Chapter 6 - Glasswater

"Third Year? So, what do the accolades and awards lead to?" Kairo asked as the train started to ease into Glasswater Terminal. As the doors opened, Lucan started to lay down the explanation, "Okay, so there's the added fame of being an All ABPU like the nods and being known, but there's also only 30 spaces for the All ABPU team, right? Okay with the All Elite ABPU Team, there are only 10 spaces for an agent."

Kairo's eyes then lit up, "So you become popular, but surely there has to be more." Lucan nodded as he leaned back, "Oh yeah, there is, and it gets better, okay, so if you make the All ABPU squad, you get a trophy and a prize of twenty thousand, and if you are one of the 10 that make the elite squad, you get 50 thousand. Then it gets better, right, so then from the 10 Selected, they are ranked, and the number 1 is made agent of the year, you get a cooler trophy and 250 thousand."

Kairo nodded, "So big payout and fame? I could get used to that." He said, rubbing his hands as a small number of people entered the train car, "Kairo. It would be cool to have money in your pocket and people around the ABPU know you, but it isn't easy." Kairo sat back as the train cars closed their doors and the train started to set off, "Sure, it is, you made it right." Lucan looked at him. Lucan is naïve, but he wasn't that naïve when Lucan was selected as an All-Elite Team. Lucan didn't show up because he thought there was no way in hell he'd be selected.

"Kairo, despite what you think, I am one of the most talented agents of all time. Yes, I worked hard, but there's a reason this job has a mortality rate of over all branches is 37%. I want you to keep it real; overconfidence makes you careless."
