Chapter 22. Underworld Combo Walkthrough 1! Repeated Revival to Clear Boards and Grind Resources!
Yes!
Duelists across six worlds all realized there's a truly disgusting combo.
And this combo—Eldlich the Golden Lord plus a few Spell/Trap cards—is already more than enough on its own.
The video creator "I'll be an Eldlich Master" immediately began the explanation.
I'll be an Eldlich Master: "Anyone who's played Eldlich knows exactly how valuable this monster card is."
I'll be an Eldlich Master: "Simply put, this card loops repeated revival to clear boards and grind resources."
I'll be an Eldlich Master: "Why do I say that? Follow me and savor the details."
"First, its first effect—clear the board—no problem there."
"The key is its second effect: after you add it back, you can Special Summon a Zombie from your hand; that monster gains 1000 ATK/DEF and cannot be destroyed by card effects until the end of your opponent's turn."
"So, Eldlich the Golden Lord is a Zombie itself, and nothing says it can't Special Summon itself, right?"
"Therefore, use Eldlich's first effect to clear the board, then follow up with the second effect."
"In one go!"
"You'll be sitting on a 3500/3800 Eldlich the Golden Lord with protection from effect destruction until your opponent's turn ends."
...
Silence.
A deathly silence.
On Yusei Fudo's side—he hadn't understood the Eldlich deck before.
In that instant, even he figured out just how nasty this card really is.
Across the other six worlds—
In the ZEXAL world—
Yuma Tsukumo snapped to attention, eyes wide, face full of disbelief.
Whoa!
It's true!
This card really can keep looping the first and second effects.
What if the opponent removes it and sends it to the Graveyard?
No problem.
On your turn, you add it back and keep using the second effect.
If that still isn't enough, pair it with other Zombies.
Let Eldlich clear the board with its first effect.
"What a powerful standalone card."
"The quality is maxed out."
"The key—both effects are once per turn. Sick."
Even Tori Meadows—no veteran duelist—understood how important this card is after seeing the quality of this single piece.
"So that's why there are so many Traps."
"I see."
"After all, this card relies on using Spells/Traps to function."
Bronk Stone stroked his chin, deep in thought.
At this moment, he had to change his view of the Eldlich strategy.
Perhaps a deck full of Traps… isn't bad.
...
In the ARC-V world—
The person who best understood why you'd run that many Traps was Gong Strong.
"Hahaha! Told you so!"
"This strategy isn't simple, is it?"
"When I built Superheavy Samurai with tons of monsters, you mocked me for not running any Spell/Trap!"
"Now do you get it? Not only are there monster-heavy decks like mine, there are also Trap-heavy decks!"
Gong Strong's words rolled out one after another.
Thinking back to when his Superheavy Samurai was misunderstood, he really felt the Eldlich pain.
But what he didn't realize is—Golden Land is actually meant to be played that way, while Superheavy Samurai self-restricts and can't run Spells/Traps.
"Alright, alright."
"Enough already."
"Look how worked up you are."
"That's just one card so far, and there are more combos to cover!"
Zuzu Boyle pouted at Gong Strong.
And that's exactly the point.
How could the Eldlich strategy run only Eldlich by itself?
You obviously add other Zombies, too.
...…
I'll be an Eldlich Master: "With that covered, next is who gets the other monster slots."
I'll be an Eldlich Master: "If you want to go even more underworld, add Lava Golem—Tribute away the opponent's ace to clear the board, and it burns them for 1000 during their Standby Phase."
"With 3000 ATK it can swing over your Eldlich, but with Eldlich's boosted ATK/DEF, you can stonewall it—either way, you don't lose out."
"The sour, nasty satisfaction—you'll only know it when you use it."
"If you want disruption, add Doomking Balerdroch, 2800/2000."
"Effect 1: During the Standby Phase, if a face-up card is in a Field Zone and this card is in your GY, you can Special Summon it in Defense Position."
"Effect 2 (once per Chain): when a Zombie monster's effect—other than Balerdroch—activates, choose one: negate that effect, or banish 1 monster from the field or a Graveyard."
"Undying revival, and with Eldlich you can even dig the Grave; then slap down the Field Spell Zombie World so both sides' monsters become Zombies—everything clicks."
"You'll be so thrilled you'll go numb, got it?"
"So thrilled you'll go numb?"
"What does that even mean?"
Duelists across the six worlds were dumbfounded listening to the creator's rapid-fire rundown.
Wait!
How is any of this 'thrilling'? What's thrilling? Why?
In the Duel Monsters world—
Bonz, a master of Zombie strategies, wore a look of terror and excitement.
Yes.
Yes.
Exactly like that—this Eldlich strategy fits him to a tee.
"Hahaha! Don't you get it yet?"
"Think about it!"
"The Field Spell Zombie World turns all face-up monsters on the field and all monsters in the Graveyards into Zombies, and neither player can Tribute Summon except Zombies."
"Once the opponent's deck is another Type, one Field Spell and they're in pain, right?"
"Then, pair that with Doomking Balerdroch and the Field."
"You get Standby-phase revivals every turn, and you unlock the negate/banish choice whenever a Zombie effect goes on Chain."
"It's truly thrilling. Too thrilling."
Thanks to Bonz's explanation, everyone in the Duel Monsters world finally understood how absurd and nasty this combo is.
Wait!
You can play it like that too?!
If the opponent's monsters aren't Zombies, normally Doomking Balerdroch can't trigger on them.
But once Zombie World hits the field, the opponent's monsters become Zombies.
Then Doomking Balerdroch can negate.
Then Doomking Balerdroch can revive.
Combining it with Eldlich the Golden Lord—this deck is nasty to the point of numbness.
