Chapter 1 - Unnamed

Title: Transmigrated as a Rat, So What?

---

Season One: Awakening in the Walls

Chapter 1: Game Over

The last thing he remembered was the electric jolt.

One second, Hiro was slipping on the Apple Vision Pro, his neural chip synced to full capacity. A legendary dungeon event had just dropped in MythRaiders: Eternal Delve, and he wasn't about to miss it. Lights flared, system prompts shimmered in his view, and the buzz of virtual immersion crawled up his spine.

Then-darkness.

Not the usual loading screen.

Not respawn.

Just... void.

Suddenly, a faint white glow emerged in front of him. A massive screen blinked into existence.

> [SYSTEM INITIALIZING...] [ERROR: USER NEURAL LINK FAILURE] [FATAL ELECTRIC SHOCK DETECTED] [BRAIN SIGNAL: TERMINATED]

> [YOU HAVE DIED.]

> [TRANSMIGRATION INITIATED.] [WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF KAER'THAL.] [RACE: RAT - INFANT.]

"WHAT?!" he screamed-but it came out as a squeaky, pitiful squeak.

Tiny limbs flailed in panic. He was lying on a bed of damp straw. His nose twitched uncontrollably. Fur. Whiskers. A tail.

He was a rat.

The screen didn't go away.

> [CLASS: NONE. LVL: 1. TITLE: THE UNFORTUNATE.]

"System!" he cried. "This has to be a bug! A rat?! I'm gonna isekai YOU if you don't fix this!"

> [ERROR. SYSTEM INTERPRETS THREAT. CALCULATING DEFENSE PARAMETERS...]

> [...]

> [SYSTEM APOLOGIZES. TRANSMIGRATION ERROR. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE A HERO. ALLOCATION MISROUTED TO SUBSPECIES.]

"Fix it!"

> [UNABLE TO COMPLY. ONLY PATH FORWARD: EVOLVE. SURVIVE. ASCEND.]

His new rodent heart thumped in his chest. He could still see the neon faint of his old HUD, faded but flickering. He was in a new world. But not as a warrior, not as a knight, not even as a peasant.

He was a squeaky, furless, pink-footed newborn rat.

---

Chapter 2: The Nest

He wasn't alone.

Around him, several other rat pups squirmed in the shadows. Their tiny forms moved against his, blind and mewling. The scent of stale bread and moss filled the air.

Instinct battled intelligence. He needed to survive-but he also needed to think.

> [NEW OBJECTIVE: LEARN BASIC MOVEMENT] [REWARD: +1 AGILITY | SKILL UNLOCK: "SCAMPER"]

He dragged his tiny body forward, flopping at first, then wobbling with purpose.

> [OBJECTIVE COMPLETE]

"Okay, okay. I can do this," he muttered, or tried to. It came out in short rasps.

He bumped into a crust of moldy cheese and paused.

> [ITEM ACQUIRED: STALE CHEESE CRUST] [HP RECOVERED: +1] [TASTE: DISGUSTING]

He almost cried.

From a dungeon raider with god-tier loot to a bottom-feeder with cheese scraps. How the mighty fall.

Great! Let's continue with:

---

Chapter 3: Scent of the Predator

The walls whispered.

Not in words, but in pressure-tiny tremors through the dirt and stone, subtle shifts in the musty air. Hiro, now a rat, instinctively crouched low. His fur bristled as a soft scritch-scratch echoed in the distance.

> [WARNING: PREDATOR DETECTED IN VICINITY.]

> [OBJECTIVE: HIDE IMMEDIATELY.]

He darted beneath a sliver of crumbled wall, just as a shadow stretched across the nest. The other pups didn't move, oblivious to the creeping danger.

Then, it appeared.

A cat.

Not the house variety. This thing was wild-its fur was matted and dirty, fangs stained yellow, one eye slashed and shut. The other locked onto the nest with razor-sharp focus.

Hiro's system pinged.

> [MONSTER IDENTIFIED: FEROCIOUS FERAL CAT - LVL 5] [DANGER LEVEL: EXTREME] [CHANCE OF SURVIVAL: 4%]

He didn't wait.

Using his newly unlocked Scamper skill, Hiro zipped deeper into a crevice, heart pounding, his mind racing. He watched, breath held, as the cat lunged forward-claws swiping. A horrible squeal echoed. One of the rat siblings didn't make it.

"Damn it," Hiro whispered.

