Chapter 25 - Freezing me out

Knox's POV

I sat in my study, drink in hand. My brothers were blocking my mind links and avoiding me.

I sighed deeply, tormented by my thoughts, running my hands through my hair.

Havoc had been sulking too, refusing to talk to me since Kane and I left fathers office.

The image of Callie's face flicked through my mind. I'd only seen her once, the day we found her. But that face, it was engraved in my memory, the way her eyes glistened, her long red hair fell over her shoulders in delicate waves.

I could feel the tug of the mate bond, urging me to go to her. It effected my mind, body and soul.

I tired brushing the thought of her out of my mind, taking another sip of liquor.

I knew the moon goddess had a plan, I knew what my family expected me to do, I knew what my own wolf wanted. But me? I was conflicted. Unable to get past the suspicion around Callie coming to this pack. The timings was too coincidental. I was skeptic. My body definitely wanted her, my rock hard member throbbing in my pants just at the thought of Callie was a stark reminder.

Perhaps it was easier to just give into the mate bond, and deal with any future problems as they came.

There was a knock at my door, too light to be my brothers and all housekeepers had been told to stay away from my quarters.

I didnt repsond, hoping whoever it was would go away.

They didn't, another knock, louder this time, tapped on the door.

I growled, standing and stepping towards the door. I grasped the handle swinging it open, a frown plastered over my face.

"What?!" I bit out sharply.

It was Jaz, he jumped slightly but recovered quickly, a sickly sweet smile spread over her face.

I rolled my eyes and returned to my desk, sitting down and picking the glass back up.

She closed the door gently, and turned to me, her face held somthing I couldn't place.. sympathy maybe.

Whatever it was I knew it was fake.

Jaz didn't care about me, I, like Kane and Alfie, were simply pawns in her charade to get Jax.

She'd always followed him round like a desperate shadow, we'd told Jax somthing was up with her but he wouldn't have it, he truly believed and wanted her to be his mate. He spent months in a depressive and angry state when he learnt she wasn't. Our alpha training was the perfect distraction for him.

" Knox, I..I came to check on you" she said softly.

Ugh!

"I'm fine, you can go now." I said, unbothered by her attempt at befriending me.

"Oh that's good, I .. I just didn't know how you'd take.. the news." She said calmly, sympathy plastered over her smugness.

I've always been able to read Jaz like a book.

She craved attention but mostly harmless.

"What news?" I said impatiently.

"Well it's not really news, more like.. pack gossip." She interjected.

Get on with it!

" Alfie and Callie were seen together at the club last night... in a compromising position." My fists clenched at her words, my body going stiff.

"Jax was there too, apparently they shared her before taking her out the club somewhere."

Jaz continued, faking concern.

Havoc growled "mine!"

Anger boiled in me -"you can go now!" I said through gritted teeth.

I stood, pacing back and forth, a futile attempt at calming the beast in me.

Was this it? Was this what jealousy felt like.

Callie was OUR mate, we were meant to share her equally loving her and her loving us.

But here they were, enjoying each other with me.. or Kane.

I mindlinked Levi-"We're my brothers at the club last night with Callie?" My question thundered.

Levi responded instantly -"she was working, they came and left with her alpha Knox." He rushed out in a panic.

I didn't bother replying and shut the mindlink.

So it was true.

I left my office, slamming the door shut behind me. I quickened my pace as I walked through the pack house to Alfie's bedroom.

His scent was weak, he didn't sleep here last night.

I turned around, headed to Jax's room. When I got to the corridor his room was situated in, I sensed it instantly.

Jax's scent, tangled with Alfie's and somthing else… cherry and vanilla.

A growl escaped my chest. Havoc was pushing forward. I got to the door and kicked it open.

What I saw broke me, my anger wavering a second before I recovered.

Fists clenched either side, my eyes darted between them. Alfie-Callie-Jax.

They were sat in bed sharing breakfast. Callie's hair was in a messy bun, a few copper ringlets framed her flushed face. She was wearing one of Jax's T-shirts. It's was way to big for her, falling off her shoulder, exposing her milky skin.

She gasped, the look of surprised quickly replaced with anger.

Jax was the first to stand.

"What are you doing here?" He barked.

"I came to see if it was true, that you've been fucking our mate!" I shot back.

Somthing flashed in Jax's eyes. Alfie stood, squaring up to me.

"And? What's. It. To. You." He gritted out, an unnerving calmness in his tone.

"She belongs to all of us, she's not yours to gatekeep and hide away!" I shouted, I was loosing control over Havoc. Fury bubbled under the surface.

"You didn't feel that was when you put your cock in some sluts mouth!" Jax shouted.

Before I could process the words that stung me deeply, my fist connected with Jax's face.

I could hear Callie's cry's in the background.

Alfie rushed me, tackling me to the floor. His hands gripped my throat, cutting the air off from my lungs.

We struggled, Jax shouted at Alfie to stop, trying to pull him from me. Alfie's wolf was at the front now, his eyes dark.

My vision began to blacken, my grip on his arms loosened.

Then- "ENOUGH!" Callie growled. Alfie froze.

In my semi unconscious state I noted he'd bowed his head slightly.

Why did he bow? Only alphas could make other bow.
