Chapter 7 - New Life DxD- Chapter 6

Oh shit.

That was all that was going through my head.

How the hell does Sebas know this?

For God's sake.

Wait, God is dead.

For the love of Zeus, Odin, Indra, or any God out there.

This is an instant game over.

Holy shit.

[Watch your language, host.]

Now's not the time for that, System.

"What's wrong, cat got your tongue?" Sebas asks in an amused tone.

Sebas starts walking toward me, and I start backing away.

The moment Sebas passed through the door, he closed it and created a magical circle on it.

[Warning: The host has just entered a barrier.]

What?!

Damn it, he plans to kill me and leave no trace.

Quickly, I use [Eye of God] on Sebas.

[Name: Sebastian]

[Lineage: ???]

[Title: ???]

[Level: ???]

[HP: ???]

[MP: ???]

[STR: ???]

[VIT: ???]

[INT: ???]

[DEX: ???]

[LUCKY: ???]

Wait, why can't I see his stats?!

That only happens when the enemy is far stronger than you.

Holy shit.

I'm not going out like this, not now that I've reincarnated.

I quickly summon the mark of my [Devil Slayer Magic] on my right arm.

And I glare at him as I start releasing my power.

"Hoho, that was a good look," says Sebas as he approaches and I back away.

"But I must teach you what fear is."

Then it came.

The entire environment around us went dark, the only exception being Sebas's eyes, which glowed red.

Then, behind Sebas, *it* appeared.

It was a titanic being, completely shrouded in shadows, larger than anything I'd ever seen. Its eyes also glowed red, and it opened its mouth, roaring, showing teeth that seemed capable of cutting through anything. It looked at me as if it could kill me with a sneeze.

And I didn't doubt it.

[Due to a repeated action, the host has gained a new skill: "Fear Resistance."]

Slowly, I felt all the fear that had gripped my heart vanish.

"Hoho, you didn't flinch. Perhaps it has to do with the System," says Sebas as he starts walking again.

He knows about the System?!

Well, if he knows about my reincarnation, that's not surprising.

Placing my hands on the ground, I used my Longinus [Zenith Tempest] to manipulate the earth around me, creating several spikes that shot toward Sebas.

Sebas, for his part, advanced fearlessly through them, and when they were about to touch him, he punched them.

Yes, he punched them, and the moment his fists met the rocks, they were obliterated until nothing remained.

My eyes widen as I raise my hands, gathering a large amount of moisture in the air and creating a water bubble that I freeze to form large ice spikes. Moving my arms, I create small tornadoes of wind and flames that charge toward Sebas.

Sebas, in turn, assumes a stance and punches the air, creating a massive wave of energy that destroys the ice and nullifies the flames and tornadoes.

I start opening the [Gate of Babylon] and unleash weapons on Sebas, who effortlessly dodges them, grabbing the first sword and using it to deflect the other weapons.

He looked like the Berserker from *Fate/Zero*.

My eyes widen as he appears in front of me, grabbing my neck and lifting me.

"You're good for someone so young, young master," says Sebas, still looking at me with his glowing red eyes.

Is he really going to call me that while beating me up?

"You're really strong, Sebas," I say, raising my arms toward Sebas's head.

"That's a futile attempt to escape," says the butler.

I smile, making my arms crackle with electricity, and Sebas widens his eyes, jumping away from me.

"Lightning Demon's Cannon."

From my hands surges a massive amount of concentrated lightning that shoots toward Sebas at extreme speed.

Sebas simply crosses his arms in front of him and takes the attack head-on.

The pressure of the attack is immense; I even see the barrier crack a little.

Then I fall to my knees on the ground.

[MP: 0/9,000]

I think I used too much MP.

"That was a good hit," says Sebas as he emerges from the smoke without a scratch.

I widen my eyes before collapsing unconscious.

**Some Time Later.**

I open my eyes and see that I'm in my room, and my head hurts a lot.

[Through rest, all "buffs" have been removed.]

[Through rest, the host's MP has recovered.]

Hmm, I didn't know that happened.

But wait.

"Was that a dream?" I ask myself.

"No, that wasn't a dream, young master," says a voice beside me.

I look to the side and see Sebas standing there, watching me.

I get up and prepare myself.

"Calm down," says the butler.

"Who are you?" I ask, activating my [Devil Slayer] mark.

Sighing, Sebas looks at me.

"I'm also someone who's here because of the Goddesses," says Sebas, leaving me stunned.

"H-how?"

"More precisely, I'm someone created by the Goddesses to take care of you," says the butler as he looks at me.

I sit on the bed as I deactivate my [Devil Slayer] mark.

"Created?"

"Exactly. I was created to help you. Think of me as your teacher," says Sebas, staring at me.

"Why did they do that?" I question.

Sebas simply shrugs.

"I don't know. Maybe to help you or for their own amusement."

Yeah, that's very likely. I bet they're laughing at me somewhere.

"I see," I say.

"The important thing is that I'm here to help and teach you, as well as protect you."

"Protect me?"

"Exactly. Even before your soul awoke in this body, it was already being modified. That includes turning you into a demigod and also your Longinus, so any supernatural being could sense your power. I took it upon myself to kill every one of them that came near," explains Sebas.

I see, so he's been protecting me from the start, and that also explains why he almost killed Glenda.

"I understand."

"So, young master, what do you wish to do?" he asks me.

I don't understand his question.

"About what?"

"About this world. What do you plan to do? What do you want to achieve?" he asks.

I pause for a moment and start to reflect.

I really hadn't yet grasped what I wanted to do in this world.

To me, it was still a grand fantasy that became reality.

