Chapter 6 - New Life DxD- Chapter 5

My eyes widen, and I leap to the side to dodge the demon's attack, its claws striking the ground, piercing it like paper. The moment it hits the ground, flames erupt from its hands at the impact site.

Hey! If I had been hit by that, I would've died! I only escaped thanks to my reflexes.

Quickly, I open the [Gate of Babylon] behind me, which appears through three golden ripples. From the left ripple emerges a medieval sword with a long blade, from the middle ripple comes a black magical staff with golden outlines, and from the last ripple appears a spear with a silver blade and golden shaft.

This wasn't my first time using the [Gate of Babylon]; after all, I trained a bit with it while still in the room.

Using the [Gate of Babylon] is interesting, to say the least. When I first activated it, I felt how to activate and control it as if I'd done it my whole life.

Maybe it's because of the original Gilgamesh's memories, or because the System imprinted it in my mind, I'm not sure, but I also didn't compare myself to the original Gilgamesh in its use.

First, I had the limitation of only being able to open a maximum of seven gates, not only due to my magical power but also my concentration. For the original Gilgamesh, opening and controlling the [Gate of Babylon] was as simple as breathing.

Concentration is also important; without it, I could end up summoning something random. If I want a specific weapon, I need to know about it.

Other than that, controlling the [Gate of Babylon] is quite simple.

I focus and prepare the magical staff that came out of one portal.

One thing I noticed about magical staffs is that they already have spells within them; I just have to activate them and keep the [Gate of Babylon] open to use them.

Sending a bit of magical power to the staff, it glows with golden energy before releasing it against the demon.

The demon didn't even notice the energy coming at it, as it was still stuck with its claws in the stone. With no time to react, the magical power hits the demon directly, causing an explosion.

[-700 HP]

I see the notification that my attack reduced the demon's health by 700 points.

After the dust from the explosion clears, I see the demon still dazed, and I quickly launch the sword in its direction.

The sword travels at great speed, piercing the demon's stomach, which screams in pain, not only from the damage but also because this sword I fired was a holy sword.

[-800 HP]

Before the demon can react, I launch the spear in its direction, piercing its head.

After receiving so many attacks, the demon dissipates into blue dust, causing my weapons to fall to the ground before returning to the [Gate of Babylon], dissipating into golden dust.

[You killed a Middle-Class Demon.]

[You received 500 Exp.]

I sigh a bit.

For my first battle, I think I did well.

My eyes widen as I sense danger, and I leap to the right just in time to dodge a large spear that hits the ground.

Looking at the new attackers, I notice their appearances.

The one that attacked me was of medium height, and what stood out the most was its head, which was made of a goat skull, wielding a large black spear that seemed to be made of stone.

The one further back had an appearance identical to the one I defeated, only slightly shorter and wielding a magical staff with flames dancing around it.

Quickly, the demon with the spear charges at me.

I start dodging skillfully, thanks to my great perception and senses.

During one of these dodges, I see the demon with the staff throw a fireball at me. I jump to the side to dodge it, but the demon with the spear is already in front of me, thrusting its spear.

But before the spear reaches me, I open the [Gate of Babylon], pulling out a sword that blocks the demon's attack. Without wasting time, I open another portal below the demon's head, from which a sword emerges, piercing its head.

[You killed a Middle-Class Demon.]

[You gained 500 Exp.]

The demon with the staff prepares to cast another spell, but acting faster, I open three more portals, from which three holy swords appear, shooting toward the demon, which screams in pain as it's hit in the legs and arms.

Without letting the demon recover, I launch the sword I used to block the spear demon's attack, piercing its head.

[You killed a Middle-Class Demon.]

[You gained 500 Exp.]

I sigh a bit as I see my MP replenish.

[Do you wish to Loot?]

[Yes] [No]

Hmm, I didn't know about this.

Yes.

[Looting...]

[Congratulations, the host acquired two items and one skill.]

[You acquired "Demonic Spear."]

[You acquired "Fire Demon's Magic Staff."]

[You acquired the skill "Spear Mastery."]

[The items have been moved to the Gate of Babylon.]

I see, so I gained a skill and the demons' weapons.

Can you give me a description, System?

[Yes, host.]

[Name: Demonic Spear

- Rarity: Rare

- Description: An ancient spear forged in the underworld using a rare metal with an incredible degree of cutting and penetration, used by a demon who lost it in battle.

- Deals 19% more damage per strike with this spear (When Equipped).]

[Name: Magic Staff

- Rarity: Rare

- Description: An ancient magical staff that belonged to a demon who explored the mysteries of fire magic, causing this magical power to be trapped in the staff.

