Chapter 34 - Clara Hafer

Lucas was sitting behind a long table with Leah and Francesco by his side.

They already talked to their legal team beforehand about contracts and such.

It was finally time to start the interviews.

Lucas waved to the assistant to open the door and let the security guards know to let the first applicant in.

Grishna was standing behind Lucas for safety just in case.

'I wonder if I will find someone with a talent or unique ability.'

The first awakened applicant walked inside.

It was a average looking woman in her 30s.

She looked very nervous and was surprised to see Grishna behind Lucas.

Lucas used Odin's Eye to check her stats and mana near her heart to figure out her emotions.

'Hm, nothing special and she is only level 4. But she doesn't have many negative emotions in her heart.'

After Leah and Francesco asked some questions they told her that she will receive a call if she got in.

The woman left and Leah said something to Lucas.

"You didn't say anything during the interview. Did you find nothing with your unique ability?"

"No, but she doesn't have many negative emotions. But I don't think she has what it takes to face monsters."

The important member of the guild knew about Lucas his ability to see people's stats and emotions, though not in great detail. It was the same for his talent, but they knew even less about that.

Leah answered.

"I see. Well I liked her answers. Even if she doesn't suit combat, I think we should put her file to the side and decide later."

"Alright we can do that."

Francesco stayed silent and just nodded.

Lucas signaled for the next applicant to come in.

After almost an hour and interviewing 16 people, they rejected 5 and told 11 people to wait for a call.

Lucas was frowning.

'Haa. Not one impressive person. Although a few had somewhat high levels, their skills sucked.'

Lucas called for the next person to come in.

Lucas and the others were surprised when they saw a teenage girl walk in.

'She looks around 16-17.'

The girl was short and looked timid. She walked towards the chair in the middle of the room and awkwardly sat down.

Leah spoke.

"Hello, I am Leah the general business manager and on the other side is Francesco the recruitment department head. And between us is the guild master of our Helios guild, Lucas Strom."

The girl replied.

"H-Hello. My name is Clara Hafer, it's an honor to meet you."

They could tell that she was very nervous.

Meanwhile Lucas was looking at her stats and was surprised when he saw them.

Name: Clara Hafer

Level: 1

Stats:

Strength: 6

Agility: 8

Stamina:7

Senses: 11

Intelligence: 5

Skills: Appraisal (B)

'She is only level 1 and has weak stats, but to think she has such a good skill just from awakening.'

Lucas then looked at her inner emotions.

He was surprised to see that her mana was almost completely white.

Francesco asked about Clara's stats and she was completely honest and showed them her system window.

Clara said that she could see the stats of both living things and objects.

Though it wasn't as much as Lucas could see.

After a few more questions Lucas finally spoke.

"Why do you want to join the Helios guild?"

Clara was surprised by the question, especially since he hadn't said anything so far.

She looked nervous and answered.

"I want to be useful to my family and make money to help at home."

Lucas could always tell when someone was lying or telling the truth thanks to Odin's Eye.

"Alright. I like that you're honest and your skill is very useful."

Clara looked happy to hear such praise.

"Thank you."

"I don't think you would fit into a combat team, but I want you to join the guild as a recruiter under Francesco here."

He smiled and pointed at Francesco.

Clara had a bright smile on her face.

"Thank you so much! I will do my best for the guild."

Leah then spoke.

"Before anything is official we need you to bring a guardian to sign a contract with us since you are under 18."

Clara agreed and said that her father was waiting outside.

They then called her father and explained the situation. Lucas called in one of the guild's lawyers to write the contract.

Soon Clara's father signed and she was an official member of the Helios guild.

Lucas stood up and spoke.

"Welcome to the Helios guild."

He shook her and her father's hand before calling someone from the recruitment department to show her around and get her settled in.

Meanwhile the applicants in the waiting room could somewhat tell what was going on and started whispering to eachother.

"I think she got accepted."

"Yeah I think so too."

"She is the first one to be directly accepted then."

"She looked so timid and weak plus she is just a kid. How did she get in?"

"You shouldn't judge people like that. I'm sure she has something special that they are looking for."

They were starting to get even more nervous, but a few were hopeful.

There were still over 30 applicants in different waiting rooms plus a lot more would show up over the entire day.

Meanwhile inside the interview room Lucas and the others were already calling for the next person.

'Although her skill is useful, I hope to find some people who are suited for combat.'

They interviewed 7 more people after Clara and rejected 3 of them right there.

It was time for the next applicant to enter.

Lucas was already getting exhausted.

'It's so difficult finding capable candidates.'

But his thoughts were interrupted by the person walking in.

A dark skinned man in his mid twenties walked towards the chair.

He was about 6'5 feet tall and very muscular.

Lucas could sense that he was different from the others and immediately used Odin's Eye.
