[Do you wish to learn more?] Y/N — Please select an option. > Y [Welcome, User: Saito Yoshihiro] [Initializing Probability Sync...] [Your fate is now bound by chance.] Saito Yoshihiro was just another nobody in a world where heroes are ranked, sponsored, and carefully trained from birth. Born without any elemental affinity, combat skill, or physical advantage. He was expected to live out his life quietly while supporting the other heroes. But when a dead System suddenly awakens inside him, he's granted the power to twist luck itself. Critical hits become inevitable. Death traps become jackpots. The worse the odds, the stronger he becomes. Those left in the world with a system would be seen as unique or a problem depending on what they have since the government has placed a ban on systems. They even found a way to nullify the awakenings of them. But what else lurks in the shadows of this world driven by heroes? Cover by: DarkZ2

Chapter 1 - Lucky Start

Boooom!!! Booooom!!!!! The sounds of something blowing up are all that I can hear outside lately. The building shakes a bit as I take a few steps across my apartment to get ready for work.

For the people without powers, this is just how life is. I have to get up and get ready for work everyday like a normal person.

The city of Zentara is filled with heroes who protect us from criminals, potential world ending threats, and even some villains from time to time.

Personally I don't really care enough about it to pay attention. It's always on the TV but I'd rather just keep pushing through the day.

I looked in the mirror at my grey suit, white undershirt, and black tie that I just finished adjusting. My short black hair was messy like always but it didn't really make a difference whether I left it that way or not.

The bags under my light blue eyes were always there and honestly it made me look older than I actually am.

Honestly I hate dressing like this all the time but my job requires it. I'm 20 years old and I haven't done a damn thing with my life since I graduated high school.

Got an office job making phone calls and organizing spreadsheets every single day, what a life.

After making sure I have everything I need, I left for work. Observing the distant explosions as I make my way through the park.

"Cherry Park." A place where most people walk through to get to the business district of the city where people like me work. You can see the other miserable people sitting around sometimes.

I guess I'm just as miserable as them at the end of the day so who am I to notice anything like that. I'm sure my parents are real proud of me for working a stupid office job and skipping out on college.

My brother is probably out there doing something worthwhile at least. I'm sure that makes them happy and proud enough the way it is.

CRASH!!!!! A piece of rubble immediately crashed right in front of me, almost crushing me. Of course I stumbled back a bit and fell onto the ground.

"Holy shit... Did I just almost die?" I ask softly with a bit of panic while gripping my chest.

A few more pieces of rubble crashed into the park around me before I finally have the courage to stand back up again. After that I needed to sit down for a few moments, I didn't do well with these types of things.

Anybody who says they are perfectly fine after avoiding death like that is a liar. I honestly could never see myself just ignoring this, why would anybody... No, why me?

One of the many problems of being a normal person, you can't avoid death as easily as the heroes. We have a chance to die every single day.

I took a few breaths in and out as I sat on the bench, usually I'd sit here after work but today was different.

[Ding!] [Ultimate Luck System Unlocked!]

"What? Did someone just say something?" I question while looking around.

Nobody was in the park around me so it was obvious that I was just experiencing shock. Yes, shock.

I heard a ding and then some sort of voice so obviously I'm just imagining things because of the situation at hand. That was until I saw a little menu screen appear before me.

~Quite the stats you have here. ^•^ Are you just going to ignore me? You don't have to speak out loud either, just think of your response.

Forgive me... I'm just a little confused right now. What is this that I'm seeing before me?

~Ohhhh. I understand now! <( ̄︶ ̄)> You are completely new to systems! Well, I apologize for not realizing this sooner. This is a system user interface that only you can see and is only the stat window.

There's more to this? Also system??? I thought the government made it impossible for anyone to awaken a system anymore... This doesn't make any sense to me.

~Systems are considered to be dead but luckily I wasn't even active in your body ᕙ(  • ‿ •  )ᕗ. I was technically considered dead until you encountered a life or death scenario.

~A Lucky start to the day, I'd say! ^^

You are quite the expressive system. I don't understand any of this right now but I'm sure you'll explain everything more as I calm down.

This luck system sounds interesting and if it can help me get away from the normal life I live... I'm in.

But I still will not ever be a hero, I'm not really into the whole hero crap. They just want people that look good who can give them more money and business.

All those damn corporations...

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted when I noticed that the rubble was being taken out of the park in the blink of an eye. Then a few seconds later I found myself staring at a woman with long curly blonde hair, green eyes, wearing a full white body suit with traces of gold, blue, and black.

She also has a cape.

"Hey, are you okay?" She asks with a concerned look on her face.

"Y-Yeah. Just didn't expect to see a hero in person." I respond with a bit of shock in my voice.

I didn't know a lot of heroes since I hardly paid attention...but, everyone knows Celeste Flux. She's a high ranking hero amongst all the hero commissions in the city and is considered to be one of the strongest heroes.

Ranked at #3 on the leaderboards for heroes.

"I always make it my goal to check on people, especially when they are almost crushed by debris. I'm glad you're okay though." Celeste says with a smile on her face.
