Chapter 16 - Ending Up In Her Bed

It was Lucas! AGAIN!

He was sprawled in front of her door, reeking of alcohol.

His private investigator must be really good to know where she lived. At this point, they might actually find her son.

She quickly pulled out her phone and called Romano to come pick up Zade.

She crouched down to Zade's level, smoothening the angry lines that had marred the little man's forehead.

''You said we were going to have ice cream tonight.'' Zade grumbled, staring at Lucas in anger for ruining his night.

Ever since they came to New York, Harmonica had barely spent time with him.

Just the day they were planning on spending time together and this homeless uncle had to ruin it.

He mentally facepalmed.

Harmonica chuckled at his expression. ''Don't worry baby. I'll definitely spend a lotttt of time with you tomorrow.'' She said, kissing his chubby cheeks.

''Are you sure?'' Zade asked, ignoring her kisses as he stretched his pinky finger towards instead.

''Pinky promise?'' He asked again with pouty lips and Harmonica cursed at Lucas for putting her in this position.

She nodded with a smile and took him back to the elevator to wait for Romano.

''Is something wrong?'' Romano asked worriedly.

Just minutes ago, she was so excited about spending time with Zade. Now…

''Something urgent came up.'' Harmonica replied, scratching the back of her head as she handed zade and the ice cream to Romano who nodded his head despite having caught a glace of the figure that still layed outside Harmonica's unit.

''Zade..'' Romano started immediately the elevator door closed. ''Is your mummy expecting someone?'' He asked curiously as he crouched down to the boy's level.

''No. she's just helping out a homeless man.'' Zade answered, his big eyes staring at Romano cluelessly.

Romano: (—)

Meanwhile Harmonica was now cursing inwardly as she held unto Lucas clothes tightly, pulling him inside with all her strength.

If even one picture of him mistakenly gets out, she was going to wake up to a bunch of paparazzi at her doorstep.

She shivered, brushing the thought aside.

Locking her door, she headed for the couch, deciding it was best to leave Lucas on the floor.

What was he thinking coming to her place anyways?!

With a sigh, she turned on the TV and started laughing while munching on some chips, ignoring how Lucas shivered from how cold the floor was.

Her phone rang and she pressed the phone to her ear.

It was Beth.

''I'm on my way to your place.'' Beth said cheerfully. Harmonica could hear the sound of cars horning from the other end. She was really heading to her place.

''Wait what? I'm not ho—'' Harmonica's words were cut short as Beth hung up the phone.

Harmonica quickly panicked. She headed straight for Lucas, pulling both his legs as she tried to take him to her room.

Unfortunately, he was too heavy and she could barely get him halfway to her room.

Desperate, she reached for a bottle of water and splashed it on Lucas, making the latter jump in shock.

He shivered, still not aware of his surroundings.

''Get up.'' Harmonica yelled and to her surprise, he actually stood up like an obedient puppy and clinged unto her.

He was so heavy that Harmonica kept stumbling as she headed for her room.

Missing a step, she stumbled and fell on the bed while Lucas fell Untop of her.

She winced as his body collided with hers, making it hard for her to breathe.

She tried pushing him away but he wouldn't budge. Defeated, she let him be.

Minutes later, the sound of her doorbell resonated the whole house.

And again.

And again.

Then her phone buzzed with an incoming call from Beth.

''Babe I'm at your door. Did you sleep already?'' Beth asked, stressed. It was prettyyyy late and her ass was so tired of being on the car seat for too long.

''That is actually what I was trying to tell you.'' Harmonica started, feeling bad. It was already so late. Where would Beth stay?

''I'm not home.'' She lied, guilt washing over her.

Lucas always had to ruin everything. She put all the blame on his instead.

Beth gasped. ''I'll just find someplace to stay'' she said before hanging up the call, her sad voice fueling Harmonica's guilt.

(NEXT MORNING)

Lucas woke up, his head pounding incessantly. He looked down and he almost screamed as he noticed he was Untop of Harmonica.

What was Harmonica doing at his place?

He stood up from her and examined his surrounding. He really wasn't at his place.

With the papers on the wall and plushy sheets, Lucas could already tell that he was at Harmonica's apartment.

Even though she was now a bit cold, she had not changed even a bit.

Smiling, he made his way to the kitchen, fishing for items to cook for Harmonica.

Meanwhile….Harmonica woke up with body pain.

Her hand most especially still hurt from Lucas resting on it throughout the night.

She stretched, checking to her side to see that the bed was empty.

'Had Lucas really left?' She thought, sighing happily.

She got up from the bed and went into the shower to take a bath.

She had planned on opening a new branch for kyro industries here in New York City. Even though she planned on returning back to Amsterdam, she was going to hire an interim CEO in her stead.

She couldn't wait to go check out the location for her business. Her assistant cici had already picked 4 different locations and she wanted to review it fast so she could come home and be with Zade just like she had promised.

She stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around her chest.

As she opened the bathroom door, the first thing she saw was Lucas placing a tray filled with bacon, eggs, toasted bread and a cup of tea on the bed.

Immediately their eyes met, she screamed so loud, her towel dropped to the floor.
