Chapter 1 - Chapter One

Vincent had a bored look on his face as he looked out the window, with his hand under his chin. High school had just begun, and he was uninterested as ever. He sat there wondering how the next three years of his life were going to be, the disgusting girls he would have to keep up with, or the fake smiles and laughter he would have to perform. All the while, his father's voice kept ringing in his head, talking about how he couldn't survive alone and his need for friends and allies. He got frustrated and placed his head on his desk. The asshole doesn't even know shit about me!

Living with a perfectionist like his father, Vincent had never really enjoyed himself. He was always barked at; all he had ever done was never even close to being good enough, down to his facial expressions, attitudes, and behaviors. All this made Vincent grow up with very low self-esteem, all the while confused about whether he was an extrovert or an introvert. His father always forced him to make friends, even though he loved being alone. Interestingly, he was not the only child in his family, and he grew up with such hate for them. They all messed him up. He didn't know what to think, whether him sitting alone and not making relationships was the right thing to do. He felt so cold and alone. I hate them all!

Growing up with all this had made Vincent a pro at hiding his feelings and true intentions. He had perfected the art of fake smiles and laughing at disgusting jokes, more so tolerating girls. He put on a smile as he stood up to introduce himself to the people he was going to spend the next three years of his life with.

All he truly loved was reading online novels and manga. He was currently thinking about the novel he was reading. If only the author could be a little bit faster in updating it. One of the things he truly wished for was for the world to turn into one of those apocalyptic or fantasy worlds he read about in his novels. Just the thought of that was enough to widen his smile. How much fun would it be? The adventure, the excitement, then he would truly live a life! At least I'm grateful for the fact that I'm living in a dorm and away from them. That's the only good thing in my life right now.

He brought himself back to the moment and found that he was quite far from his seat at the back, surrounded by his classmates at the front of the class. A girl was currently introducing herself, finding out he struggled to remember her name. Ah fuck me! He gave a low sigh. Just as she was about to finish, a female teacher walked into the class, disrupting the setup, which Vincent was more than happy to comply with. They later agreed to complete the introductions during break.

"I welcome you all to this prestigious school," she began. "I will be your class teacher for the next three years, and you can address me by…"

While the teacher was talking and telling them about the school, Vincent couldn't help but look out the window, imagining how beautiful it would be for a horde of zombies to just appear from under the ground, or for mana to flood the earth, or for a very high tower or tombs to appear. Life would then become an adventure, a fight for survival. They were all things he used to read about in those novels. Smiling, he prayed to any god out there to at least grant his wish, and to not forget that he would need a system too.

Looking back at the teacher, he was ready to put all his attention into what she was saying, when the sting came. At first it was just a little feeling, but it grew worse coming more and more frequently it grew into a nasty headache up to the extent he had to grip his head tightly. And ironically the feeling developed into dizziness. This had never happened to him before; he hated sleeping in class, but now the urge was overwhelming. And without given the freedom of choice, with his head on his desk, he fell asleep.

Vincent sat up instinctively, rubbing his eyes. What the fish was that? I slept? On the first day of high school? What has gotten into me lately? He finally stopped rubbing his eyes, and the whiteboard he was expecting to see in front of him was replaced with trees.

"What the…"

He looked to his east, and there was another set of trees staring right back at him. I'm in a forest? With this sudden realization, he couldn't contain his excitement.

"I have been transmigrated? All my prayers have been answered…" he said out loud.
