Chapter 34 - Chapter 31: Unexpected Turn

The Rise of the God of Death

Chapter 31: Unexpected Turn

As the commentator stepped forward to raise Zypher's hand and declare his victory, medics rushed to take Daren off the stage. But before they could reach him… something happened.

Zypher's body pulsed.

A strange, unstable pressure leaked from him.

It wasn't full Aura Release—this was different.

This was *Simple Release*.

A rare skill. Weaker than Monarch-level Aura Release, but deadly in its own way. Only 10–30% of true aura, but enough to crush everyone below a certain rank.

Everyone nearby—guards, medics, staff—collapsed instantly. The crowd was in chaos.

Zypher stood unfazed, lifting his head slightly and saying coldly:

*"I didn't come here to win… I came to finish an old quest."*

He summoned his *Legendary-ranked sword*, its glow swallowing the air around him. He walked toward Daren, preparing to end it.

Then—

*"I figured you were going to try that…"*

Daren grabbed both Zypher's wrists from the ground, forcing his arms wide open—

*BOOM!*

A brutal *Light-element leg strike* launched Zypher into the wall.

Zypher stood up, smirking.

*"You escaped once… you won't again."*

He shot forward with his sword, fast enough to blur.

Daren, bleeding, summoned his sword and roared:

*"That's my line, bastard!"*

They clashed mid-air—again and again—every strike shook the stage, dust filling the sky.

Guards started evacuating the spectators. The arena was collapsing.

*—Meanwhile—*

Daimon had already left.

He broke into a hidden building deep in the city—

Inside: the *Leader of the East* and the *Competition CEO* were in the middle of a meeting.

He walked straight in. Calm. Silent.

*"What's your relation to Vand?"* he asked coldly.

The CEO was confused.

But the Leader of the East?

He was shaking. Eyes wide. Voice trembling:

*"I… I won't say anything…"*

*CRACK!*

Daimon's hand slammed into the table, blowing the room apart.

He grabbed the Leader by the collar:

*"So you're hiding under his protection."*

*"H-how did you know…?"*

*"Because you reek of fear,"* Daimon whispered, then slammed him into the ground.

He left the building, eyes glowing.

*"Another city under my rule then… Not bad."*

*—Back to the Arena—*

Daren and Zypher were still going at it, but Daren was slowing down.

Zypher finally caught him and slammed him through the wall.

Everyone left on the battlefield charged forward to stop Zypher, led by *Zoldink*, who had recovered quickly thanks to his fast cultivation.

But Zypher only grinned.

*"How puny… You're trying to stop a God."*

He blitzed them all.

Zoldink tried to carry Daren away—but Zypher caught him and drove him into the ground.

Now no one stood.

Zypher stepped forward, lifting his blade.

*"Sigh… Now, nothing stands between me and your death."*

He channeled his strength—half in his legs, half in his sword—and charged to finish Daren.

*Suddenly…*

Up high…

A figure stood on top of the arena's edge. Calm. Silent.

*Daimon.*

And in a blink—he was gone.