Of course, there were events I wanted to prevent, like Trihexa and Hades, but beyond that, I didn't have any desires in this world.

"Why did you ask that, Sebas?"

"Because you must forget what you know. This is no longer the world where Issei Hyoudou, the Sekiryuutei, is the protagonist. It's not the world where he will overcome everything. This is a completely different world from the moment you reincarnated here.

"In the original timeline, there was no descendant, or anyone with the power, of the King of Heroes, let alone one with a Longinus Sacred Gear.

"This is a world where beings kill, destroy, and torture others simply because they can, where everyone wears masks to hide who they really are, a world where beings that could be called 'monsters' exist."

I stare at Sebas expressionlessly.

"Why are you telling me this?"

That was my doubt.

"Because I don't want you to suffer, young master. In this world, there are beings who would destroy everything you love just to get to you. You can't save everyone alone," says the butler with genuine concern.

I look at him without expression.

"Sebas, can you do me a favor?"

"Of course," says the butler, standing up.

"Can you prepare an empty room for me?" I ask Sebas, who bows slightly.

"Yes, sir," he says before leaving the room, leaving me thoughtful.

**Some Time Later.**

It's been a while since my conversation with Sebas, and I've been reflecting on what he said.

And it was true. The anime/novel showed more of the good side of the supernatural world, never showing the bad side.

Even Azazel, who was said to be the most perverse of the Fallen Angels, was a cool guy.

This world is very different. It's no longer the fiction I watched; it's the real world now, and if I die, I won't get another chance, I think.

Arriving at the room Sebas prepared, I see him there.

"What are we going to do, young master?" asks the butler curiously.

I enter my inventory.

[Inventory]

- Special Summoning Card.

Taking out the only item there, it appears in my hand in golden particles.

It was a brown card with gold details and an image of seven beings battling each other.

[Name: Special Summoning Card]

- Rarity: Super Rare

- Type: Item

- Description: This card allows the user to connect to the Throne of Heroes and summon Servants divided into seven classes: Saber, Archer, Rider, Berserker, Lancer, Caster, and Assassin.

Servants are essentially reincarnations of legendary souls, great heroes from the dawn of humanity, also called Heroic Spirits. They possess Noble Phantasms, which can be weapons or special abilities. To summon a Servant, a ritual is required, in which the Master needs a catalyst, which can be an item or something related to said "hero."

"If I can't save everyone alone, I'll need help," I say, looking at Sebas, who sees the card in my hand and widens his eyes in understanding.

"So, which one are you going to summon?" asks Sebas.

Hmm, that's a good question.

Personally, my favorite is Scathach, the Immortal Witch of the Land of Shadows.

And being a great teacher of heroes, she would be useful.

Another would be Okita Souji, whom I also like.

Maybe Arturia; I can imagine her face if I summon her.

Although these are good options, I'll summon them later. For now, I already have someone in mind.

A ripple from the [Gate of Babylon] appears beside me, and from it emerges a large golden chain.

"Is that...?" exclaims Sebas, surprised.

"Exactly, the [Chains of Heaven]," I say.

The chain that binds gods, [Enkidu: Chains of Heaven], is the most trusted Noble Phantasm of the original Gilgamesh and the greatest secret kept within the [Gate of Babylon], made to bind gods so they cannot escape, making it one of the few anti-divine weapons that holds the concept of "reigning over the gods."

"I see, that's a good idea," says Sebas, realizing what his young master was about to summon.

I step forward a bit and toss the card into the air.

[Do you wish to use "Enkidu: Chains of Heaven" as a catalyst?]

Yes.

In front of me, a massive wave of energy rises, kicking up a large cloud of smoke.

When the smoke clears, a being appears with a face that could be considered "perfect," like homunculi or puppets created artificially by mages. Their hair is smooth and very long, and like their eyes, it has a light green hue. However, the irises also have golden tones, making their gaze even brighter and more radiant. They have neutral facial features, meaning that while they are effeminate and childlike, they would be considered androgynous by human standards. They wear a simple white tunic all the time, which, being large and loose, hides the outlines of their body, making it even harder to define their physiological traits based on human biological sex as a reference.

"I am the Servant of the Lancer class. My true name is Enkidu. It's a pleasure to meet you, Master," says the being now revealed as Enkidu.

Enkidu, the Weapon of the Gods, the best friend of the King of Heroes Gilgamesh, and the only one the Great King considered an equal.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Enkidu," I say, looking at Enkidu, who looks at me in shock.

Then, in a green blur, he leaps at me, hugging me.

"Gil, is it really you? What happened, you're small," he says in great excitement until he looks into my eyes.

"You're not Gilgamesh," says Enkidu.

Oh shit, he figured it out so fast.

What kind of friendship did they have?

**Some Time Later.**

It's been a while since I summoned Enkidu, and now we're sitting and talking.

"So, this is a different world from mine?" asks Enkidu.

I nod.

"A world where the Age of Gods never ended?"

I nod again.

"And you're the descendant of the Gilgamesh of this world?"

I nod, as I couldn't say I died and reincarnated in this world with Gilgamesh's body and powers, and I also don't mind being seen as his descendant.

"I understand. If you don't want me to stay and prefer I return to the Throne of Heroes, Enkidu," I say, but Enkidu shakes his head.

"I chose to walk alongside humans, and you are human. Even if it's another world and you're not a descendant of the Gilgamesh I knew, it doesn't matter. You can use me as you wish," says Enkidu, bowing.

"I'm not going to use you, Enkidu. From today onward, we're friends," I say with a smile, which is returned by the Weapon of the Gods.

I wonder what kind of adventures we'll have in this new life.
