Chapter 12 - The Red-Haired Goddess

The Loki Familia's reception room was decorated very warmly.

The simple yet exquisite furniture gave a cozy feeling, and the simple lines and overall greenish color of the room gave a fresh and natural feeling. It was clear that the person who decorated this room put some thought into it.

It would not make the visitors feel that the Loki Familia was too solemn and unapproachable.

Emiya waited in this reception room for about fifteen minutes before the door to the room was opened again.

A demihuman came into the room. To be precise, she was an elf. This elf had smooth, emerald-green long hair and eyes of the same color.

Her slender figure gave her a graceful and delicate impression, showing the elf's unique graceful curves.

Her fair skin even seemed translucent. At the same time, she exuded a sharp and heroic aura.

And this beautiful elf was none other than the strongest mage of the labyrinth city of Orario, the "Nine Hell Princess" and a member of the royal elven family—Riveria Ljos Alf.

"I apologize for the wait."

The Nine Demon Princess, who had just entered the reception room, first apologized to Emiya, then sat on the sofa opposite Emiya, and looked at him with a pair of eyes that seemed to be able to see through everything.

"Are you the one who wants to join our Loki Familia?"

"Yes," Emiya nodded.

Riveria said calmly, "Although you may know me, I'll introduce myself anyway. My name is Riveria Ljos Alf, the Vice-Captain of the Loki Familia. May I have your name?"

"Emiya!"

"Emiya?" Riveria was a bit surprised by the short name. "Are you from the far east?"

As far as she knew, only the people from the far east in the Take-Mikazuchi Familia had such short names, and even then, they were usually three or four syllables.

It was very rare for someone to have a name with only two syllables like this.

However, Riveria didn't pay too much attention to it because she could tell from the other person's eyes that he wasn't lying.

She nodded to herself and continued, "Before I can decide whether you can join the Loki Familia, I have a few questions for you. I hope you can answer them truthfully."

"Okay."

"What is your reason for wanting to join the Loki Familia?"

Emiya thought for a moment and said, "Probably to grow stronger faster and to have a mutually beneficial relationship with the Loki Familia."

"Mutually beneficial?" Riveria was truly surprised this time.

A newcomer who didn't seem to have received a god's blessing yet was talking about having a mutually beneficial relationship with the Loki Familia.

Who gave him the courage?

Does he think he's qualified to help the Loki Familia?

Riveria found it a bit absurd, but when she looked into the other person's eyes, she didn't see a hint of anxiety or fear.

It was as if the other person was truly confident that he could help the Loki Familia. For a moment, even the Nine Hell Princess Riveria was unsure.

Was this guy overly confident and ignorant, or did he really have the ability to help the Loki Familia?

After hesitating for a moment, Riveria asked her second question. "If you join the Loki Familia, will you do evil things under our name?"

"If I say no, would you believe me?" Emiya asked back.

Riveria didn't answer directly. Instead, she said, "I have some confidence in my judgment of people."

"Then I can tell you that I'm not that kind of person."

Riveria looked at Emiya's eyes. Emiya did not waver. She nodded and asked her third question. "Have you joined any other Familia before?"

"No."

"When did you come to Orario?"

"Today."

"So, the Loki Familia is the first Familia you've visited?"

"Yes."

Riveria's questions were not difficult, and Emiya answered them one by one. But after she finished asking, Riveria did not refuse Emiya or agree to let him join the Loki Familia.

Instead, she said, "Please wait for a moment. I'll be right back."

Emiya nodded.

After Riveria left the reception room, she went to the center of a stone tower.

Here, she did not find the person she was looking for. So she grabbed a passing dwarf and asked, "Gareth, have you seen Loki?"

Gareth's full name was Gareth Landrock. He was a Level 6 adventurer of the Loki Familia and, along with the Captain Finn and herself, Riveria, a member of the Familia's command structure.

He was a very kind-hearted dwarf.

"Loki? What do you need her for, Riveria?" the dwarf Gareth asked.

Riveria nodded and said truthfully, "There's a newcomer in the Familia who wants to join, but I can't read him, so I wanted to ask Loki for some advice."

"Oh, you can't read him either?" Gareth was quite surprised.