> [NEW QUEST: ESCAPE THE CAT] [BONUS OBJECTIVE: LEAD OTHERS TO SAFETY. REWARD: ???]

Something clicked in him.

He could just survive... or he could lead.

Scampering back toward the nest, Hiro squeaked sharply, darting in and out, getting the attention of the others. Their small eyes, finally opened, followed him. He repeated the motion.

One moved.

Then another.

They followed.

The cat's head snapped toward him.

"Oh crap oh crap-GO GO GO!" Hiro squealed, dashing through the crevice, tiny siblings in tow.

The cat gave chase, smashing into the wall, trying to reach them. Dirt and pebbles rained down, but Hiro didn't stop. He had a map in his head now. The nest was connected to the old drain tunnel. If he could just get there-

> [OBJECTIVE COMPLETE!] [BONUS COMPLETE: +2 INT | SKILL UNLOCKED: "TACTICAL INSTINCT"] [NEW TITLE: THE TINY LEADER]

The group burst into the tunnel just as the wall behind collapsed, sealing the path. The cat was blocked out, yowling with fury.

Breathing heavily, Hiro collapsed.

He had lived.

He hadn't died.

And for the first time since waking up in this furry body... he felt a flicker of pride.

> [LEVEL UP! You are now Level 2.]

---

Chapter 4: Whispering Darkness

The tunnel beyond the nest was damp and narrow, lit only by faint phosphorescence from moss clinging to the walls. Hiro, now the de facto leader of four surviving ratlings, marched at the front, twitching his nose every few steps.

> [System Alert: Your Leadership Stat has increased by 1.] [Skill Growth: Tactical Instinct → Beginner Rank 2.]

"Guess being a rat doesn't stop me from leveling like a protagonist," he muttered.

The siblings behind him squeaked occasionally, skittish but slowly learning to follow his lead. Hiro had started giving them nicknames-One-Eye, Short Tail, Lazy Nose, and Biter. He wasn't even sure of their genders, but it helped with morale. Or maybe just his sanity.

Then, the air shifted.

Colder. Still. Wrong.

They entered a cavern where the tunnel widened into a small, circular room. At the center, a single pillar of cracked stone stood like a forgotten grave marker. Carvings spiraled up-ancient, indecipherable-but filled with dread. Something whispered in his mind.

> [You have entered: Forgotten Chamber of Slumber.]

> [WARNING: Unknown Entity Detected.]

> [Do you wish to initiate First Contact? Y/N]

"What the hell kind of tutorial dungeon is this?! I'm Level 2!"

The system flickered.

> [System Error... Contact Protocol Engaged Automatically.]

The carvings pulsed.

And from the base of the pillar... it emerged.

A shadowy figure. Not quite rat, not quite spirit. It floated, its body like threads of dark smoke wrapped in broken armor. A shattered mask hung over its face.

"...So," it spoke, voice like crumbling paper. "You're the one."

Hiro froze. "The one what?"

"The one who defies fate. The one not meant to live... yet does."

> [You have met: Forgotten Guardian - "Lady Veilfang"]

> [NEW QUEST UNLOCKED: Break the Seal]

> [QUEST REQUIREMENTS: Survive Her Trial.]

> [Difficulty: Nightmare.]

Hiro squeaked a profanity.

Veilfang raised her clawed hand-and suddenly, the floor erupted. Shadows clawed toward him, cold and fast. Hiro had a split second to react.

He leapt.

> [Skill Activated: Scamper]

He dodged, twisted, spun mid-air-but it wasn't enough. One shadow caught his leg. Pain lanced through him.

> [HP: 2/10]

"System!! Heal! Potion! Whatever!!"

> [ERROR: No healing items. No spells. Good luck.]

He gritted his teeth and dove behind a rock.

"This isn't a game anymore," he muttered. "This is a damn soul trial..."

And for some reason, he smiled.

"Let's see how far a rat can go."

---

Chapter 5: Trial of the Forgotten

The shadows swirled, rising higher like sentient smoke-snarling, clawing, mimicking beasts Hiro had never seen. At the center, Lady Veilfang hovered silently, arms crossed, eyes glowing behind the cracked mask.

"You fight not for glory, but survival," she said. "Show me your will."

> [TRIAL BEGINS: Survive 5 Minutes.]

A massive shadow-beast charged-eight legs, spiderlike, with the face of a wolf.

Hiro darted left.

> [Skill: Scamper - Evasion Boost +20%]

He slipped under the beast's legs, climbed a rock, and leapt onto its back. His claws dug in.

