Project Helix was basically a project to build a universal predictive security system.
The plan was to get the top companies who could deliver both innovation and infrastructure. And from what Sasha had been hearing, Kyro industries and Stone ltd where the only company capable of doing that.
But looking at how one-sided the presentation felt from both side, she didn't think she had made the right choice.
''Stop!'' Sasha shumpert—The foreign investor finally shouted, startling both Harmonica and Lucas who were already having a full blown eye and mouth contest.
''I can't take this anymore. The deal is off.'' She said, picking up her purse and signaling for her assistant to lead the way.
''No. please.'' Harmonica quickly said, stopping her. If she didn't sign this deal with Mrs Shumpert, there would be lots of cracks in her corporate circle and her shareholders would start doubting her expertise.
''You can call me later when you both are ready to actually sign this deal.'' Sasha said, staring at them in disappointment before leaving the room.
The boardroom went silent. I mean…it had been silent since the banters between Harmonica and Lucas.
Harmonica stared at Lucas annoyedly before picking up her bag and heading for the door.
''Harmonica..'' Lucas called out, taking long strides as he reached for her.
''Fuck off!'' Harmonica shouted before leaving stone ltd in anger. Even her assistant couldn't afford to question her.
Not when she was in a bad mood.
Harmonica dialed Beth's number and pressed the phone to her ear, waiting for it to connect.
''Hey babe!'' Beth's cheerful voice bloomed from the other end of the phone.
''Hey boo. I think I need a drink.'' Harmonica said, jerking her head away from the phone as if expecting what is to come next.
As she expected, Beth's shrill scream rang through the car startling both cici and the driver.
Beth was actually still jet lagged but it was very rare that Harmoica offered to go have drinks. So she couldn't say no to that.
''You'll be the death of me.'' Harmonica laughed as she hung up, bidding goodbye to her assistant who had dropped off at a subway.
Her phone pinged and she saw that Beth had sent the address to the hotel she was staying in.
She quickly gave the driver the name of the hotel and they headed there to go pick Beth.
After picking her up, they headed straight for DeLuca, heading inside after a small glance from the bouncers.
Beth who had been talking non-stop throughout the ride pushed past people and headed straight for the bar section for a drink.
''Two bourbon please. Neat.'' She said, staring at Hormonica who was now sitted at a bar stool beside her while staring around.
The last time she was at this club was five years ago when she came with Drey. Then, he was her free pass to getting into the club.
Now, she could go in and out without any resistance.
''You know what?'' Beth asked, her alcoholic breath already fanning against harmonica's shoulders, bringing the latter out of her reverie.
''What?'' Harmonica asked uninterestedly as she sipped her drink.
She tried to tell herself that she was here to get her mind off her failure in acquiring the business deal. But somehow, she knew it was because of the effect Lucas had on her.
''That nigga has been staring at you. I think you should go say hi.'' Beth said, and Harmonica followed her hand gestures as it landed on…

What the hell was he doing here?!
And why was he staring at her like she was some kind of food?
''Are you gonna..?'' Beth trailed as she watched Harmoica take off her jacket.
Her smooth shoulders came in display and her perky boobs were visibly open and alluring to the covetious eyes.
Licking her lips seductively, Harmonica headed in Lucas's direction with slow strides. As she got to his table, she stretched her hands forward.
''Do you mind dancing with me?'' She asked, her hand still out to the handsome stranger that sat beside Lucas.
Simon nodded, taking her hands. He had never had such an alluring woman offer to dance with him.
Harmonica smiled as she headed for the dance floor. She looked at Beth who was giving her signs that she had picked the wrong guy but she ignored her, wrapping her hands around the stranger's neck as they danced.
She really didn't know what came over her.
The club was playing a hip hop music but she was wrapped in a stranger's arm dancing slowly because she wanted and expected her actions to bother Lucas.
To elicit some kind of reaction from him.
But instead, there was none. He just kept pouring alcohol into his cup and drinking.
He was also not staring at her anymore.
She stopped dancing and let go of the stranger, an apologetic smile on her face. ''I guess we should call it a night.''
''Oh…I understand. I'm Simon by the way.'' He said, letting go of her waist.
''Harmonica.'' She replied briefly, before turning away.
Before he could reach into his pants pocket and hand over his business card to her, she was already gone.
Simon walked away from the dance floor with mixed feelings.
Meanwhile, Harmonica quickly grabbed Beth who was now grinding her ass against the bar tender's dick. She was drunk as fuck and just kept spewing gibberish.
''We need to go Beth.'' Harmonica said, grabbing her despite her resistance.
With the help of the bar tender, she was able to get Beth to follow her out of deluca.
At the entrance, her driver was already packed out front awaiting their arrival.
With his help, Harmonica got Beth into the back seat. Before she could hop into the front seat herself, her hand was pulled forcefully and she crashed into a very hard surface.
Harmonica winced as she stared up to see Lucas staring down at her. They were insanely close and Harmonica didn't know if it was the alcohol or just her hormones that wanted to be all up in his space and kiss those sexy lips that reeked of alcohol.
She shook her head disapprovingly. It had to be the alcohol!
She heard Lucas whisper something and she tiptoed, putting her ear towards his mouth to hear him clearly.
''What did you say?'' She asked, shivers running down her spine as she anticipated his next words.
''Cover up. You look like a slut.''