In the Loki Familia, there were only three people who could decide whether a newcomer could join.

The first was their goddess, Loki herself. The second was the Captain Finn, and the third was the Vice-Captain Riveria. Even he only had the right to recommend, not to decide.

A newcomer that Riveria couldn't read was indeed very rare. It seemed that the Loki Familia was about to welcome a very interesting newcomer.

Gareth thought for a moment and said, "I saw Loki in the courtyard just now, but that was a while ago. I don't know if Lady Loki is still there."

Riveria heard that and said, "I'll go check," and turned to leave.

Based on Gareth's suggestion, Riveria walked through the headquarters' skybridge and found her goddess Loki in the courtyard.

"Loki."

"Ah, Riveria, what do you need me for?" the red-haired goddess, who was basking in the sun, raised her head and looked at the approaching elven girl.

As a descended goddess, Loki naturally possessed a beauty that ordinary mortals could not compare to.

Her delicate facial features and smooth skin were enough to make any woman go crazy. And the Familia she founded had become one of the strongest Familias in the labyrinth city of Orario.

In both appearance and power, she was at the top.

She was a true winner in life.

If there was one thing lacking, it was her chest, which was as flat as a cliff and was her eternal pain.

This was also why she could never hold her head high when facing a certain poor goddess who had nothing but big breasts.

What was even more terrifying was that even after millions of years, her body had not changed at all, so Loki did not expect her body to change in the future. It was impossible.

Riveria said, "There's a newcomer in the Familia who wants to join. I hope you can go and take a look."

The red-haired goddess went "oho" and became a bit interested. "What kind of newcomer is he?"

Riveria said, "A newcomer who might be from the far east and whom I can't read. He doesn't seem to have had any training, but he gives me a sense of threat. If I'm not careful, I might die facing him."

Loki became even more interested. She stroked her chin and said, "I have time. Let's go and see what kind of newcomer he is that even you, a 'mom,' can't read."

Riveria said helplessly, "I'm not a mom."

...

Meanwhile, Emiya waited for another fifteen minutes in the reception room.

The door to the reception room was opened again, and Riveria, who had left not long ago, came back.

But this time, she was not alone. There was a red-haired goddess with her.

"I apologize for the wait," Riveria said.

And the red-haired woman walked boldly in front of Emiya, bent down, and put her face close to Emiya's, almost bumping her nose into his face.

"So you're the one who wants to join my Familia, newcomer?"

Although Loki didn't exude any pressure, Emiya still felt a sense of pressure.

He couldn't help but lean back, looked at the red-haired goddess, and his heart pounded. This made Emiya, who was a bit nonchalant, become serious.

After all, the person in front of him, no matter how unreliable she seemed, was a goddess who had lived for millions of years.

Her experience and wisdom were far beyond that of ordinary people.

"That's right, Lady Loki."

"Your name is Emiya?"

"Yes."

"I heard from Riveria that you want to join the Loki Familia because you want to grow stronger quickly and believe you can have a mutually beneficial relationship with the Loki Familia."

"That's right."

"Do you know the status of the Loki Familia in the labyrinth city?"

"Of course, one of the two strongest Familias in Orario."

Loki walked back, sat on the sofa, and crossed her legs.

"You know the status of the Loki Familia, yet you still think you can have a mutually beneficial relationship with us. You're very brave, young man. Is your confidence from that strange power in your body?"

"You noticed it," Emiya said, not surprised at all. After all, Loki was a goddess.

Although she had sealed her omniscient and omnipotent divine power, she was still a goddess who had lived for millions of years. Her insight was far beyond that of ordinary people.

"What is that strange power?" Loki asked with great interest.

"A superpower," Emiya said bluntly. There was no need to hide this.

"A superpower? What is that? Is it a skill?" In the DanMachi world, there was sword skills, magic, and skills, but there was no such thing as a superpower.

"In a way, it's similar to a skill," Emiya nodded.

"What kind of skill is it?"

"That, you'll find out when I join your Familia and receive your blessing. Wouldn't it be better for you to see it with your own eyes than for me to tell you?"

Loki looked down at Emiya, and her eyes shimmered. Emiya's breath hitched.
