Chapter 1 - Not Dead Yet

"Thanks for your purchase; The Lightingbird courier company awaits your next order," said a middle-aged delivery man.

Armin gave him a moment of odd look and then redirected his attention to the parcel.

He signed the stylish contract, took the package, and went to his apartment.

It took only ten minutes for him to grab the parcel and return to his apartment; Perhaps because of this fast and professional work of Lightingbird courier Company, he always orders his packages only from them.

"This much will be sufficient for now."

Armin pushed open the door of his small apartment room. Upon entering the apartment room, he first retrieved scissors from the small cupboard, then sat on the single wooden bed.

Despite the apartment being compact and old, it was rather clean and with a proper ventilation system. The room's contents were in neat order. It also emitted a sweet odor. This signifies the occupant's obsession with cleanliness.

Armin unwrapped the seal on the package and opened the box. It contained some pain-killer drugs and an eyedropper. The pharmacist had stapled the receipt and a discount card showing his repeat purchases to the box cover.

'Lately, I'm depending on these medicines too much, doctor suggested that I should do some workouts, but…' he thought, taking some pills; He put aside his medication and strolled toward the window and peeked down.

Because of the weekend, the park near Armin's apartment was bustling with a crowd of varied-age groups; Some children were merrily shouting and jumping; Older ones were busy with their gossiping, and senior citizens were exercising some strange moves to which Armin felt amused.

"It's too crowded here, sigh…"

His dry, black hair fluttered while the tepid wind pecked at his slightly pale body as he sat beside the window, basking in the dusky light.

"Oye…Sam, help me here; Mr. Louis requested us to re-check his water pipelines again; it seems previous batch of workers didn't do their job well," a shout resounded in the shabby-looking room.

𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈...𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒈,

"Today's my day to go home, old man; I'm not coming, and also, wasn't the pipeline repaired three days prior only how can it get problems so soon." Sam said in an irritated tone.

Old man's mood soured instantly after getting a blunt rejection, but he composed himself to show a broad smile and pleaded, "Don't just reject the offer; You know that there are very few experts in this field, and Mr. Louis also promised double the payment this time, so…"

"So what? Anyway, I'm not going to that building anymore; You remember that tenant from apartment number 106. Even if you pay me triple the amount, I do not dare cross his path again. He almost murdered me that day!" said Sam timidly.

"Are you talking about that fragile boy? How can that be? He seems to be so innocent and timid to me? He even apologized to me for bumping into him — such a well-mannered kid. You must've overworked yourself and gotten over-paranoid." Said the old man, "To think that one day a kid will scare a prodigy like you."

Sam's face turned blue with anger; He protested while pointing at the tall building where Armin lives, "Look over there, at that gloomy and scary eyes. I heard he is also an Anti-social personality disorder patient. He may look harmless, but he is not the innocent kid you're talking about."

He gulped loudly and said again, somewhat fearfully, "I even heard from the other tenants building that he had already killed someone."

The old man just cast a glance at the pointed direction briefly and then turned towards Sam, "Don't believe in those baseless rumour it's rude. Now stop talking about that kid and come with me," he said bitterly.

"…"

"Stop daydreaming and move your a$$ to work; What happened?" said the old man, seeing his stupefied face.

"He jumped…"

"What?…"

"He…he jumped down from the window!" Sam pointed his finger in a direction and blurted some words.

In a purely and infinitely white space

"…"

"So…why am I not dead yet?"
