Chapter 6 - Reborn

After the star gained a physical body, he ceased his magic and approached her still form, placing his fingers near her nose and confirming she was indeed dead.

She stood with her head tilted to the left as his beam of magic surrounding her kept her suspended before him. Her eyes were shut, so still they could be mistaken for sleep. He noticed the multiple horrific scars and open wounds covering her body and couldn't stop this aching feeling from resonating in him at the sight of them.

He slowly reached out to lightly touch the scars that marred her face. He brought his hands close to himself and stared at the blood that marked his fingers.

They were still fresh, which meant she had received them not long ago.

The torn wedding attire she had on confused him the most. He didn't want to believe that monster dared do this to her on her wedding day.

Also, she was getting married and never once informed him about this?

Did she think he still would refuse coming to the God Realm to celebrate this special day with her?

Especially when it would be the day she would be the most happy because she had always wanted to be that bride to Cangmo.

The Lonely God tried to wrap his head around what might have happened to her. Who could be that daring and capable enough to murder a God and not just any God, the supreme one?

Soon, Yaoqin manifested beside his master again and told him all he had gathered from visiting the God realm.

''Master, the gates of the God realm have been completely destroyed, and no trace of the gods remains. The God Realm has fallen and no longer exist.''

A slight frown formed on his forehead as he heard the news. His eyes never left her form as he came close, his hands lightly touching her shoulders as he couldn't imagine the horror she must have faced alone to have what she loved most in the world destroyed before taking her last breath.

Questions demanding answers began to swirl in him and he blamed himself for refusing to go with her to the God Realm at the last minute. She was so angry—no, mad and swore she would never see him again.

The look of betrayal she gave him the last time they saw each other still haunted his dreams and he sometimes felt he deserved the title of the Lonely bitter God. He trusted that Cangmo would take good care of her and give her all the happiness she deserved.

He didn't believe it when he heard that their Cangmo left her in the God Realm to become a demon with an established Demon realm.

The day he rushed over to the God Realm to check on how she was faring with the news, she sent him away and reminded him that she never wanted to see or have anything to do with them again.

She was now a God, a supreme one. Her dream has been fulfilled, and the last thing she needed was to confront his reasons for deciding the last moments that he was not coming with them to the God Realm or that Cangmo, the love of her life degenerated into a demon. The new Anti–God of the celestial space.

''Is there any sign left of what might have happened?''

Yaoqin thought about it before slowly shaking his head. ''I will go and investigate more on what happened, Master.'' The divine beast transformed to his glorious form of a flaming, red phoenix bird and flew away to investigate.

There were a lot of things he could accept happening in his life.

Like being framed for murder in your sect and cast away to suffer as an outcast and trying to fit in among the other immortal sects.

But..losing her like this to death was unacceptable.

His unique God power of Yin and Yang, life and death resonated in and around him. He didn't think it through before recklessly drawing out all his yang energy and essence and using it to bring her back from the dead, disrupting the balance of his powers and drawing a possible hefty backlash from the Celestial space on him.

The more Yang he released to give her life, the more a mysterious marking began to appear unknowingly at his nape.

The price for bringing a God back from the dead.

Her hands slowly moved up like a cross as she was bathed heavily with life, receiving it and letting every bit flow through her veins and wake up every sleeping or dead cell in her body.

Sooner, the girl gasped back to life, her eyes wide open and mouth apart as the gaping wound in her chest and the multiple scars and markings on her face and body began to heal.

He gave her more of it to make sure every broken bone and torn veins were fixed, bringing her further and further away from the cold arms of death.

Gods live eternally, and if they die, they are deemed unworthy of reincarnation or a second chance at life.

She was the first God to break that sovereign rule.

Yuerong collapsed on her knees and held on to her chest tight as the pain of being pierced with his spear lingered and she found it hard to breathe.

He could erase her wounds but not the pain.

He quickly fell beside her to make sure she was alright. Tears of pain welled in her eyes as she fought to breathe. The Lonely God didn't hesitate to transfer power to her in order to make her feel better.

While he was doing so, and while she was feeling better to have his powers cool her down she turned to look at him for the first time since her death.

Her eyes moved back and forth as he regarded her with sincerity and deep regrets.

''Don't worry, you are safe now. You are going to be alright, I won't let anything bad happen to you again,'' he assured, drawing closer. The look he gave her was a strange familiarity, as though they had known each other before.

She tried to remember him, who he was in the blank state of her mind and failed.

''Who are you?'' She breathed out.

He paused from transferring powers to her as the love of his life had no idea of who he was to her.
