Chapter 9 - chapter 9_ She accpted

In the evening, Lucian arrived at Selena's house.

Mia heard the sound of a car outside and immediately went to inform Selena.

"I think your husband is outside," Mia teased.

Selena looked at her. "If you don't quit calling him that, I won't talk to you."

"Fine. Hurry up. He's outside," Mia said.

When Selena looked through the window, she saw Lucian standing beside his car.

"OMG, Mia, do you think I need to put on makeup? Or should I change into something else?"

Mia laughed.

"Selena, just go. You're fine. Go now. Don't keep him waiting."

"Mia, are you seriously laughing?" Selena asked.

Mia tried to hold back her laughter. "No, I'm not."

Selena stepped outside and walked toward him.

"Hi," she said shyly.

"So, what's up? You told me to come," Lucian said.

"Um... I wanted to let you know that..."

She stopped.

"What is it?" he asked.

"Um... about what you said. I accepted."

She lowered her head, too shy to look at him.

Lucian was surprised.

"Seriously?" he asked.

He reached toward her shoulder, but Selena became hesitant. He immediately stopped.

"I'm sorry," he said. "I wasn't expecting you to agree."

"But I'm going to stay at my house for now."

Lucian frowned. "Why?"

"Because my best friend just got back from the US, so she's going to be staying with me for now until she finally settles down."

"That's fine," Lucian said. "But we can go to the marriage registry this week."

"Yes," Selena answered.

Lucian was happy. He had to admit that he had started developing feelings for Selena.

"Selena, if you don't want this, just tell me. I don't want this marriage to feel like a deal between us, okay?"

"No, no. You're not forcing me."

"That's great." He smiled. "Then can I hug you?"

Selena froze. She suddenly became conscious of how she was dressed and felt embarrassed.

Lucian noticed her hesitation and immediately stepped back.

"It's fine. If you're not comfortable with something, just tell me," he said.

She smiled shyly. "Thank you."

"Then I'll get going," he said.

Selena waved goodbye.

Lucian turned around but stopped after a few steps.

"You can skip work tomorrow and spend some time with your friend."

"No, I will—"

"I'm your boss, so you have to listen," he interrupted with a small smile.

Selena sighed. "Fine. Thank you."

Lucian nodded before getting into his car and driving away.

Selena was happy because she could finally spend some time with Mia.

When she entered the house, she saw Mia standing there with a smile on her face.

"He is so handsome! Now, tell me what he said."

"Mia, stop talking," Selena said as she walked past her.

Mia quickly dragged her back. "Please, just tell me," she pleaded.

"Fine." Selena smiled and told her everything.

"Oh, he's so nice."

"Don't worry about me, Selena. I'll try not to get in the way of you and your prince charming," Mia teased.

"Mia, stop," Selena said, rolling her eyes.

"Okay, enough about Lucian. So, where do you want to go tomorrow?" Selena asked.

"Hmm, let me think. I would love to go on an ice cream date," Mia said.

"All right," Selena replied.

Meanwhile, when Lucian got home, Wendy saw him and ran to hug him.

"When did you get back?" he asked.

"A few minutes ago," Wendy replied.

"Brother, I passed my exam!" she told him excitedly.

"Congratulations," Lucian said.

"Thank you, brother."

Lucian was in a good mood.

"So, what do you want me to get you?"

"Hmm... I've been wanting to buy a bag, but it was sold out. I heard it's available in France," Wendy said.

"All right. Send me a picture. I'll send someone to get it for you."

Wendy hugged him.

"I love you!"

"All right. Weren't you supposed to go somewhere?" he asked.

"Yes, brother."

"All right, get going."

Wendy left, and Lucian was about to go upstairs when his grandpa saw him and called him back.

"Lucian."

Lucian turned around. His grandpa's face looked worried.

"Grandpa, what's wrong?" Lucian asked.

"Lucian, I gave a project to your uncle to handle, and I heard there's a problem with it."

"A project?" Lucian asked again.

"Yes. I didn't let you know about it before, but now something is wrong."

"Can you please take a look at it? The project cost a lot of money," his grandpa said.

"Okay. How much are we talking about?"

"One billion."

"What? Grandpa, how could you give him a project worth that much?"

"I just wanted him to be responsible for something."

Lucian sighed.

"Fine. I'll take a look at it."

He went upstairs and called Adrian.

"Hey, what's up?" Lucian spoke first.

"I'm good. What's going on?" Adrian replied.

"I want you to help me investigate a project. It has something to do with my company."

"No problem. Just send me the details."

"All right."

"So, what's up with this girl? How are things progressing?"

Lucian smiled when he knew Adrian was talking about Selena.

"She accepted."

"Wait a minute. Are you serious?" Adrian asked in surprise.

"Yeah," Lucian replied.

"So, what did you say to her?"

"Nothing."

Adrian laughed. "I think you really like her."

"Maybe I do."

"Then, bro, don't mess this one up," Adrian warned.

"I won't," Lucian said.

"When are you coming back to the country?" Lucian asked.

"I think about a week or so," Adrian answered.

The next morning, Mia and Selena got dressed and went to an ice cream shop.

When they got there, they happened to meet Mick.

When Mick saw them, he walked over to greet them.

"Hello, Selena."

Selena turned around and realized it was Mick.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" he asked.

"Oh, I came to get some ice cream," she replied.

Mia didn't want to talk to him, so she completely ignored him.

When Selena noticed, Mia had already started walking away. Selena was about to run after her when Mick stopped her.

"Selena, I forgot to get your number the other day."
