Chapter 31
Alpha Kendrick sat for hours. He was sad that he couldn't do anything. He held Rae's hand, squeezing it softly after the Healer made it clear to him that the chances of her survival were slim and it would take a miracle for her to wake.
Layla walked into the room after she was directed by the Healer. She held the tray and dropped it when she saw Rae's body.
"What are you doing here?"
"You've not had anything, and I figured you were famished, so I brought you a meal. How's she feeling?" Layla responded as she kept her eyes glued to Rae. She couldn't deny the chemistry between the Alpha and Rae. He cared so much about her that he neglected his own beta to stay with her.
"There are chances that she might not survive. She's still breathing." Alpha Kendrick had hope that she was going to survive and be better.
"I never said I was hungry… how did you know that I was going into a trap?" Alpha Kendrick inquired turning his eyes to Layla.
