Chapter 3 - Elias

The rot from the monster stunk; the winds carried it up and across the campus. The rotors spun weakly as the pilot leaned on the side of the frame, "Boots up in 5." Aria nodded as she stridded back to the helicopter. Kairo had half expected Lucan and Hinari to follow, too, but Lucan stood in front of him as Hinari sat on an AC unit across from Kairo. "So... vigilante, what's your name?"

"...Kairo." A hint of hesitation crossed his voice as Lucan seemed to think, "Do you think-." Lucan cut him off immediately, "Yes. Today is your lucky day, it's your day to be recruited." Kairo blinked blankly as he looked up at Lucan, "But- she just... Wait, Really?" He nodded before giving Aria a lethal grin, before he turned to her, "Aria here has gone 0-6 on recruit. Something about looking for a true diamond in the rough. She even told me to fuck off."

Hinari smirked as her ears perked up and her tail flicked with smug amusement, "And she regrets it every day."

Lucan chuckled as Aria let a sharp, "Shut it." Lucan looked over toward the helicopter, seemingly noticing someone, before he could even speak. He was cut off, "If it ain't the bastard that keeps calling me to give him rides like he's my boss." The pilot glared at Lucan, "Oh come on, Elias." Then Lucan's eyes glossed the flight deck of the helicopter, and he smirked as he yelled, "Hey, shorty, miss me?" She just raised her hand and flipped him off without looking away from her phone.

"So what now?" Kairo asked, and Hinari was somehow next to him, despite being 15 feet away just half a second ago. "Try to find Lucan after school, he'll take you there." Hinari then looked him up and down before whispering, "However, you're just a filthy tier 3 that won't last a week."

Kairo looked up to see a sneer of disgust on her face. Before it twisted back to a smile, Kairo was confused to say the least and his first thought was, 'That sounded racist.'
