Chapter 2 - The CEO's signature

Hana shoved the envelope back across the table. "You're crazy. Who asks a stranger to marry their brother?"

The girl only leaned closer, lips curved in a sly smile. "Someone who knows what you want. A dream job at Ibiza. Security. Freedom."

Hana shot to her feet, clutching her bag. "Forget it. I'm not signing anything."

"Suit yourself." The girl slid a sleek black card into Hana's palm before she could refuse. "Show this at reception. You'll need it."

Hana glanced down at the card, embossed in silver: Jung Eunha.

By the time she looked up, the girl was gone.

Upstairs.

"Big brother!" Eunha burst into the CEO's office, ignoring the startled staff.

Kai Seok didn't look up from his papers. "Not now, Eunha."

"You're thirty and still single," she said crisply, dropping the contract onto his desk. "Mother is ready to cut you off. Sign this."

"No."

"You'll lose everything if you don't."

"Good."

Eunha narrowed her eyes. "Then I'll tell Mother you refused to marry the girl I picked for you."

That made him pause. "What girl?"

"She's beautiful. Talented. Exactly what you need." Eunha's smile was all innocence.

Kai gave her a flat stare. "There's a catch."

"No catch," she lied. "Just six months. You keep the inheritance. She keeps her dignity. Everyone wins."

With a frustrated sigh, Kai grabbed his pen and scrawled his signature across the pages. "Happy now?"

Eunha's grin widened. "Ecstatic."

Downstairs, Hana still sat in the marble lounge, clutching the black card.

She didn't know her life had already been rewritten upstairs—with one careless stroke of a pen.

And the man holding the other half of that contract was the last person she ever wanted to see again.
