"But— the zombies. . ." He kept groaning. What zombies? damn it. . . Why does he keep repeating that phrase?
"What zombies?!?" I snapped, and did that kind of loudly.. but I didn't really see any zombies in the area, I think I'm fine, right?
"Behind you!" He yelled, and I turned back to see literally an army of zombies coming towards this way. Oh god. .
"Quick, let's get back!" He didn't hesitate to run with me back into the building, and so, we went back up to the room where we saw Ruby waiting there with a displeased expression.
Oh god, this will take some ton of explaining. Once we settled down a little and caught our breath, Christian and Ruby were looking at me like they were my parents and I had sneaked out. Sneaking out is accurate but, hey, I was bored.
"I found a mini van...? Hehe..?"
I managed to spit out. But... Boy— were they not happy. Honestly, Christian seemed to be caring alot more than I thought he'd be.
He looked at me like I had committed murder or some kind of other bad crime. Although ruby, on the other hand. . she was giving me the death glare. Not speaking, arms crossed and dead still.
Not ever have I seen Ruby like this, and I'd just have to hope it's the first and last time I'd see her like this. But, I eventually heard her sigh and softened her eyes.
"I'm just disappointed you didn't care to tell us or bring us along. You could've been in grave danger if Christian hadn't gone! Please, Perry, don't be so wreckless." Ruby scolded me. I leaned on a nearby wall listening to her, slightly guilty. I nodded, and glanced at Christian who was standing next to ruby, with his arms crossed and a frown.
"What? If you have something to say just spit it out already. Not like I care what you say." I raised my voice at him slightly. He gave me an uncertain and unapproving look, before scoffing.
"Hey, do not talk to me that way. I saved you, the least you could do is thank me." He replied, which I could technically feel his hidden anger beneath the words he spoke. I looked away, rolling my eyes.
I was extremely aware he was correct and I should probably thank him. But, I had far too much pride then to just thank that guy
"Whatever. ." I mumbled under my breath, I could hear him sigh and turn away. Honestly, I was surprised he didn't go on and start an argument like he usually would've. Character development maybe..?
Pfft, whatever. That's none of my business either way.
I turned around with a sigh, and headed into my room. My room as in the one I slept in, I guess. I let myself fall on the bed, staring at the ceiling. I feel slightly guilty that I made ruby worry like that, and sneaked out. But Christian can dismiss it for all I care.
Well, anyway, I closed my eyes, letting myself relax a bit after that little adventure. A few minutes passed as I just laid there on my bed. I decided to get up again and see what the others were doing. . . Since I basically just left their presence. I went to open the door, but just as I did, the door swung open, as Christian bumped into me. I stepped back, rubbing my nose. I could practically feel him glaring at me.
"Gosh, what do you eat to make your chest that hard?" I said slightly coldly, stepping back in the room, to give Christian some space to enter the room.
"Normal food, obviously." He replied,
Then closed the door behind him, and sat on his bed. I rolled my eyes at his reply. I returned back to my bed. I sat on the edge, glancing at him unconsciously.
He laid himself on the bed, stretching his arms. I looked away, as I noticed I was staring.
The silence was deafening, the tension was pretty thick too, considering we were both in the same room. . . Coincidentally.
"You know.. At least tell us if you're going out alone. . can't risk losing the idiots either." He said, his tone almost worried. I looked away, exhaling sharply.
"...why do you care?" I bit back, averting my gaze to him once again. We made eye contact, but he looked away almost immediately. He then spoke in a slightly quieter voice.
"I don't.. but we can't risk it. Alright?" He replied, almost coldly. I could feel myself unconsciously smirking slightly.
"You sure sound like you care. . a bit too much." I commented, crossing my legs, sitting on the bed. He looked at me, annoyed.
"I couldn't. Care. Less." He snarled back, in a low manner. He had an annoyed expression, not pleased at all. Well, not that I want him to care.. not that I care if he does or not. .
"You're just in denial, face it." I said, slightly amused now, a smirk on my face. He narrowed his eyes slightly before sighing sharply.
"I know how to accept my feelings. But not ones that aren't there." He replied, clenching his fists. I just rolled my eyes, and crossed my arms.
"Sure, sure. ." I replied, teasingly. He scoffed in an irritated manner, and broke eye contact, looking away. It fell silent again, until he spoke.
"Well.. if you want to get bitten, that's fine with me. But losing another person is a disadvantage for us." He growled at me, grunting as he sat up straight on his bed.
I raised an eyebrow, my smirk still visible on my face. He really cares just for himself doesn't he?
"Yeah, you wouldn't care if we died or not if it was for your benefit, huh? You only think about yourself and it's obvious.." I said, rolling my eyes, my smirk dying down replaced with a slightly more irritated expression.
He looked at me, looking mad, and extremely irritated now. "I said for us didn't I? Not me." He claimed, which was true. . but I wasn't just going to admit it straight up. I have far too much pride.
"Yeah, but what you meant was 'for me' wasn't it?" I said, looking away. He looked at me, like he was about to snap. He stood up, and started walking towards, silently.
But before he could reach my bed, the door to our room opened, Ruby stood at the door, staring for a moment. "What.. are you guys doing?" We froze.. Christian turned around, and he sighed. He went back and sat on his bed.
"Did I interrupt something. . .? I'll leave, geez. . at least lock the door." She teased, and I could feel the redness on my cheeks. Christian stayed silent, clearing his throat, he looked flustered aswell.
"We weren't doing anything. . gosh. You with your assumptions, huh, Ruby?" I said scoffing, and getting up to exit the room. But, I was stopped by Christian grabbing my wrist almost forcefully.
