Chapter 1 - A Deal With The Death-God!

"Stop scamming me, Lord Yama!" Max cried out impatiently.

"Boy, you are talking with Lord Yama — the ruler of Hell, the dimension of death, and the Lord of all souls! Don't forget that," Yama said seriously as he stared at the six-foot-long mirror that displayed several young men from different worlds.

"Then you should behave like the mighty Lord of Death! My life was so perfect! I passed from MIT as a topper. My girlfriend finally agreed to go on a date with me — and everything got spoiled because of you!" Max said with frustration and anger.

"Boy, stop saying the same thing again and again. The mistake already happened because of my servant, Chitragupta. I already promised to give you a better life. Take another look at this mirror — look how handsome this fellow is! Why don't you choose his life?" Lord Yama asked while pointing at the mirror.

Max turned his head toward the handsome figure in the mirror. His face turned serious after observing the young man for a few seconds.

"Lord Yama, I want to live the life of a proper male. Look how he's walking! He is definitely a half male," Max said directly without any hesitation.

"Ahhuuu…" Yama gave out a slight cough and immediately moved his hand over the mirror. In the next second, the scenery changed, showcasing the life of another young man.

"No…" Max said after taking a single look.

Yama moved his hand again.

"No."

"No."

"Definitely no!"

While controlling his anger, Lord Yama continued to show the lives of several young people who were ready to die in the next few days.

"No."

"No, no."

"Not at all!"

Lord Yama felt a headache as he went through the struggle of serving the human from Earth.

"My time is definitely running bad… How can I, the mighty Yama, act humble in front of this small earthling?" Lord Yama muttered to himself.

"Stop!"

Suddenly, Max cried out eagerly as he stepped forward toward the mirror.

"Do you choose this fellow? He seems kinda…" Yama asked with a questioning look.

"Not him, go back," Max said while staring at the mirror.

"What?" Yama asked in frustration.

"Show me the life of the previous young man," Max said impatiently.

As Yama moved his hand, the young man with a handsome face appeared again on the screen. But it wasn't the face that attracted Max's attention.

The young man in the mirror was holding a small glowing staff, from which white energy rays were being released.

"Mr. Yama, what is this fellow doing?" Max asked with great curiosity.

"Hmmhhh…" Lord Yama gave a slight smirk before replying, "He is casting magic. This fellow seems to be an immature staff wizard," Yama replied.

The colors on Max's face changed immediately after hearing the word wizard.

"So this fellow lives in the world of magic, right? People can control animals, fight with spells, and do many0things just with a finger-snap…!"

"Boy, stop daydreaming!" Lord Yama interrupted Max. "You can do many things with magic, but not everyone can master it. Also, my time is very precious, so tell me — do you want to take his life?" Yama asked seriously.

Max continued to think deeply while staring at the image of the handsome young man struggling to cast a fireball spell.

Lord Yama waited patiently while Max made his decision.

"Mr. Yama, if my guess is right, this fellow is going to die very soon. That's why you are offering his life to me. Can you tell me how this fellow is going to die?" Max asked, turning toward Yama.

Lord Yama's charcoal face turned even darker after hearing the question.

"Yes, your guess is right. This fellow is going to die tonight. His own wife is going to poison him," Lord Yama replied after a slight pause.

"What!? This fellow looks just 18, and he already has a wife? That too a cunning one! Dear God, what a poor fellow!" Max cried out in pity.

"Boy, enough of your sympathy. Tell me — do you want to take his life?" Yama asked with a serious look.

"Don't be so impatient, Mr. Yama. I really want to try this magical world. Can you at least tell me a few more details about this fellow? Is he rich? Does he have any hidden defects? And…"

"Stop! I know you earthlings very well. You'll ask hundreds of doubts even for small things. All I can say is — this fellow, Henry Clark, belongs to a royal family. His father is a great figure who controls an entire realm. But he was born to a royal servant lady. His wife wants to kill him to get his inheritance wealth for her own family. That's all I can say," Yama replied briefly, with a slight look of cunningness.

Max didn't notice the hideous look on Yama's face — otherwise, he would have definitely rejected the life of Henry Clark.

Max was silent for a long time, thinking about the pros and cons of his choice.

"Not everybody's life is perfect. Even the president has his headaches. It's better to take the gamble and at least experience the world of magic. If things go wrong, I can always die and bargain with Yama again," Max thought to himself as he made his decision.

"Boy, speak now," Yama asked in a rough tone.

"Okay… I will take this Henry Clark's life. At least to do justice for him, I'll choose his life. And I hope you're not fooling me this time. Otherwise, I'll die immediately and come for you again!" Max said in a threatening tone.

Lord Yama felt a bit uneasy after hearing Max's serious tone.

"So it's decided. Best of luck, man. I hope you live a long-life this time," Yama said with a rare smile.

"That's in your hands..." Max muttered with a serious look.

Lord Yama gave a slight cough and extended his hand. As he closed his eyes and muttered a spell, a black whip with a golden handle appeared in his hands.

Immediately after the whip moved, the scenery around them changed completely.

Both Lord Yama and Max appeared in the bedroom of a royal house. On the bed, the young man Henry was sleeping peacefully.

As Yama extended his Death Whip, Henry's soul was pulled out of his body, and soon Max's soul began fading away.

Max stared at Lord Yama as he slowly disappeared.

"Young man, I forgot to say — this fellow has two wives and…"

Before Lord Yama could finish his sentence, Max's soul faded completely.

Hell Dimension…

After finally finishing the task, Lord Yama returned home with a peaceful look.

The servant Chitragupta hurriedly came to him with a tense expression.

"Mighty Lord, is everything alright? What happened to that human?" Chitragupta asked with a troubled face.

Lord Yama gave him an angry look before replying, "What can happen? Like every time, I offered a new-life to this fellow! In the last 10,000 years, this is your third mistake. How many times should I warn you to calculate lifetimes correctly!?"

"Mighty Lord, please forgive me! The humans are increasing every day, and I don't have proper assistance for the past few decades. While giving training to my son, I made a little mistake about this fellow named Max. I hope everything is settled now," Chitragupta replied pitifully.

"What settled!? This fellow Max is definitely a tough human!" Yama cried out impatiently.

"What do you mean, my Lord?" Chitragupta asked curiously.

"Unlike other humans, this fellow is always ready to die — without any fear! That's what bothers me. As you know, satisfying these humans is definitely troublesome," Lord Yama replied, thinking about the final threat given by Max.

Chitragupta also fell silent, remembering the initial-clash that happened when Max discovered how his life had ended before the due date.
