Morin's net worth was obviously higher than Reyes's.
The term "multi-millionaire" can describe someone with a hundred million dollars, or it can describe someone with ten billion, or even a hundred billion. Morin hadn't even bothered to count his assets, but he knew he had enough to spend freely.
And even though Hobbs had a hundred million dollars in cash, not all of it was his.
"So, how should we start?" Gisele asked.
"It's not that hard, is it?" Morin said. "When is Reyes coming to the beach?"
"He's already here. He's at a beach hotel not far from here, talking business with his clients," Gisele replied.
"Okay," Morin said, then waved in a certain direction. One of his men, who was following his orders and staying far away but still keeping an eye on him, walked over.
When you're out and about, you can't do everything yourself, especially when you're a multi-millionaire with status. Morin had, of course, hired some people to do his bidding and handle some of the arrangements. This was unavoidable and necessary.
"What are your orders, sir?" the man asked.
"There's a 'businessman' here named Hernan Reyes," Morin instructed. "Go find him, give him one of my business cards, and tell him I have some business to discuss with him."
"Yes, sir," the man said without asking any questions. He quickly went to do as he was told.
"This…" Gisele was a little confused. "That's all?"
"What else? Do you want me to send you to seduce him?" Morin said, shaking his head with a laugh. "When you have enough power, you can solve many problems directly."
"Then… can your men find him that quickly?" Gisele was still a little confused. "You didn't tell them where Reyes was. How can they contact him right away?"
"My men aren't useless people who do nothing and just wait around to die," Morin said. "If they've been in Rio for so many days and still can't figure out the most basic information about this place, then that just means I'm bad at hiring people…"
"And so far, my hiring decisions have been perfect."
As a man with such a large fortune, if he didn't have men to ensure his safety, he would be targeted very quickly. Morin hired his men not only to handle odd jobs but also to avoid unnecessary trouble, like being targeted by criminals.
He couldn't be expected to personally deal with every fly that came his way.
Morin was interested in putting on a show and beating people, but only for certain people. As for the nameless lackeys that he wouldn't even bother to remember… was it worth it? It would be a complete waste of energy!
So, as good subordinates, Morin's men's job was to help him deal with things, understand the situation around him, and stop any flies from bothering him.
That's why Morin had said that if his men had been in Rio for a while and still didn't know about Hernan Reyes, the local snake, then they really should be fired.
Even though his men couldn't always pinpoint Reyes's exact location, they would definitely have his contact information and some basic details. Once they had that, everything else was easy.
A little while later, Morin's man returned.
"Sir," the man said. "We've contacted Mr. Reyes. Surprisingly, he's at the beach hotel not far from here. Would you like me to have him come over? Mr. Reyes said he would be happy to start talking now if you are free."
Gisele almost couldn't control her eyes from widening.
They really were able to contact him that quickly, and the other person was that eager?
Was this really Reyes, the local snake of Rio whom no one dared to offend?
Gisele didn't know that even though there was a saying that a powerful dragon shouldn't challenge a local snake, nothing was ever absolute.
And right now, Morin's dragon was much more powerful than Reyes's snake. Or rather, their positions and needs were completely unequal.
Reyes was already annoyed by the trouble Toretto and his crew had been causing.
As the local snake of Rio and a major drug lord who had the police station as his backyard, when had Reyes ever had to worry about a small group of thugs?
He had been forced to gather all his money and hide it in his vault because of them?
Although it was safe, it was a huge blow to his pride!
And that was what made Reyes the angriest!
First, a group of people who dared to mess with him appeared, and this whole thing became public. And the most infuriating thing was that his men still hadn't been able to find them!
The wanted posters he had put up were like a joke. They had yet to produce any useful results. Reyes felt like his face was being slapped repeatedly in front of everyone!
In this situation, Reyes had to suppress his anger and go talk to his clients… even though he was the local snake of Rio, it was only because people bought his products and sold him things. He was able to make a huge profit, bribe people, and hire others to get to where he was today!
Without these clients, he wouldn't completely collapse overnight, but it would definitely hurt him badly. Reyes knew that what had put him in his current position was "profit." If that profit disappeared, he would be truly finished.
So, when he was talking to his clients, he was suddenly told by his man that a "businessman" client wanted to talk to him. Reyes wasn't too concerned at first, but after seeing Morin's business card and learning about his financial status, he knew he couldn't miss this client.
How much of that hundred million dollars in the vault was actually his?
Even though Reyes considered it all his, he knew very well that not much of it was his. It was money from many different parties.
But now, this man who had come to see him was a real multi-millionaire!
If he could close a big deal with this man, then even if something happened to the money… even though Reyes believed that nothing would happen to that money, it was always better to be safe than sorry!
If he could close a big deal with Morin, he could not only reassure his timid clients but also secure a backup plan for himself… what a great plan!
And that's why Reyes had given that reply.
