Chapter 11 - The Garden

I spent days at the palace being forced to read historic books and being taught on my role as a Queen. The guards and maids followed me everywhere I went, The only time I had privacy was when I was in my chamber.

It had been days and Chris had not yet returned. Alex too was no where to be seen. The last day I saw him being the day he brought me to the palace then he disappeared.

"Does the King usually disappear like this?" I asked Maddy when she was helping me put on my gown, "The King is rarely at the palace, but am sure he will be back soon." She said forcing a smile.

What kind of man leaves his wife after the wedding?

Maybe this was a good thing, now I could focus on ways to carry out my plan. Till now I did not really understand what my father meant by "the gem in his position meant to make him strong "..I've heard of those rumours but I long thought it was made up.

All this thinking was giving me a headache, I decided to go to the gardens to distract myself from the boredom.

The garden was a serene oasis, teeming with life and vibrant colors.

A tranquil pond reflected the sky's cerulean hue, its surface adorned with delicate water lilies. The sound of chirping birds and softly rustling leaves created a soothing melody that seemed to lull the world into a peaceful slumber.

The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming lavender and the gentle hum of bees as they flitted from petal to petal.

Lush greenery enveloped the winding paths, which meandered through a kaleidoscope of flowers – roses, lilies, sunflowers, daisies and wolf's bane..Wolfsbane? It was known to be toxic to human beings, why would they have it? Ingesting it would send you to your deathbed..Then a thought crossed my mind, maybe this was the answer I was looking for.

"And what is keeping the beautiful Queen so distracted?"
