Chapter 27 - The Snow Storm

Heavy snow storms throughout the end of fall delayed upcoming raids, a storm so severe that even Terrance and Phuture didn't want any parts of adventuring outside.

The storm lasted for weeks throughout majority of the month of December, a record breaking storm that was never supposed to take place in the history of America.

Heavy winds, freezing weather, and snow devastated states that barely had ever seen snow in the south. The east was engulfed in snow during the storm as well, forcing everyone to mostly stay stationary where they were before the sudden storm.

In Beaufort, South Carolina, The Union soldiers continued their planning and collaborating with The Demon Corps. The weeks off gathered together in Beaufort gave them an opportunity of recruiting more members.

The Demon Corps added an additional five African Americans, including the legendary Harriet Tubman and an African American legend from Beaufort named Robert Smalls.

Robert Smalls was recently placed in charge of a Confederate ship named CSS Planter, a ship he would sail to Union soldiers for his freedom a few months down the line in spring 1862.

Phuture and Dark's transmigration altered history for Robert as well, leading to him giving the CSS Planter to Union soldiers sooner and joining the mission against the Confederacy in his home town.

The winter storm held back many battles until late December, when the Confederate forces began to push Union progesssion in efforts of taking back ground they recently lost in Virginia and South Carolina.

Willie Lou ordered the first mission for Demon Corps in weeks, sending multiple members to the snowy battlefield to investigate for supernatural activity.

Phuture, Terrance, Harriet, Hayze, and Elmer teamed as five for the mission, arriving on scene to an ongoing battle using teleportation technique.

Blistering winds made it hard to see anything with freezing cold snow flying into your eyes, the conditions on the battlefield were extremely brutal.

Phuture could feel three different supernatural beings, all of them compared to The Confederate Demon in spiritual pressure. One of them was about equal while the other two were certainly more powerful.

Why are all these demons so strong? They've probably called in the big guns to stop us! To think I've been here for over a month and I'm still questioning my own power! I'm still just barely under twenty percent of my spiritual prowess after reviving Chicago…I'm probably not enough.

"Hey!" Hayze called out with excitement as if eager to battle, he pointed to the left where a strong spiritual pressure was located. "The Hoodied Demon is here!"

"No wonder we're losing so much ground…" Terrance spoke to himself out loud, he created fur coats for the team made of his divine energy. "And there's someone stronger than him…they're summoning soldiers as ice demons…someone's controlling them thats pretty strong in the back. Leave that demon to me, you guys split up however you like to kill the other two."

Terrance spoke his peace and disappeared to attack his target, wasting no time getting into the battlefield for American Army assistance.

"The men can handle the other demon." Harriet said, reaching her hand out towards Phuture. "Wanna watch me work, Lady Phu?"

Harriet wrapped a scarf around her face and tucked herself into the fur coat, assuring her ears and body was comfortable warm before pursuing The Hoodied Demon.

Harriet and Phuture triggered laughter from The Hoodied Demon after arriving about two hundred meters behind him. The demon was thrilled for two extremely powerful spiritual pressures coming after him, and he'd been wanting more excitement ever since his last brawl against Hayze.

The excitement trickled away when the demon turned around, disgusted to see two black women as his opponents.

"Sending monkeys after me is one thing…but just tell me ya ain't that Tubman monkey." The Hoodied Demon's deep southern accent expressed hatred, his red spiritual aura began to expand with his anger. "I was expecting that boy from last time."

Harriet coughed up a soft chuckle, giving a confident laugh at the demon that eased a few of Phuture's nerves.

"I can tell ya been worried baby." Harriet spoke softly to Phuture, she continued. "The key is confidence….be confident in your strength, brains, finesse, and elegance. You're a natural rather inside your true vessel, reincarnated, or transmigrated. You are a piece of God…allow me to show you how."

Harriet stepped ahead of Phuture after sensing doubts from another woman, hoping to boost her confidence in the future by displaying the power of ego. She knew the Divine Goddess was more than powerful enough to kill the scum demon before them, but it was just a matter of boosting her confidence to knowing so as well.

The Hoodied Demon blitzed forward to begin their brawl, but he was quickly cut off by Harriet's first technique.

"Water Manipulation."

The snowfall's shape transfigured into shards of ice after her words, raining down on the demon at accelerated speed to pin him against the body of snow.

Phuture took note of how Harriet purposely pinned down the demon's hands first, assuring that he couldn't escape by using his domain. The rest of the shards came storming to stab into his arms, legs, back, and a few shards stabbed him in the head.

Harriet formed the snow into one humongous shard of ice above The Hoodied Demon, keeping her arms crosser the entire time as the enlarged shard of ice came crashing down into the land.

Harriet mumbled. "He's dead."

The collision quaked the battlegrounds, and broke through the ground to cave a ginormous hole.

Harriet and Phuture were anxiously anticipating the demon's spiritual prowess to fade away, but he remained flowing with the same amount of power.

The duo's location swapped from the snowy battlefield in Virginia, arriving to a world made of The Hoodied Demon's spiritual energy.

"Fascinating…" The Hoodied Demon chuckled while clapping his hands, sitting crisscrossed as he taunted. "You're definitely stronger than that last guy, Tubman. Welcome to my True Domain, monkeys."

Harriet made sure to pin him down by the hands so he couldn't clap to activate his domain, and dropped an oversized shard on him! Yet, he still was able to activate his protective domain!

Phuture trailed out her thoughts and spoke out loud. "How?"

"Nuh uh." The Hoodied Demon said. "I can't tell all my secrets, Divine Goddess. Just know that you can't kill me…it doesn't matter how strong you monkey people are!"

Phuture scoffed and suddenly appeared right at his eyes, her nervousness and insecurities consumed by her limits of disrespect. She elusively blitzed forward for the demon at light speed, jabbing her arm straight forward for a close range punch. Her punched knocked the demon's head off, but she jumped alarmingly startled when she was grabbed by the arm.

"I'm sorry." Phuture exhaled when she realized it was Harriet, the ladies watched the demon's body come splashing down as blood. "A blood clone."

"Yeah, I'm starting to think he fought against Hayze with a blood clone too." Harriet closed her eyes and inhaled smoothly, she concentrated on her breathing for a moment. "Phuture, have you ever heard of The Shrine?"