- 14% more damage in magical attacks (When Equipped).]

[Name: Spear Mastery

- Type: Passive

- Rarity: Normal

- Level: 01/20

- Description: Increases mastery and accuracy with spears. Only applies if the user is wielding a spear.

- 15% more mastery with a spear, 1% accuracy.]

Very interesting.

Deciding to test this skill, I summon a spear from the [Gate of Babylon] with a golden shaft with white designs and a silver, slightly curved tip.

The moment I touch the spear, I feel an intuition of how to use it, though not mastering it; I already know the basics of how to wield it.

I prepare with the spear as I decide to advance in the dungeon.

Maybe I should try to unlock my [Sacred Gear]?

.

.

.

.

Well, I'm in a bad situation now.

To sum it up, I had started advancing carelessly through the dungeon, killing every demon I saw, but now I ended up cornered.

How cornered?

Well, in front of me, on my sides, and behind me are full of demons, and I don't think I could handle them just with the [Gate of Babylon], unless I use a major Noble Phantasm.

Well, it's time to try unlocking my [Sacred Gear].

I could have tried this earlier, but from what I remember, Sacred Gears respond to their users' feelings.

I close my eyes and focus on the small power of my [Sacred Gear] that I feel flowing through my body.

I found myself in a vast dark void for a few moments until a small light appeared.

I couldn't help but widen my eyes at what could only be described as the fury of Mother Nature.

There were gigantic waves of water devouring continents, tornadoes destroying everything in their path, storms of ice and snow freezing deserts, scorching flames as hot as the sun itself, storm clouds unleashing their lightning rain upon the earth, earthquakes splitting continents in half.

When I opened my eyes, I felt the power coursing through my body.

Waves of ice advanced against the demons, freezing everything in their path. The air's humidity condensed to the point of creating a massive wave of water that swept everything away. The ground trembled and rose toward the demons. Clouds began to gather on the castle's ceiling, making lightning strike the field as flames danced around me, burning anything that tried to harm me.

I could see the fear in the demons' eyes.

A big smile crossed my face.

This is going to be a massacre.

.

.

.

.

It's been a while since I unlocked my [Sacred Gear], and now I'm sitting, leaning against a wall, looking at the door that would lead to the boss.

Looking back, I only see destruction.

Spears of ice and earth stuck in the walls, large puddles and water swords on the ground, while flames continued to burn.

I think I overdid it.

[Quest Completed]

Good, I managed to finish it.

[Demon Hunter]

- Description: Kill 100 demons.

- Quantity: 100/100.

- Reward: 100,000 Gold, 1,000 Exp, "Eye of God" skill.

[You gained 100,000 Gold.]

[You gained 1,000 Exp points.]

[You gained the "Eye of God" skill.]

Hmm, very good.

Can you give me a description, System?

[Yes, host.]

[Name: Eye of God]

- Level: 01/10

- Type: Active

- Rarity: Rare

- MP Cost: 0

- Description: This skill allows the user to see the level and even the attributes of their adversaries. If mastered, the host can see their history and skills.

Hoho, this is definitely a very useful skill.

[Secret Quest Completed]

I didn't know there were secret quests.

[My Sacred Gear]

- Description: Unlock your Sacred Gear.

- Reward: 100,000 Gold, 500 Exp, "Special Summoning Card" item.

[You gained 100,000 Gold.]

[You gained 500 Exp points.]

[You gained the "Special Summoning Card" item.]

[The item has been moved to the inventory.]

This is very good.

I'll check this later; first,

Status.

[Name: Gilgamesh]

[Lineage: Demigod]

[Title: King of Heroes]

[Sacred Gear: Zenith Tempest]

[Level: 09]

[HP: 9,000/9,000] (1,000 HP every 20 seconds)

[MP: 9,000/9,000] (1,000 MP every 10 seconds)

[STR: 900]

[VIT: 900]

[INT: 900]

[DEX: 900]

[LUCKY: 900]

[Gold: 200,000]

So I'm at level nine, and most importantly, my Sacred Gear is the [Zenith Tempest], the second strongest Longinus.

Can you give me a description, System?

[Yes, host.]

[Name: Zenith Tempest]

- Type: Active

- Rarity: Ultra Rare

- MP Cost: 0

- Description: Zenith Tempest, also known as the Prison of the Shining Heavenly Thunder, is a high-tier Longinus. It is ranked as the second strongest Longinus after the True Longinus. One of the thirteen Longinus created by the God of the Bible, Zenith Tempest is considered one of the biggest "bugs" in the Sacred Gear system, possessing world-class powers that could destroy the world when used in the wrong hands.