> [CRITICAL HIT: Weak point struck!] [+8 XP]

"Still not enough," Hiro growled, panting. "Need power...!"

> [SYSTEM RESPONSE: Emergency Evolution Pathway Detected.]

> [UNLOCK: Skill Fragment - "Gnawing Instinct"] [DESCRIPTION: Your teeth now pierce up to wood and bone. Bonus damage to enemies with carapace or armor.]

"Give it to me!"

> [Skill Acquired.]

He launched toward the second beast-a hulking frog-like thing with stone skin. Hiro ducked, dashed, and bit deep into its eye.

> [Skill Activated: Gnawing Instinct] [+22 XP] [HP +2 from Drain Effect]

Time slowed.

The shadows blurred-and Hiro's eyes widened.

He wasn't just seeing the shadows... he was sensing their intent.

"Whoa. What's this...?"

> [New Trait Unlocked: Foresight (Awakened Memory Fragment)] [Your implanted neural chip has reconnected with dormant brain nodes.]

> [You can now briefly sense incoming danger 1 second in advance.]

It was a game mechanic-one he'd seen in his VR titles.

He smirked.

"Now we're talking."

For the next minute, Hiro danced through the chaos. His body was small, but his timing was razor-sharp. Bites, kicks, and scampering counters. He moved like a blur.

The system pinged again.

> [Time Remaining: 30 seconds]

> [Veilfang is impressed.]

Suddenly, she raised her hand-and the shadows vanished.

"Enough."

Hiro collapsed, panting.

> [TRIAL PASSED.]

> [REWARD: Memory Link Restored.] [REWARD: Title Gained - "Tiny Survivor"] [REWARD: Bond Formed with Veilfang.]

She knelt before him, towering even in spectral form.

"I have slumbered for centuries. None passed this trial. Not even beasts. But you-you're different."

He blinked. "You gonna kill me?"

Veilfang laughed-a hollow, beautiful sound.

"No, child. I'm going to teach you."

A burst of blue light flared as she extended a clawed hand.

> [CONTRACT INITIATED: Would you like to form a Master-Apprentice Pact with Veilfang?]

> [Y/N]

Hiro, still shaking, grinned.

"Hell yeah."

He slammed [Yes].

Chapter 6: The First Forbidden Skill

> [Pact Formed - Master: Veilfang, the Forgotten Shadow]

The moment Hiro accepted, the air shifted.

Veilfang placed her clawed hand gently on his tiny rodent head. Ancient glyphs spiraled out, circling them both in faint violet light.

> [System Message: You have unlocked the "Shadow Archive." Access to hidden skills granted.]

> [New Passive Acquired: "Shadow Pact" - Increased resistance to dark magic. All Shadow-type skills cost 20% less stamina.]

"Woah..." Hiro blinked. "So this isn't just a dungeon guardian... you're a full-on legacy system?"

Veilfang's mask cracked slightly-revealing a smile.

"I was the final boss. Now, I'm your mentor."

Her hand moved again, and a menu opened only Hiro could see:

> [Skill Selection Interface - Apprentice Tier Unlocked]

Choose one:

1. Fang of the Void - Launch a high-speed dash attack that shreds enemies from behind. Ignores armor.

2. Veil Step - Teleport a short distance by melting into your shadow.

3. Soul Echo - Store a single move from an enemy and replay it with bonus damage.

Hiro scrolled, breathing heavily. His instincts screamed for Fang of the Void... but something deeper itched at him.

"Give me Soul Echo."

Veilfang raised an eyebrow. "Clever rat. That's a mimic's soul ability, not a warrior's. Are you certain?"

He nodded. "If I can use what they use, I don't have to be stronger. Just smarter."

> [Skill Acquired: Soul Echo]

[Note: You can now mimic a single enemy move every 24 hours.]

Veilfang's shadow spread across the floor, swallowing the dungeon's cracks and broken tiles.

"Then your training begins now. We'll awaken your primal instincts-and sharpen your mind like a blade."

She slammed her claw into the floor. A new chamber opened beneath them-filled with suspended illusions of monsters Hiro had never seen.

> [New Dungeon Layer Unlocked: The Hall of Phantom Beasts]

[Objective: Survive, Mimic, Conquer.]

As the ground collapsed beneath him, Hiro plummeted into a glowing arena.

From above, Veilfang whispered:

"Remember this, little one-it's not the size of the soul... it's how sharp it cuts."

