Chapter 17 - No Rest

Divine Life Energy allowed Phuture to restore the souls of spiritual beings, and it offered her the ability of bringing life back to humans. Except, using the technique had a history of damaging her soul.

Back in her world before she was transmigrated, they were in the middle of war against a demon named Valeur, and she used her prowess to save many lives as she could. The damage was still fresh to her soul but she could remember her husband making stopping usage before it was too late.

The Demon Corps successfully killed The Confederate Demon at the expense of Terrance almost dying and Chicago literally dying. He was resurrected from the dead by Phuture, completely healed of all injures and spiritual energy restored to full capacity.

The same thing she had done for Terrance when he was at brink of death, but only because Chicago stalled The Confederate Demon for a moment.

"I'm back at full power now..." Dark's voice spoke into Phuture's mind telepathically again. "How much pain are you dealing with after restoring Chicago and I? Your spiritual energy is nearly on empty!"

Phuture telepathically replied. "I'm still alive, that's all that matters."

The Demon Corps gathered together after resting for a few hours, deciding to camp out for the night instead of invading some slaver owners home again.

Chicago remained asleep, still resting next to the campfire as the others grouped up for conversation.

"We can stay and fight against the rest of his demon platoon, or we can leave the state and start our journey somewhere else." Terrance said. "I suggest that we rest for awhile after this intense battle...it would be our smartest decision."

Willie Lou shook her head and denied. "No, we ain't runnin' from nobody. We'll stay here and kill the whole platoon, they're all responsible for the deaths of my brother and sister."

Terrance nodded, "Very well, so the final decision is for you to make...Phuture."

Phuture glanced over towards the sleeping Chicago, a young man who died today, and wondered if Willie Lou answer would be the same if she knew.

I'm sure the quest for vengeance would be even higher if she was aware...that would mean they just about killed all her loved ones. The Confederate Demon would've certainly killed her too if they battled, there was no doubts in her mind about that.

"We should keep Chicago in safety…I remember how to use most of my techniques so I can place him in a healing orb while we handle the rest of the demon platoon." Phuture answered. "I think we should stay."

"Decision made." Terrance nodded. "We'll be changing too much history, but if it pays off for the good…"

For the first time since being transmigrated, Dark was at the peak of his spiritual prowess, but something was blocking him from time traveling when he attempted.

Someone was using some type of technique to keep them trapped, anticipating that they'd reach full power and have the capabilities of traveling through different worlds and times.

"Speaking of the orb…you taught me how to use the healing orb, remember?" Terrance questioned, he said. "I'll focus on killing the demons with Willie Lou, you should heal in your orb with Chicago."

Phuture wanted to protest and finish the battle against demons with them, but her spiritual energy was much weaker than before now. He was right that taking the night off would be the wisest decision.

Terrance created the healing orb made of his spiritual prowess for Phuture and Chicago, sending them both to his True Domain for their healing process.

Terrance and Willie Lou were the lone two for the upcoming mission, expecting more demons to locate them soon in search for their leader.

Terrance's spiritually prowess upgraded exponentially after Phuture's technique, but she was down to less than five percent of spiritual energy. His main priority was keeping her away from losing her soul, staying alive was the main objective to getting home.

Willie Lou and Terrance left their camping grounds in the middle of night, traveling on foot while expecting company to soon arrive for battle.

Willie Lou, a teenage demon hunter that lost most of her family to The Confederate Demon. Her sole drive and purpose became to kill that demon until The Divine Gods achieved her vengeance. Now, Willie Lou seeked to assist Chicago with wiping away the existence of demons.

"Thank you." Willie Lou murmured while walking through the woods, she kept her senses on alert while talking. "You killed that scumbag for me…I really appreciate you putting your soul on the line for me and Chicago."

"I wasn't at full strength…so it was more difficult than it should've been. I'm sorry this happened to you Willie Lou…your family didn't deserve this. I know you were seeking to become stronger so you could kill that demon, but I think you should keep growing so you can protect your family from all evils. There's more evils than just those demons…continue your path of freedom for people of all skin color. I know you can do it."

Willie Lou glanced up at him and smiled. "I'll continue the fight for long as I live!"

Terrance chuckled. "Good, because the world is gonna need many people like you as possible for the next few hundred years."

Willie Lou squinted her eyes. "Exactly how old are you?"

"I'm not really all that old…I'm just from hundreds of years before this…my world knows history on Earth. I was born on Earth, my life started on Earth until…let's just say things changed. That's a story for another day."

Willie Lou rolled her eyes. "Here I am thinking your an alien."

More chuckles. "Nah I started off just a human being, just like you and evolved throughout time to become The Divine God. I've been through a lot young lady…we've persevered unheard of events. I've had my fair share of bad decisions and losses as well, so never feel discouraged when you take a hit. You never know when you can touch the level of The Gods."

"Trust me, I'll always have this fire in my soul."

The duo's conversation was cut short when they saw flames from a distance, determining them to be torches coming closer to their destination. The demon platoon finally arrived to finish their war against The Demon Corpss without knowing their leader was dead.

"I want to test out my strength…it's felt like ages since I contained my full power." Terrance's aura began to glow orange. "Allow me to annihilate their platoon."
