Chapter 31 - The Legend of the Hallow*

Mia woke up that morning feeling a sense of determination. She headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast, replaying the events of the previous day. Everyone was eager to train, and Mia was ready to learn more.

After breakfast, Mia asked Carla to follow her to the main hall where they usually trained. She was determined to teach Carla more about spell casting. Their spell was quickly interrupted by Lyrein and an unknown figure, Claudia. The way they entered the house was shocking, and Mia asked what was going on.

Lyrein answered, "This is Claudia, an old witch from New Orleans. She's probably 200 years old."

Everyone was shocked. Witches living that long was unheard of. Claudia looked more like a teenager, and Mia said, "I'm not a teenager. I was cursed by your parents to help guide the sealing of the Hallow. Now she's trying to get out due to this new coven called the Dark Witches. They're a group of witches who do magic in a dark way just to free their master, the Hallow."

Mia's eyes widened as she asked, "What is the Hallow, and how is it connected to me?"

Claudia nodded, "In 1802, New Orleans, the night of the blood moon, a child was born from a dark witch who was pregnant for 5 years. With her birth brings destruction. Her mother died at her birth, and that group of Dark Witches gave her a name, Hallow."

Claudia continued, "She was growing rapidly. In two days, she was already 5 years old and was sacrificing newborn babies to appease herself. Your mom, Hope Alden, and your dad, Mike Alden, saw a prophecy that that child would bring downfall to New Orleans. Wherever the Hallow goes, disaster follows."

Mia listened intently as Claudia told her the story of the Hallow's birth, her powers, and the destruction she caused in New Orleans. Her parents had gathered many witches to hunt and kill her, but she couldn't be killed. They found another way to seal her powers, burning her and spreading her remains to four different families in New Orleans.

Claudia revealed that three of the four guardians had been killed, and she was the last one remaining. Mia was devastated and asked if the remains could be transferred. Claudia replied no.

Mia knew they had to act fast. The blood moon was approaching, and the Dark Witches would start the ritual to resurrect the Hallow. She told Aunt Claudia to stay in the mansion and instructed Kia, Amara, and the others to check the city for any suspicious activity.
