Chapter 1 - Dao of Immortality

Han Ren stood on edge of rooftop. His foot hovered over the marble edge. His face pale, wind whipping his hair. Below, the city dazzled with lights and crowded streets. It was alive like some festivals. The joy of people dancing, cheering, cold breeze, warmth of the light consumed him.

Without warning a bullet shot pierced through his abdomen, tearing his metallic shirt instantly. He slowly hovered his palm to stop the bleeding from his abdomen, it was but a futile struggle. His senses had already dulled, vision blurred, his body numbed. The world around him slowly fading. His eyes didn't show a single fear or shock, as if he had already expected it.

Coughing a mouthful of blood. 'Is this how I die?' The enemy didn't wait for him. Crack!

Another shot was fired, no time to dodge. Thud! The last bullet struck his head. His body collapsed to the ground, striking his head hard in the cement below. Blood pooled all over the floor. No human could survive after taking the shot and falling from a 100th layer building. The crowd stopped. Panic drifted their mind. Someone was making videos; Others were caught off in festival. The world had truly rotten to it's core. A man's death didn't matter to them. It would be considered a great act if someone even called the ambulance. But it was too late. Death doesn't come back.

The air around his body changed, covered by a black mist. The whole world seemed to be devoured by it. In the moment of death, a person reflect his past doing but Han Ren was different. He too didn't want to die not a sophisticated death. He was now emerged, floating indifferently in a void.

'Ah! is this the end. so that what Buddha mean by 'you only lose what you cling to'. Have I cling too much to life?' , He chuckled. Darkness swallowed him. A beam of light suddenly struck his eye.

Ack.! OwOw. It's hurts. This pain- it's different. Didn't I die?. He slowly stood up. His hands small, traces of burn could be seen. "What? who did this, Is this really me?", he muttered, voice trembling.

His meridians were shattered, no trace of Qi flowed. His dantian's were forcefully destroyed. He was confused yet it seem natural to feel the energy inside him. His eyes scanned the surroundings. Trees laying everywhere, mountains showing there's mighty peak, a giant lake was beside him and fish dancing in it. Birds chippring, sounds of rivers flowing could be heard. The scenery was truly breath taking.

Did i teleport to the mountains?

The lake drew his attention. The feeling of being invited itself made him shudder. But he could do nothing but follow.

He slowly began to move towards it, his body twisting, veins acted violently. But his very soul was captured. Before diving, his own reflection was shown by the lake. He shudder, hands trembling.

"Who is this?'' The boy in the reflection was totally different from him. From his down to up, his build was totally different. His face was not recognizable. His attire was also somewhat different like dark robe, that he had seen in different cultivation novels. His mind was now clear, suddenly realization struck.

He had been reincarnated.

The symbols in the robe represented Han. He finally understood. He is the disciple of the sect. Swoosh!

Being near that lake was his mistake. Without a warning, a dark chain shot towards him. Suppressing him. One after another his arms, his legs were coiled by a dark chain, and dragged into the water.

ugh.! A painful scream roared through the entire mountains.

The chains dragged him underwater, crushing his chest, chokinghis breath. He struggled, but the more he moved, the tighter the chain crushed his body. He wasn't strong enough to break them.

After a moment's hesitation, he made his decision. He could lose his hands, his feet-but not the life he had finally regained. He twisted his body pressing his leg against the chain. His hands trembled, pain surged through the body, but his will didn't waver. He kept rubbing his leg against the chain, his flesh tore, his bones break. Ultimately his leg was free from his body. His blood splattered and merged with the dark water.

It was not enough to make him free. He glared at his left leg, with disdain. His eyes cold, then did the same. Pain erupted from the separated part.

He didn't waver, now it was time for the arms. He gulped, his hands trembled. There is no way he will live a normal life without his arms and legs but he knew everything will be possible if he gets out of here. Because it was not the real world.

But the pain of losing flesh was too great to fathom.

He twisted his hand and pulled his body to opposite direction. The sound of his flesh tearing was too loud. His scream could be heard miles away. Ugrh...Ugrh! Any normal person would go sane before doing something, but he was Han Ren. After struggling for a minute both of his hands were left out. Only his torso remained. 'I have to hurry to the ground'.

With no limbs, no legs one cannot swim through the water. Water pressure crushed him, tearing his face. He twisted his torso against the pressure to develop the opposite force that would thrust his body upward.

Here I go.

Finally, he made it out but at what cost. 'ha…ha..' His breath had became shallow. He looked at his arms and legs, 'It would be good if i had died there', he muttered.

He was finally reincarnated but fate had different plan, his world was now shattered.

He was now left with just a torso. Cough! His body was now unstable, blood flowing outward, at soon he will die by 3 minutes. His blood was rapidly leaking. His eyes blurred, senses didn't work. "Is it the same this time?", coughing a mouthful of blood.

A deep voice echoed in his mind. "Marvelous!" His own Qi pulsed violently just hearing the words. "It was truly unexpected and satisfying to watch you".