---

Chapter 7: The Phantom Arena - First Kill Echoed

Hiro hit the arena floor with a thud.

Dirt and spectral mist churned around him, and the air buzzed with something ancient... hostile.

> [Warning: Soul Pressure Detected.]

> [Opponent Materializing: Phantom Beast - "Scalewing Raptor"]

[Level: 11 | Speed: A+ | Intelligence: Low | Weakness: Eyes]

A shriek pierced the air. A reptilian blur with glassy wings dropped from above, eyes glowing green. It moved like lightning, teeth longer than Hiro's whole body.

"System, analyze!"

> [Target Outranks You. Chance of survival: 17%. Suggest using terrain.]

"I always hated odds..."

He dove behind a stone slab just as the raptor pounced-shattering the rock like it was paper.

> [Stamina -12%]

He scampered, ears twitching.

Then it hit him. Soul Echo. He needed the right move. Something fast. Something deadly.

The beast flicked its tail-sharp as a scythe-and carved a trench through the floor.

> [Move Recorded: Tail Reaper Slash]

[Soul Echo Stored.]

"Now we're talkin'."

He baited the beast-ran in circles, zigzagging as it gave chase.

When it lunged again, Hiro jumped onto the scythe-tail, ran up the back, and-

> [Skill Activated: Soul Echo - Tail Reaper Slash]

His own tiny tail ignited with phantom energy.

"Catch this, dino!"

He spun-rat tail turned death blade-and slashed into the beast's neck.

> [CRITICAL HIT!] [Scalewing Raptor slain.] [+120 XP | +3 Attribute Points | Skill Memory Shard Dropped]

The corpse dissolved into mist.

> [Title Gained: "Echo Predator" - Bonus damage when copying enemy techniques.]

> [Skill Fragment Obtained: "Phantom Glide" (Incompatible until evolution.)]

Hiro panted, fur bristled, eyes wide.

He looked up.

Veilfang's voice echoed from the darkness: "Good. You learn quick."

Then silence.

Only the sound of Hiro's heart remained. Beating not with fear... but fire.

He clenched his tiny claw.

"I'm not just surviving... I'm evolving."

---

Chapter 8 - Nest of the Dead Ones

The deeper Hiro descended, the colder the air became. His tiny breath fogged as he crept through a crumbled tunnel that reeked of rot and forgotten time.

> [Dungeon Layer 2 - "Crypt of Forgotten Vermin"]

[Warning: High undead activity detected.]

[Objective: Survive. Optional Objective: Investigate the "Bone Relic."]

Bones crunched beneath his paws. Skulls of rodents-larger than him-lined the walls like cursed decorations. Their hollow sockets seemed to watch him.

"Y'know, this doesn't feel like beginner level content..."

A soft skittering echoed ahead. Then another. Then dozens.

> [Monsters Detected: Undead Plague Rats x24 | Level: 4-6]

[Threat: Moderate]

They crawled from the shadows, flesh torn, bones exposed. Their eyes glowed with red sparks. One hissed, its ribs clacking with dark energy.

Hiro's fur bristled.

"I don't have time to play tag with zombie rats."

He scanned the room-his system flickering, highlighting a ledge above. A cracked platform. Just enough space to jump.

> [Skill Ready: Wall Scramble (Basic Movement)]

He dashed, kicking off a broken rock, leaping onto the ledge. Undead rats lunged after him-only to tumble and pile below.

Then he saw it: embedded in a ribcage in the center of the nest-a relic. Pale and glowing faintly blue.

> [Bone Relic - Ancient Fragment (Unknown Origin)]

[Effect: ???]

[Touch to claim.]

"No trap? This feels trap-ish."

Still, he leapt down, landing with a puff of dust.

He placed a claw on the relic. It pulsed-then the world spun.

> [You've inherited a "Forgotten Memory." Initiating vision playback.]

A flash of light blinded him. Screams. A battlefield. Not rats-but humanoids. Mages, archers, a woman in a veil screaming, "Protect the relic at all costs!"

Then silence.

He gasped.

> [Skill Acquired: Forgotten Pulse - emits a wave that paralyzes low-level undead (Cooldown: 5 mins)]

[New Evolution Path Unlocked: Death Gnawer (Undead Affinity + Soul Drain Capabilities)]

He backed away as the undead rats regrouped. They hissed. But Hiro's eyes glowed faint blue now.

