Chapter 1 - The Demon King Awakens

The Hero Academy.

In the yard students were practising vigorously. Some of them were practising spells, while others were engaged in close combat, their sweaty bodies glistening in the sunlight. But regardless of who it was, each student had a gleam in their eye and a look of conviction on their faces.

They were the chosen few.

Selected from many hopefuls throughout the Dawn Empire to attend the Hero Academy. And they only had one goal.

"Damn you demons, I will destroy you. Come on!"

"Yes, we will never let demons take over our world!"

"Ah, I feel it, something is rising within me. This is the power of righteousness! I will cleanse the world of all demons!"

One after another, the students began making grand proclamations. At the side, the teachers all watched this sight with a warm smile on their faces.

Everyone at the Hero Academy was fighting for one thing. To destroy all demons and bring peace back to the Aurora Continent.

Compared to the students who were excitedly shouting outside, a lone quivering figure looked out the window into the yard below. But his eyes were not on practicing students, instead he was staring at the strange panel in front of him.

[Demon King System Activated]

"Dammit!" Damien cursed under his breath.

He had just been transmigrated to this strange world a few minutes ago. But before he had time to even sort out his memories he was already given the worst case scenario.

This world did not take kindly to demons.

For countless years the demons have been invading the Aurora continent. The worst was a hundred years ago, when the demon king and his generals nearly took over the world. It was only when the powerful human mages banded together with the other races that they finally killed the Demon King and expelled the demons back to their realm.

But soon they realised it wasn't over, even though the demon king was dead, his many generals and their descendants were still alive. They were constantly vying to get back into the world.

Thus every race began building special academies to train warriors to fight the invading demons. This was the origin of the Hero Academy.

And now here he was, the new demon king attending that same academy a hundred years later.

Damien walked along the hallways of the academy listening to the excited voices of his classmates talking about how many demons they were going to kill, and how they would never hesitate if they faced a demon and so on.

His mood was getting worse.

Can't these idiots talk about something else?!

Because of the constant threat of demons invading, the status of the Hero Academy was at its peak. Thus every single student had a lot of pride that they were part of the front lines in saving the world.

Furthermore, the Dawn Empire has invested a lot of funds and resources to support the school just to cultivate great magicians. So even if these students do not become grand magicians, they can still join the army or become the guests of nobles. Overall they all had great prospects.

How could they not be excited and constantly talk about killing demons?

But for Damien the more this was the case the more dangerous it was.

Suddenly he felt a hand on his shoulder and a voice began speaking excitedly:

"Damien, did you hear? Did you hear?! We're having a match with the Elven Academy next week! They say the winners are going to form a joint expedition into the Abyss realm to kill demons!"

Damien turned around to look at the familiar face.

Wayne.

This should be one of his closest friends at the academy. A young man with blonde hair, who gets carried away easily.

"Wayne, why are you so excited? Aren't you afraid of the demons?"

"Afraid? How can I be afraid? I'm going to use my power of righteousness to destroy the demons. Then with an elven beauty on one side and a royal princess on the other I'll be the savior of the world!"

Damien shook his head. What would this fool think if he knew that the demon king was right next to him?

Damien didn't want to imagine that scene. He gave an excuse that he was feeling sick and quickly fled to his dorm.

Sitting on the bed there was finally some peace and quiet.

Damien looked at the system again.

[The Demon King's authority has been activated! ]

[You have obtained the summons - Succubus Queen]

[Succubus Queen: The leader of the demon clan known as succubi, famed for their seductress prowess. They are one of the most staunch and loyal defendants of the demon king.]

[System Task: Summon the Succubus Queen]

[Summon the succubus queen and help her form your first group of subordinates in this world.]

Damien was incredulous.

This system was crazy, it was seriously telling a student at the Hero Academy to summon a succubus? And where would he get subordinates from?

It seems that the system heard his complaints, because at this time it sounded out again.

[The system has noted the host's difficulty. Searching for a suitable place…]

Suddenly, in front of Damien's eyes a bright red arrow appeared. He looked around the room and slowly moved his hands through the arrow but his fingers only touched air.

Damein stood up and left his dorm following the direction of the arrow. No one around him seemed to notice anything suspicious, and they just passed by him. Occasionally some people would point at him, but listening to their words, it was calling him "Genius", "Level 10 Mage in his first year!" and so on.

Damien paid it no mind, but his thoughts were a little confused.

"Could it really be so easy? I just follow the arrow?"