- Powers: Zenith Tempest has the ability to control the weather and elemental attributes that exist in nature (fire, wind, lightning, water, earth, and ice); therefore, it is possible to create artificial clouds in places where there is no sky.

[Balance Breaker Locked - Secret Conditions must be met.]

So my Longinus is the [Zenith Tempest].

If I'm not mistaken, in the novel, it was used by Dulio Gesualdo, the Strongest Exorcist.

But now it's mine.

And honestly, it's very useful.

For example, if I had the [Boosted Gear], I wouldn't have been able to get out of that situation so well, as my body wouldn't be able to handle the Longinus's power.

But with the [Zenith Tempest], I didn't have that problem because when I used its power, I felt that with every call, it responded by unleashing its power in the form of elements, and that's very useful.

In terms of individual power, other Longinus might be stronger, but in terms of power and reach, this Longinus is far superior.

After all, it has the power to destroy the world.

Now, putting that aside, I need to prepare.

After all, on the other side of that door is the boss, and he's probably stronger and has more skills than the ones I faced.

First, I need to check some points about my power.

System, do you have any weapon-handling skills?

[Yes, host.]

[Searching...]

[Found.]

[Skills:

- Weapon Proficiency = 50,000 Gold]

Hmm, it's expensive, but it will be very useful.

Buy it, System.

[Buying...]

[-50,000 Gold]

[Purchased.]

[Do you wish to learn the "Weapon Proficiency" skill?]

Yes.

[Learning...]

I felt like my head was splitting apart, and in each part, the basic use of every existing weapon was being imprinted.

[Learned.]

[Due to the host having the "Weapon Proficiency" skill, the "Spear Mastery" skill has been converted to Exp.]

["Weapon Proficiency" leveled up.]

[Name: Weapon Proficiency]

- Level: 02/20

- Type: Passive

- Rarity: Super Rare

- Description: The user only needs to pick up a weapon to become proficient with it. The first time they pick up a sword, they can fight like a master; the first time they use a bow, they can hit any target. Even alien, magical, or other weapons they shouldn't understand work naturally for them.

Yes, this is definitely very useful and will form a great combination with the [Gate of Babylon].

Now, since I'm going to fight a demon,

System, show me the Slayer magics from Fairy Tail.

[Yes, host.]

[Skills:

- God Slayer Magic = 100,000 Gold

- Dragon Slayer Magic = 100,000 Gold

- Devil Slayer Magic = 100,000 Gold]

Hmm, it's expensive, but it will be very useful.

System, buy me the [Lightning Devil Slayer Magic].

[Buying...]

[-100,000 Gold]

[Purchased.]

[Do you wish to integrate the "Lightning Devil Slayer Magic"?]

Yes.

[Integrating...]

Then I felt as if my head was splitting into millions of pieces, and in each one, the use of this magic was being engraved.

The same happened with my body, which felt like it was in the middle of a massive lightning storm striking it, but instead of harming, it was strengthening me.

[Successfully integrated.]

[Name: Lightning Devil Slayer Magic]

- Level: 01/100

- Type: Passive

- Rarity: Super Rare

- Description: This form of magic allows its users to use a specific element to kill demons. It also allows the user to consume their respective element to replenish strength and become immune to its effects, like other types of Slayers. It has also been suggested that Devil Slayer Magic is a very fickle magic, and learning it quickly and using its properties in rapid succession can have adverse effects on the user, causing them to "demonize": becoming afflicted with black marks that spread across the body, covering nearly half of the user and altering the color of the eyes on the affected side of the body at its peak, though those who master this magic can summon these markings at will, allowing them to become immune (to a limited degree) to the effects of curses. It was specifically mentioned that the souls of those who hunt demons begin to become "tainted," leading users of this magic to progressively lose their sanity, which prompts them to make irrational decisions. This magic also allows its users to obtain information about a demon just by observing it for a second. Additionally, as exorcists, Demon Slayers have the ability to kill or exorcize demonic power, exerting their Magical Power over the target, using the "demon" side of their Magic, as this is the true purpose of the Magic.

Lightning Devil Slayer Magic allows its users to use a specific element to kill demons; in this specific type, the Mage can create, generate, and manipulate the lightning element for various purposes, mainly for combat. The lightning element incorporated in this Magic differs from standard lightning or electricity. The potency of the lightning allows for a variety of different advantages, such as vaporization of objects, paralysis, burning, etc. The electrocuting power of demonic lightning is considered the highest of the three standards of Slayer Magic: Dragon, God, and Devil Slayers. The user can create and manipulate their element as they wish and can even enhance their performance with the help of naturally occurring lightning. They can even, with a simple movement, cover the entire sky in endless storm clouds.

