Chapter 32 - Abrupt

"Hey, Selene?" Selene looked up from her desk, "Hello—" It was very abrupt, like something was bugging her. Angel sat in a chair next to her, "Something on your mind?" Selene kept clicking her pen quickly and forcefully against her desk, which wasn't hard enough to kill a fly but hard enough to notice… Angel looked at her hands and the pen, almost like she was trying to release some frustration.

He cleared his throat quietly as she looked at Angel with a blank expression, "Something wrong with the pen?" Selene's facial expression remained stagnant. "It's just a pen." She said with a shrug, but Angel had caught on, "It's not the pen itself then… You trying to— No… You're trying to take your frustration out on the pen?"

Selene looked at him, a small smirk creeping onto her face, "You could tell." It was very monotone, but she stood and pushed the chair next to him, "So what's on your mind?" Angel said as she started to speak, "It's… How they're going about the treatment of this whole Lucan investigation…"

"So, how's the director going about this? If that's who you mean?" Selene leaned in closer, resting her head on his shoulder, "He's not looking at it smartly. He's looking at it… How he wants to see it… Like he wants to slander Lucan." Angel nodded as she spoke, "Yeah, Cam Clark told me that it's like he hates Lucan or something… What is he saying about this?"

Selene started again, "He's trying to say that Lucan did all of this because Hinari rejected him…" Angel looked at her, and she looked at him, "Wait… What? Wasn't he like one of the only people who loved his job?" She nodded as she stood up, the silence hung in the air for a minute, "Yeah… Thank you for listening— Stand up." As Angel did, she hugged him, and Angel hugged her back, "Thank you, my Angel…"
