What weird world we live in

Being stuck in an empty void with no memories of his past only drifting endlessly a screen appeared before him asking to Start a new game. With nothing to do, he accepted giving him a new life and a gift of the system to help him grow. But why though? a new game? why start a new one? did something happen before?
