theo that she would be late and order takeout for him, but he insisted on waiting for her.
She was lost in her thoughts until her phone tinged with a message. She reached for it on her bedside table, but as she took it, something else caught her attention - a white envelope she had found outside her apartment door.
Setting her phone aside, she decided to check the envelope. Unfortunately, she couldn't find a name or address on it.
As she carefully opened the envelope, she found a folded piece of paper inside, she opened it to find a notice?
She was stunned, in disbelief, Is this a joke? Why suddenly now? What's happening? Savannah had many questions in her head and no answers, so she grabbed her phone and called the person who sent it to her.
The phone rang, but no one answered.
She dialed again and after the fourth ring, the person picked up but Savannah did not wait for her response.
"Mrs. King, how could you do this to me?" Savannah spoke in utter disbelief.
"Savannah I-" Savannah cut her off mid-sentence, "How can you tell us to vacant this apartment?"
