Damian spoke. "Oh, that must be-" I cut him off, whispering to myself. "Nathan.."
But how....?
I stared as he stepped in the house.. and as he came towards the living room, we made eye contact. His usual cold and distant eyes. I managed to tear my gaze away, to the others, Nicole, Ruby and Christian. They seemed to be remembering now, too. Its them, from the supermarket. Never thought we'd meet them here, and definitely not like this. I sighed, relaxing myself on the armchair near the window. ..I'm so tired.
Nathan walked into the living room, and sat down on the couch. I didn't bat an eye at him. He was worse than Christian, if I'm being honest. And me? I do NOT have the energy to deal with that guy's big mouth. I doubt he's changed, at all.
Ruby spoke up.
"I thought you were dead..?" She asked me in a slightly confused manner. Nathan looked at Ruby, and I could see Ruby turn away, due to his cold expression.
"I'm not." He said bluntly and coldly. I scoffed and leaned back. His death is the last thing I could care about right now. Christian spoke up next, in a cold and slightly harsh manner.
"Besides that, you guys are seriously kidnapping humans to experiment on? Do you know how messed up that is?" Christian argued. They looked at him, and scoffed.
"It's just a few lives, to save the rest of humanity." Emily said, rolling her eyes. That's messed up as hell. I stepped in, supporting Christians point. There's no way that they thought it was actually ok?
"The few lives could've been you. That's okay, right?" I said, with an irritated smile. They seemed genuinely surprised at my words, and even Nathan was caught off guard. Emily's eyebrows furrowed, and she scoffed.
"You can't fight me. I know martial arts." She said, boasting. I rolled my eyes. As if.
"Yeah? What coloured belt, hm?" I said with a slight bit of a smug smile. She looked at me, a little confused.
"What's.. that?" She replied. I was actually surprised. She didn't know coloured belts in martial arts? She doesn't know a thing about martial arts and boasts about it. How stupid.
"How funny, yet how stupid. You boast about knowing martial arts but you don't even know what coloured belts are." I said, making fun of her. She gritted her teeth, her fists clenching as she looked away, clearly irritated to max. She didn't say anything, and I crossed my arms looking away from her. Coward, I scoffed. She didn't even argue back.
It was silent, until Nicole whispered in my ear. "We should probably get out.. we don't know how dangerous they are.." I nodded slightly, he was right. We didn't know if they were capable of hurting us or not. I stood up.. looking at the rest, including Maverick, Rexine and ivy. They sighed.
"I think it's best we leave." I said, walking out of the living room. I waited for the others, and I guess blueberry heads also wanted to get out of there.. I mean who wouldn't? It's still insane they're doing this. I opened the door, which Nathan recently didn't lock.. thankfully. As the others followed behind me, I stepped out and started walking towards the van. Nicole walked beside me.
"Crazy bunch, am I right?" Nicole said to me, as I unlocked the van and stepped inside the driver seat.
"Yeah, insane." I replied. Nicole got in the passenger seat, Christian, Ruby and Rexine middle row. At the back sat Ivy and Maverick. Once everyone got in, I started driving. My eyes were focused on the road, but my mind definitely wasn't. Honestly, so much is off my shoulders since we found Nicole. I missed him alot, even if I don't show it. I'm just glad we got him back.
As for Nathan? I can't wrap my head around how he's alive.. neither can Ruby, Christian and Nicole, too, probably. Well the world has its mysteries, especially the people that live inside it. I better not think too much about it. I stopped and snapped out of my thoughts for a second, and hit the brakes.
I turned my upper body back, and asked, "where are we actually going? Where do we have that we can go.. which is safe?" No one replied. Ruby opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out.
"Wait, seriously? You guys have nowhere to go?" Rexine asked with slight worry, but curiously. Ruby turned to her, and spoke.. a little awkwardly.
"I never thought of it, really. In those movies.. you just end up somewhere." She stated, with a sigh. I turned back, and just started driving again. I didn't know where, but wherever.
"Where are you going? Didn't you just ask where we were going?" Christian questioned, as I drove against the speed limit.
"Heyy, hello??? Stop ignoring me, shitty face!" He raised his voice a little. I just rolled my eyes. Ruby had to hold him back from saying anything else.. it was pretty obvious from the muffled noises.
I drove around, basically like a roadtrip, around the place. Most of the buildings we saw had blood all over the lower levels and ground floor. As well as there being completely dead people on the floor at places, and occasionally a zombie being run over. There weren't alot of zombies in this area, maybe it's a good place to rest..? But we can't really stop anywhere. It's not safe.
I kept taking left and right turns, even U turns but got nowhere. Well... Probably because we didn't have a specific destination. How stupid. The background noises were just Christian and Ruby talking, along with Maverick, Rexine and ivy talking aswell.
A while passed, as I drove around mindlessly. Ruby and Rexine were playing uno behind me, Maverick and ivy doing something.. I really couldn't tell. Christian and Nicole were talking. It was pretty tranquil, especially getting to rest after a while. I did stop at one point before, just for a short break.
I ended up on a very open and wide road, looking for the next right turn. I saw it and drove over, turning right. I hit something.. but when I saw what I had hit, I stepped on the brakes almost aggressively so the vehicle would stop. I froze momentarily, I couldn't move. Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to look outside.
"Holy mother of god.." Nicole cursed low and surprised.
