Chapter 35 - CHAPTER 35 (S2)

Anyways... Now I really don't know what to do. I mean, there's nowhere to go. Ah.. not to mention, I noticed something weird. Ivy had been extremely quiet.. and judging from Maverick and Rexine's perspective, apparently she was very outgoing. That doesn't suit me at all, though.. Maybe it's because we just met? But she's barely even talking

to her siblings. I think I'm just being paranoid, probably.. I mean.. she looks the shy and introverted type..

I brushed it off, afterall she left them. I trust her, and she seems to miss her siblings anyway.. I overthink too much. It was silent, as I kept driving.

"I think we could use you guys' arguing right about now.. it's silent and boring.." Maverick spoke with a bored tone. He was upside down on the seat. Christian rolled his eyes.

"True.. it would be entertaining to say the least. Afterall, you guys are the only two who can actually do that and mean everything." Rexine added. Using our arguments as entertainment? That's low.. but anyways, I just ignored them.

"You guys.. are just overreacting. We don't argue that much." Christian proclaimed, in which I could go against.

"Oh come on, we all know that's a lie." Ruby replied, as she crossed her arms. Nicole nodded.

"Yeah.. it's the most obvious lie." Nicole stated, true enough. Christian scoffed.

It went silent again, and the other started chatting, Maverick, Rexine and Christian. But something that caught my ear was Ruby talking to Nicole.

"Hey.. are you doing fine? You know.. after that.." she said, leaning her head closer, near Nicole's shoulder, Ruby directly behind him.

"I'm.. better. I'm just really glad you guys found me."

"Please tell me if you're uncomfortable, Nicole.. I don't want you to stay hurt without me knowing it.." Ruby responded, and Nicole sighed, turning his head slightly to her.

"I know.. I promise, I'll tell you. But I'm seriously fine.. alright? Trust me.." Nicole replied to her, with a slight smile. Meanwhile, Rexine and Maverick were talking and Christian was actually quiet for once.

"Why don't we find a place to stay? I mean, we can't live here as long as I'm concerned." Rexine suggested and said, which was true.

"I.. know a place nearby. I used to live around this area." I chimed in. It was an old, but nice place, and had alot of rooms.

"Lead the way." Nicole said, and I smiled slightly. I continued to drive, purely depending on my memory to get me there. I took a few turns and there it was. The very long, familiar road. I drove further, searching for the building.

I saw it. The tall maroon building. I parked nearby, and exited the car, walking to the trunk. I open it and take some stuff, Nicole helping me. As for Friday, she also jumped out, with Christian holding her.

"Here we are.." I said, looking up at the building. Maverick took a bat.. which happened to be in the trunk, and Rexine stepped up with a weapon too.

"You guys staying behind us.. we can fight our way in if it's necessary." Rexine said, as me and Nicole nodded. They walked into the building, we carefully made it inside. The elevator seemed to be broken, so I guess we had to take the stairs.. we cautiously climbed up, and thankfully no zombies.

We made it up to the first floor and stopped in front of the first apartment. We first had to check if it was open. The first one wasn't open.. so we tried the second. It also wasn't open. When we moved over to the third apartment, the door was wide open with dried blood on the wall near the door. Maverick was basically trembling scared but he didn't pay it much attention, and entered the room, along with Rexine. Ruby and Christian were behind us. When we entered, it was fairly clean inside just a few things dropped here and there. We managed to settle down and relax in the living room before going through the rooms.

Once we checked the whole place, it was safe, and aside from a few blood stains on the walls, it was fairly clean. We kept the stuff down and looked around, there were.. around 4 rooms, 5 single beds, and one king sized bed, which could easily fit two of us from the group.

Once we picked room partners, it was Ruby and Nicole in one room with two beds, and Maverick wanted to be with Ivy in another room with two beds. And then Rexine didn't mind having a room of her own.. that leaves.. SHIT. That leaves me and Christian with the king sized bed.. oh boy. I know for a fact that neither I nor Christian wanted to share a room together. This is going to be bad. well.. I don't think that dumbass has realized that yet, considering he was happily chatting away with Nicole. Everyone seemed pretty okay with the situation, to say the least. Besides, they all seemed fairly distracted doing their own things.

Currently, I was kind of just roaming through the apartment, and if it isn't obvious, boredly. Suddenly Ruby came up to me and started a conversation. Although I wasn't very attentive to what she was saying, she seemed happy, and well.

"hey Perry?" she muttered to me, her voice a little quieter this time, but she sounded a bit mischievous.

"yes...?" I replied, raising an eyebrow.

she smiled mischievously before asking me a question i never expected from her. "do you like Christian?" I almost choked on my own saliva when she asked that. I took a minute to process the bold and bluntness of her question before finally answering.

"NO- no! why.. would you ask that all of a sudden?" I responded, still a little dumbfounded by her sudden question.

"i dont know.. its just that.. you guys seem to be getting along better- well, i know that sounds ridiculous, considering you guys still fight all the time.. but what i mean is, your fights seem more empty and less aggressive than before... like it feels like you take him more lightly." Ruby explained. more light hearted? hah.. the only thing that's hearted is the way i wholeheartedly still hate that guy. I sighed, shoving a hand into my pocket.

"The only thing that's taken lightly is his idiocy.." I muttered, rolling my eyes. "Well, okay I understand you think that.. but i do not like that guy.. okay?" Ruby raised an eyebrow and smirked slightly.

"Are you sure about that, 'shitty face'?" she replied in a mocking, teasing tone. my eyes widened slightly as i definitely didn't expect her to say it just like that. I could feel my cheeks heating up slightly as she continued to look at me slightly amused.

"Hey! keep your damn voice down! god... the last thing i need is someone mocking that idiot, seriously." I was a little irritated, as Ruby just chuckled at my reaction.

she only smirked wider, before giggling and leaving to the living room. I looked around and let out a sigh of relief, seeing no one around to hear that.

Eventually, I picked myself up and entered the living room where mostly just chatting was heard. Before I could even find myself a place to sit down, Nicole said something that caught my ear.

"..I just remembered there's like two more bags still inside the car!" he proclaimed before getting up and heading towards the exit in a hurry. I walked over and blocked the exit.

"You aren't going alone. I'm going with you." I said. It was obvious that it wasn't a choice. He sighed and did not object. Everyone was silently watching.

"ill also go!" Maverick added, and jumped out of his seat and stood behind Nicole. my eyes averted over to Christian who didn't say anything, but stepped forward, indicating he'd go as well.

I turned around as I was closest to the exit door, and I opened it quietly, looking both sides, prior to... BEEP. Before I could react, it was already pitch black.