[Devil Force Locked - Requires Level 50]

What an incredible magic.

When I raise my left hand, a tribal tattoo in the shape of lightning and thunder appears, and my fist begins to glow with purple electricity.

The lightning of my [Devil Slayer Magic].

But there's something that worries me.

System, can I turn into a demon because of this magic?

That's honestly something I don't want.

[The host need not worry, as due to me, you will not face that risk, though when you reach [Devil Force], you will be able to temporarily transform into one and use its powers.]

I see, you're amazing, System!

I could feel a slight hint of happiness from the System when I said the compliment; I think it's our mental bond.

[Obviously.]

Okay, now that was pride.

Well, putting that aside, I think it's time to enter the boss's chamber, or room.

I walk slowly toward the large door that opens.

[You have entered the Boss's Room.]

[Good luck, host.]

Thank you, System.

I look around until everything lights up, and I see a kind of castle throne room, except made of stone and lava, with a large throne in the center where the boss was seated.

The being seated there on the throne was a large entity, over two meters tall, seeming to be made of living flames, and the heat it emanated was intense. It also wielded a large medieval-looking sword that appeared to be made of condensed and cooled lava.

It looked like Surtur from the Thor movie.

Around it were four beings, two on each side. They were large, even bigger than the central demon, looking like large, fat red ogres with purple mouths, long tongues, and horns.

Honestly, they were identical to the red demons from *Seven Deadly Sins*.

I think, although the description of DxD demons was given, the dungeon places any being that can be considered of demonic origin here, though it seems their powers are adapted.

Quickly, I use the [Eye of God] skill.

[Name: Surtur]

[Lineage: Demon]

[Title: Demon of Flames]

[Level: 24]

[HP: 24,000/24,000]

[MP: 15,000/15,000]

[STR: 1,200]

[VIT: 2,400]

[INT: 500]

[DEX: 800]

[LUCKY: 100]

[Status toward the host: Hatred for invading its domain]

Yes, even the name is the same.

And its stats are very high, as expected of a high-class demon.

At least, I think so.

The other demons by its side are at the middle-class level.

[New Quest]

Hmm, a new mission.

[Demon Hunter 2.0]

- Description: Kill the Demon Surtur.

- Reward: 100,000 Gold, 500 Exp, Hellblazer skill.

Hoho, this is very good.

Especially the skill.

But System, you have little creativity for naming quests.

[That's the Goddesses' fault, host.]

I can't help but sweat at that.

**In a Distant Existential Plane.**

In an existential plane far from Gilgamesh and the other worlds, you can see the three goddesses sitting on a large couch with various snacks by their sides while watching TV, which happens to be showing Gilgamesh's story.

The goddesses were having a lot of fun watching, as it's hard to find something different to see when you're millennia old; things get boring.

The goddesses laughed as they watched Gilgamesh's adventures until they saw the System blaming them for the lack of creativity.

"Hey, it's not our fault; it's that lazy author's fault," shouts one of them, receiving nods from the others.

In an Even More Distant Existential Plane.

In an even more distant existential plane, far from all gods and fictional worlds, you can see the author in his own universe, where he reigns alone, the sovereign of his own cosmos.

The author was preparing a new chapter for his story, which he had written before but was deleted, when he sees the Goddesses blaming him for the lack of creativity, which isn't wrong.

"Sorry for the lack of creativity," says the author to himself until he hears a shout calling him:

"Come wash the dishes already!" the shout says.

"Yes, Mom," says the author, running in fear.

Well, it seems he doesn't reign so alone.

As they say, there will always be someone above you.

**Back with Gilgamesh.**

I feel like I've been the victim of a multiversal trip.

Never mind.

I turn my gaze back to the demons and see them starting to prepare.

I felt the room's temperature rising to the point where sweat evaporated. To prevent this, I started constantly releasing an ice aura from my body to keep myself comfortable.

Then one of the red demons charges at me, raising its claws with the intent to pierce me.

As it lowers its hand, I jump to the side, making it pierce the ground. The moment I touch the ground, I place my right hand on it and, manipulating the earth with [Zenith Tempest], create large spikes that pierce the demon's body. To ensure it, I open the [Gate of Babylon] and launch three holy swords directly at the demon's head, killing it.

[You killed a Middle-Class Demon.]

[You gained 500 Exp.]

Turning my attention to the other demons, I see they still haven't moved until the red demons start walking.

The three begin coming toward me.

The one furthest back opens its mouth and releases a sea of flames in my direction. Unsure if I could dodge, I move my hand forward and manipulate the air to create a concentrated sphere of wind, launching it toward the fire. Normally, this would increase the fire's power, but when the fire meets the wind, it splits. I used the wind to redirect the fire to the walls.

