Fini stood at the mansion gates, suitcase in hand.
She didn't cry this time.
Not when Calvin's mother told her, "You're nothing but a scandal waiting to happen."
Not when Arora slid her arm around Calvin's and smiled like she owned him.
Not even when Calvin looked at her, confused, and asked, "Who are you again?"
> The amnesia was real.
And so was the pain.
But it was Arora's words that cut deepest.
> "Now that he's forgotten, there's no place for you here. And soon... he'll be a father again. My baby, not yours."
Fini didn't respond. She simply walked out.
But just as the gate closed behind her—a car screeched to a stop.
A man stepped out.
Dark hair, sunglasses, scar on his temple.
Ezra.
> "Fini!"
She froze.
Was she dreaming?
He rushed to her, pulled her into a hug—real, solid, alive.
> "I thought you were—" she choked.
"I'm back," Ezra said. "And I'm not leaving this time."
---
Inside the mansion, Calvin stood at the balcony.
Watching.
He didn't know why, but seeing Fini in another man's arms made his chest burn.
His fists clenched.
> "Why does she matter to me?"
"Why do I feel like I'm the one who lost something?"
Behind him, Arora walked in, rubbing her belly.
Fake bump.
Fake smile.
"I think we should announce the baby soon."
Calvin blinked. "Baby?"
She touched his hand. "Our baby."
Somewhere deep inside him, it felt… wrong.
---
Later that evening, Fini stayed at a hotel. Ezra sat across from her, sipping coffee.
"You need to know something," he said.
He placed a letter on the table. "It's from my mother. She found out why I disappeared."
Fini opened the letter. Her hands shook.
> "Ezra was threatened. If he didn't leave, you would've been hurt. Calvin's family had ties to the ones who orchestrated it. He vanished to protect you."
Fini's eyes blurred with tears.
"Everything makes sense now…"
Ezra reached for her hand.
"I'm here now. I'll help you fight this. And the baby—"
Fini pulled her hand back.
> "Ezra… the baby might not be yours."
Ezra's face turned cold. But he nodded.
"We'll deal with the truth. But first, we get you back what's yours."
---
Back at the mansion, Arora watched from the shadows as Calvin stood by the piano.
He played a tune.
Slow. Haunting.
Suddenly, he stopped. He clutched his head.
Flashes.
Memories.
A kiss in the rain.
A woman's voice whispering, "I never wanted this marriage either."
A name… Fini.
"Fini…"
He stumbled back. "She was my wife…"
Arora appeared at the door, panic flashing in her eyes.
"What did you say?"
But Calvin didn't answer. He looked up.
His eyes finally full of confusion — and fear.
> "What did you do to me, Arora?"
