Synopsis
A story about a guy using one of the best games ever in an anime world. I created and worked on this on and off for a long time after learning that this game will be discontinued after 8 long years. I don't know if I'm going to continue it or not just yet. 1 year anniversary after the game shut down.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

'I should've known this was going to happen eventually,' I thought, looking at the last announcement my favorite mobile game will ever make.

----------------------------------------------------------

Valkyrie Crusade

(End of Service Announcement)

The Valkyrie Crusade service will end at 12:00 on May 30th (JST).

We would like to thank all our users for their support throughout the years.

For you to be able to enjoy all the issued cards and BGM, Version 8.1.1 is scheduled to be released in the App Store.

Kindly understand that this version will take a large amount of memory. Please make sure there is enough storage space when downloading the content.

-----------------------------------------------------------

It was a fun game that lasted for a full 8 years with some of the most beautiful artwork I've ever seen, even if it was starting to get very complicated with the new elemental crystals and the newest rarity, Valkyrie Rare. Especially the pay to win function being more and more obvious with each passing update.

'First was Samurai Empire from Nubee. Now it's Valkyrie Crusade. What's next? Taimanin Asagi Battle Arena? What other game will be discontinued because the creators got too greedy?' I thought, staring up at the ceiling, waiting for the download to be finished.

Yawning, I closed my eyes, planning on taking a nap and continue playing afterwards.

[Welcome to the afterlife, Alex! Rejoice, as your boring life is now over! Don't despair though, because your new life will now be filled with excitement, horror, betrayal, and more importantly, romance!]

"What?" I said, not comprehending the message. I pinched myself, but I didn't feel the pain. "I'm dreaming then."

It soon disappeared and the next thing I knew, I saw someone sitting on a chair with a desk in front of me. I felt my eyes widen in shock when I saw her. She looked like Aqua but more beautiful and holy.

... ... ...

"A...Aqua?" I asked flabbergasted.

"No, I'm not Aqua," She began to say shaking her head in denial, "I'm using an image from your subconscious to talk to you directly, so you don't lose your mind to grief. You may call me Aqua if you would prefer."

"I... I see." I nodded, a little confused that it's Aqua and not Hestia, but decided to go with the flow of my dream.

"You're not dreaming, Alex. You really did die," she said, a sad look appeared on her face.

"What are you talking about? I just fell asleep," I said, shaking my head in denial.

"You were killed in your sleep by the apocalypse. The Miyans got the last two numbers switched. It wasn't 2012, it was 2021."

"Huh, well..." I trailed off, not sure on what to say to that.

"Congratulations, you have been chosen and will be given a new life with a job class that is suited to you." Aqua said, pressing a button and a window appeared that soon started cycling through multiple job classes until it slowed down and landed on one.

[Gained Job Class: Summoner]

[Pick a type of Summoning]

• Elemental Summoning

• Angelic Summoning

• Demonic Summoning

• Monster Summoning

• Valkyrie Crusade Summoning

• Age of Ishtaria Summoning

• Deadman Cross Summoning

• Samurai Empire Summoning

[Reset]

"Um, Lady Aqua, why is there only 8 choices? I'm not being ungrateful or anything, I'm just wondering is all. Also, it doesn't say which world I'll be going to, only the job class. Do you choose it, or can I pick it? I want to visit a world that doesn't increase my chance at dying, or a death world where everyone dies like in the anime, Akane ga Kill."

"It's completely randomized based on multiple factors, and you could switch the summoning choices again if you want, but you might not get the same one twice. As for the world, it will be selected after you carefully pick your summon type from the list and complete the tutorial. I don't want to send you somewhere without you knowing how it works after all. Before you ask, yes, you'll still have your memories, but your body will be a native of that world. And before you ask, yes it's your body and no, you're not taking over someone else's."

I nodded and dismissed the first four on top since it's redundant because the other four have similar or more powerful creatures. They were Valkyrie Crusade, Age of Ishtaria, Deadman Cross, and Samurai Empire.

I have to choose wisely, and I can't pick one without thinking it through. Even if the first two have really noice artwork and character designs. And yet, my eyes were drawn back to the first option, Valkyrie Crusade. 'This was my chance to have my Valkyries back,' I thought, my mind started playing back all the memories I had of the game, the challenges, the struggles we faced, the highs and lows of the dreaded gacha summons.

I shook my head trying to clear the memories from my mind, 'I can't think with my emotions, no matter how much I want to. This is my, well, new life we're talking about here. I could be sent somewhere dangerous.'

I then focused on Age of Ishtaria and my mind came up blank. I don't remember much about it other than that I stopped playing it because of the rumors of Valkyrie Crusade was planning on being shut down. All I could remember is that they have really noice artworks, especially a certain card containing a scene of a female Arthur bathing with a female Mordred.

As for Deadman Cross, that one is instantly crossed out because if what I remember right it has zombies as summons. I'm not sure if I'm immune from getting infected, nor do I have a cure if other people get infected. It would be interesting if I was going to play as a necromancer with all those unique zombie creatures under my control.

I was about to ask her just to make sure, but she spoke before I could, "Yes, they will obey your orders. No, you won't be infected by the zombie virus if you decide to fuck the very hot zombie women, but everyone else will be if scratched or bitten. As for a cure, who knows."

"I see," I said, and very reluctantly tossed it in the no pile. Maybe in another life, I can command legions of unique zombies to fight my battles for me.

Samurai Empire was the game that led me to play Valkyrie Crusade, and it has a special place in my heart. From what I remember right, the game is similar to the other three choices, but it's based on the past with regular soldiers that aren't as powerful. Well, I could be wrong since it's been years after all, but I can't take that chance. I placed it in the no pile and was left with two choices.

"I choose Valkyrie Crusade Summoning," I said, picking it because I'm more familiar with it than Age of Ishtaria and most of the Valkyries are overpowered as fuck.

"Of course," She pressed a button on the table before looking up at me, "Good luck with the tutorial. May you have a pleasant journey."

I blinked and everything turned black, and I knew nothing else.