Taking advantage of this, I activate the mark of my [Devil Slayer Magic] and raise my hand toward the other two demons charging at me.

"Great Storm of the Lightning Demon."

Moving my hand, I create a vortex of lightning and thunder and launch it at the two remaining demons, who are obliterated by the lightning's force.

[You killed a Middle-Class Demon.]

[You killed a Middle-Class Demon.]

[You gained 500 Exp.]

[You gained 500 Exp.]

Sighing, I widen my eyes as I see Surtur disappear and reappear behind me.

Jumping away, I see Surtur swing his sword and unleash a large sea of flames in my direction.

The fire's power is great; even with my ice aura, I still feel the heat. Quickly, I create a large amount of ice, which was difficult and draining due to the location's high temperature, and shape it into a barrier to protect myself.

Raising my hand, I gather a large amount of humidity in the air and condense it into a massive wave of water that crashes over Surtur, sweeping him and his flames away.

Turning, I see the red demon and Surtur, who just recovered. I take a deep breath and inflate my mouth and lungs.

"Wrath of the Lightning Demon."

From my mouth comes a condensed vortex of pure lightning and thunder that advances, destroying everything in its path like a great storm.

My lightning was aimed at Surtur, but the red demon stepped in front, taking the full brunt of the attack, which tore it apart. Even Surtur didn't come out unscathed, but only with some scratches.

Looking at Surtur, I decide to end this quickly and open the [Gate of Babylon], pulling out a sword.

Its form was unique but could be classified as a broadsword. The edge was blue like a gem, followed by gold adorning the tip. The guard was semicircular on the left side of the handle, extending to the bottom just above the pommel, with a small extension on the right side of the handle.

It was a sword said to be unmatched, a sword that claimed 100,000 living men, a sword believed to be capable of cutting anything, a sword believed capable of creating miracles, a sword that could be called a divine creation.

A sword used by Roland... The famous Paladin and leader of the Twelve Peers. A sword granted to him by an angel and splendidly forged, like Caliburn. It proved to be nearly indestructible, as Roland's wish to destroy it on the brink of his death to prevent it from falling into enemy hands ended in failure.

The moment I touched it, I felt everything. Thanks to my [Weapon Proficiency] skill, I felt how to use this sword and push it to its limit, almost to perfection. I saw everything about it: who created it, how it was created, who wielded it, and how it was wielded.

And then the sword's name was called, and the world gained colors.

"The Unmatched Sword: Durandal."

The moment its name was called, a massive wave of holy energy exploded within the boss's room, destroying everything profane, for nothing like that could stand before one of the greatest weapons created by God.

Surtur, feeling the immense amount of holy energy that burned his skin even without touching it, charged, brandishing his sword with the intent to kill the threat before him.

I also charged, and in a single swing, the swords clashed.

And Surtur fell.

Durandal cut through the demon like a hot knife through butter, for no demon could withstand the power of one of the strongest weapons created by God.

[You killed a High-Class Demon.]

[You gained 1,000 Exp.]

Sighing, I look at Surtur's body.

[Do you wish to Loot?]

[Yes] [No]

Yes.

[Looting...]

[Looted.]

[You gained two items.]

[You acquired "Surtur's Amulet."]

[You acquired "Surtur's Sword."]

[The items have been moved to the Gate of Babylon.]

Good, System, give me a description.

[Yes, host.]

[Name: Surtur's Amulet]

- Rarity: Rare

- Description: An amulet forged by the demon Surtur when he traveled to Hell. The amulet helped Surtur explore the depths of Hell.

- Resistance to Fire Attacks and high temperatures (When Equipped).

[Name: Surtur's Sword]

- Rarity: Rare

Very good.

[Quest Completed]

Alright.

[Demon Hunter 2.0]

- Description: Kill the Demon Surtur.

- Reward: 100,000 Gold, 500 Exp, Hellblazer skill.

[You gained 100,000 Gold.]

[You gained 500 Exp.]

[You gained the "Hellblazer" skill.]

Very well.

Sighing, I see the terrain around me distort until it returns to what it was before.

I think it's time to leave.

I head toward the door and open it.

But I can't help but widen my eyes at who's standing there.

Sebas is standing in front of me, staring at me.

"Did you have a good training session, young master?" asks the butler.

My eyes widen even more.

"W-what training?"

Sebas continues staring at me.

"No need to worry, young master Gilgamesh... Or should I say reincarnated human Diogo," says Sebas with his eyes glowing red.

Only one thing crosses my mind.
