Chapter 7 - Ashfell

Some time had passed but Lucan's words lingered in his mind, "37 percent," he thought as the train tracks started to go up, it's clear that the train was going onto the surface. When it left the tunnel, Kairo could hear the thunder before his carriage made it out the tunnel. Rain started to beat down on the windows. The sky hung in a dim blue grey, the last traces of sunlight bleeding faintly along the horizon and lightning tore across the sky.

The Public Announcement chimed as Lucan seemed all too familiar with it, "The Next stop is Ashfell Crossing. Please Take all your belongings with you and don't forget to tap out." The system then died as if it only had enough power to say that. Kairo then looked out the window as the train crossed a steel truss bridge, the triangles fitting complementary to each other. "So… we are walking in this?" Lucan nodded as the train started to break.

Kairo then turned around to see a mansion as the train curved along the tracks passing another train. It was big, old and the hard search lights shining through the dark, even in the heavy rain… "What's that building?" Kairo asked as he turned half his body to look at it, it's clear that there were some trees covering the lower half of the mansion, "That…" He said simply "is the base." The train finally started to ease into the station as the platform came across the platform.

A destroyed sign passed his eyes, it was old and degraded, "-to Ashfell Crossing." There were people at the platform but barely any, the last bits of light finally dipped below the horizon. It was night, it was going to be a dark, showery night. Lucan stood up as the train stopped and the doors scraped open, as soon as they stepped off, they were pelted with cats and dogs. "Keep close. We are the only real security."
