They had checked out of the station as Kairo gave his ID back, it was raining hell, puddles were forming quickly like it was flooding. The only source of the light were a hundred-year-old streetlights and the station's dimly lit lights. Lucan started walking as they put their hoods on and walked, the rain slapped against their heads as they walked, Kairo walked closely behind as thunder struck. It felt as if the town were abandoned and derelict, Buildings leaning, weathered wood and stone, ivy and moss crawling over walls. Everything felt heavy with age.
People only watched from their buildings as Kairo walked past, staring as if they knew he didn't belong. Those who were brave enough to wander in the thunderstorm walked with their heads down hidden under their hoods. They walked past a mother and their child; the girl was no older than 7 and stared at Lucan. Was it fear? Respect? Hatred? Only to be yanked away by her mother, "The way that girl was looking at you—" Lucan spoke up before he could finish.
"Been getting those looks for a while, whether it be the people or the council." Kairo looked at Lucan his face was clearly being plagued by these events before Kairo asked, "The council?" Lucan walked along before smiling through the rain, "You most likely won't meet them unless you get to a certain rank but they are decision makers at the Ashfell Branch." They started walking again as whispers plagued the night, monsters? Scared Humans? Tier ones? The last one was unlikely to be the case.
Kairo walked on as he saw a graffiti, "Monsters live amongst us!" and "Keep the ABPIGS out of Ashfell!" After what was 15 minutes, they finally reached a narrow two-way road, and on top the hill was a fence but a closer sign said, "Home of the Ashfell ABPU." With the word, "PIGS." Spraypainted over the "ABPU."