> [Skill Activated: Forgotten Pulse]

A wave pulsed outward like a heartbeat.

All 24 rats stopped. Shivered. Then collapsed.

> [Monsters Defeated: +240 XP]

[Level Up! Lv. 5 → Lv. 7]

[+5 Free Stat Points | Evolution Threshold Nearing]

Panting, Hiro sat on a skull.

"...Maybe being a rat isn't so bad."

Then the floor cracked.

The corpse pile shifted.

A giant skeletal snake rose from the pit, stitched with bones from a hundred dead rats. Its mouth opened, dripping black ooze.

> [Boss Monster Approaching: Bonecoil Serpent Lv. 15]

[Objective Updated: SURVIVE.]

Hiro stood slowly.

"Okay, maybe it's a little bad."

---

Chapter 9: Bonecoil Showdown A monstrous skeletal snake boss appears. Hiro uses timing, relics, and system boosts to barely win.

> [Boss Defeated! Level Up x3!] [Eligible for Evolution!]

---

Chapter 10: Evolution Hiro chooses to evolve into a hybrid class:

> [Evolved: Cryptborn Ratling] [Stats Boosted]

He now walks on two feet occasionally and can channel dark mana.

Chapter 11: The Master's

Whisper

The dungeon grew darker the deeper the little rat ventured. The air thickened, laced with magic. As he crawled through a narrow crevice, a hidden room opened before him, lit by ethereal blue flames. At its center sat a withered humanoid figure—an ancient master sealed in stasis. The rat's system buzzed with alert: "Hidden Quest Activated: Awaken the Forgotten One."

Chapter 12: System Sync The rat pressed his paw against the glowing sigil below the master. The room shook. The master's eyes opened slowly—sapphire pools filled with sorrow. "Who dares disturb my slumber?" he spoke, shocked to see a rat. As they stood there looking at one another. The system synced with the master's aura, and a surge of power flowed through the rat's tiny frame. New skills unlocked: Soul Sync and Mind Link.

Chapter 13: Lessons of the Fallen The ancient master, once a legendary adventurer, had failed to save his comrades and chose eternal slumber. Through Mind Link, he started teaching the rat ancient martial techniques, movement patterns, and energy control. Despite being a rodent, the rat learned shockingly fast. The master muttered, "Perhaps... fate chose you."

Chapter 14: Skill Overdrive Training day and night, the rat now dashed along dungeon walls, dodging traps and mimicking humanoid footwork. He could now channel energy into his strikes. One paw swiped a giant beetle's head clean off. The system chimed: "Skill Upgrade – Beast Combat Lv. 2. Evolution: Approaching Threshold."

Chapter 15: Memory Echoes The master allowed the rat to witness a glimpse of his past through a dream shard. In it, the rat saw dragons, armies, and betrayal. When the shard shattered, he awoke trembling but enlightened. "My path was riddled with regret. Yours must be different," the master said, fading slowly.

Chapter 16: Farewell of the Master The master gifted his soul core to the rat, causing his own form to dissolve into dust. "Carry my will... tiny warrior." The rat bowed solemnly, eyes glinting with purpose. New Skill: Soul Flame Strike. Hidden Achievement: Heir of the Forgotten Master.

Chapter 17: Evolution Ritual The system prompted him: "Would you like to evolve?" Surrounded by dungeon crystals, he accepted. A blinding light enveloped him. Bones reshaped. Fur toughened. Intelligence spiked. New Form: Mystic Ratling. The evolution was painful, but when it ended, he stood on two legs briefly. "This changes everything," he thought.

Chapter 18: Dungeon Resonance The dungeon reacted violently to his evolution. Monsters turned berserk. Traps reactivated. The system warned: "Emergency Detected: Dungeon Recalibration." He now had to escape a collapsing zone as the master's hidden chamber caved in. Using every learned skill, he sprinted and dodged, carrying relics he had scavenged.

Chapter 19: Relic Awakening Back in a safer area, the rat inspected the relics: a broken sword hilt, an old ring, and a pendant. When infused with energy, the ring wrapped around his tiny tail, enhancing his magic. The pendant summoned a temporary shield. The hilt, though broken, pulsed with dormant power.

Chapter 20: Exit of the Past, Entrance to Destiny As he left the hidden zone, he paused and looked back. The master's legacy, now part of him, throbbed with power. "Thank you, sensei," he squeaked. The system pinged again: "Next Quest: Unravel the True Purpose of the Dungeon."

chapter 21-30 will be released.
