The only thing Alisha heard yesterday was that Kaidon left with a lady, but later on, he came back and the festival carried on like nothing happened, so she didn't ask him about it. But hearing his words just now, her heart ached. She stared at him in disbelief, unable to believe her ears.
"This is surely a joke," she spoke calmly, trying hard not to believe it, but Kaidon's face showed no hint of warmth.
"Do I look like I am joking? You know I don't joke about such matters," he spoke, and she held her breath for a while, trying to take everything in. She clearly remembered that Kaidon had never joked about the topic of his mate, not even once.
Whenever his mate was brought up, she'll always see pain in his eyes, even when he agreed to marry her.
She let out a deep sigh. "I-i..." she stammered. Words failed her.
