Chapter 15 - Drowning His Pain

Lucas threw the glass vase against the wall and watched it shatter, anger surging through him as he remembered how unbothered Harmonica was by the action she took.

He reached for another glass, throwing it again.

And another and another, planning to keep doing so until he was satisfied.

Unluckily, he wasn't. And he had no more glass to throw again.

He opened the door angrily, coming face to face with a worried Rita who had been pounding on the door mercilessly ever since she heard the third glass shatter.

''What the hell is wrong with you?!'' She shouted, staring at him angrily.

She had been putting up with this irritating character for the longest and she was tired! She had officially become a laughing stock in front of the media and her friends because Lucas refused to marry her after 5 years of handing her a ring.

To top it all, he had made them stay in separate rooms without even asking her how she felt about it.

''Can you just s—''

Lucas grabbed a fistful of her hair, interrupting her.

Rita winced as he tilted her head up, making sure she was staring directly at him.

''What is wrong with me?'' He questioned dangerously, pulling at her hair again and Rita let out a low cry as pain shot through her skull.

''How about the CCTV footage you sent to me?'' He asked again and Rita's eyes widened in shock as she stared at him.

Had he known she was the one that sent it all along?

She tried her best to push him away from her but he was having none of it. Instead, he tightened his grip on her hair more.

''It's all your fault that I lost my wife and the baby'' He blamed, letting go of Rita who hit the floor with a loud thud, a silent cry escaping her lips.

Groaning, Lucas picked up his phone and left his mansion still seething.

The only thing that could drown his anger and pain was alcohol.

He needed a drink.

Meanwhile…Rita was still on the floor crying. She didn't know why Lucas was bringing up Harmonica again.

Harmonica this. Harmonica that.

Harmonica was gone!

She picked one of the pillows that was scattered around the floor and yelled into it. After that, she picked up one of the broken glass and stabbed the pillow countless times like a maniac.

(CLUB ZERO)

Lucas walked in with a solemn expression, hollering at his friends who sat at the VIP section, staring at him weirdly.

''That is Lucas right?'' Jake questioned, looking between Simon and Mark.

Ever since Lucas had an argument with Mark, he had rarely come to any of their gatherings. Especially not when Mark was involved.

Even after Lucas had texted him that he was going to be coming for a drink, he still didn't believe it.

Jake, Lucas, Simon and Mark had been best of friends since they were young.

Jake owned Club Zero, Lucas owned Stone ltd, Mark owned his late father's properties and Simon was the co-owner of a hospital.

They were all doing well for themselves and could only get together once or twice a week.

''I should leave.'' Mark said, getting up from his seat. He pulled on his jacket, leaving when Lucas reached to stop him.

He had already ordered some drinks and was already in the VIP room when he saw Mark leaving.

''I'm sorry for what happened. Please stay.'' Lucas said, holding Mark's shoulders.

The other two stared at each other in shock. Then shrugged.

Lucas hardly apologized. 'Sorry' was like a forbidden word to him.

Even Mark stared at him in shock. ''The fuck is wrong with you man?''

''I just want to get drunk.'' Lucas uttered, laughing lightly.

They all sat down and sipped their drinks while Lucas kept drinking and drinking even after he was denied any more drinks.

''I'm going to ss—sue you for this'' He slurred, pointing at Jake who laughed at his remarks.

''Someone take him home.'' Mark said, he was equally drunk and planned on sleeping over at the club.

Even Jake was busy running the club so he couldn't do so. The heavy burden naturally fell on Simon.

''Fine!'' He sighed, dragging Lucas with him as he took him to his car.

He placed him in the front seat with a lot of effort before heading for the driver's seat.

''Take me here.'' Lucas said, showing Mark an address on his phone.

Mark nodded before stepping on the brakes. He didn't know why he was answering a drunk man. For all he knew, Lucas could be making him drive the whole of New York tonight.

Anyways…

He came to a screeching stop at the address Lucas gave him.

''We are here.'' He said, tapping on the drunkard who was already snoring loudly.

Lucas jerked forward, nodding his head before getting off the car. ''You don't need to see me off.'' He slurred, waving at Simon's car dismissively.

''I wasn't going to.'' Simon uttered but waited anyways till he saw Lucas successfully entered the penthouse.

Once Lucas got in, he headed for the elevator.

He pressed on any button, his eyes blurry as he stepped into the elevator when it opened.

The elevator dinged open and he got out again, looking for Room 102.

After what felt like hours but was only minutes, Lucas banged hard on the door of Room 102, murmuring incoherent words as he did so.

Meanwhile….Harmonica held Zade's tiny hand as they walked out of the elevator holding shopping bags in hands.

They had just gone out for some groceries and was planning on having an Ice cream party tonight.

As they got closer to her unit, Zade's eyes caught the figure of a person lying unmoving in front of his mother's unit.

''Mom. Who is that?'' He asked, pointing at the person and Harmonica also noticed the figure.

She quickly hid her son behind her, tiptoeing towards her door in a fighting stance.

When she got closer, her eyes widened as she took in the horrendous sight.
